  1. Going back a lot of years SB I found that when going to and from work I had a pair of waterproof leggings where the seams especially around the crotch area were "welded" rather than stitched and never had any problems with as you so eloquently put it "soggy knackers" Mike.
  2. Yes, there will be plenty of help on here for you, about twenty years ago I had a couple of XS250's which were fantastic but have progressed up the cc scale since then. Am now on a 1250cc now, but not a Yamaha though.
  3. Hi smitty_jc7 Welcome to the fantastic forum and what a brilliant intro. As NEO says, A lot of the members (the regular ones who respond) are all UK based and I assume CO and GA are in the US? Myself are thinking along the same lines. I presume CO is Colorado and the obvious one GA is Georgia. Anyway, It's always nice to have a member from a different country and post photos of their bikes. Mike.

    blooming traffic!

Jimmy and jcr have given me an idea, the other day I was out on the bike to drop it off for a bit of maintenance and had to walk/bus it home in full leathers in a massive heatwave which was a nightmare then had to walk/bus it back again to collect it later. So, as I'm a retired earlybird and usually up around 04:00 will seriously think about going out for a ride in the Wiltshire country roads then as I've always said that's the best time of the day. Will plan a route then hopefully do it. Mike.

I went today in the car as again there were three of us to which I think is the "best place" in South Wales. Any ideas? Was so envious of all the bikers parking on the sea front where we had to park in a car park and walk down to the beach which was no problem. Mike.

    blooming traffic!

If you want to venture farther north and end up in North Wiltshire there are plenty of quiet rural roads and loads of quiet A roads as well as Motorways i.e., M4/M5. My favourite trek is on the A429 from Chippenham(where I live) to Cirencester(where I grew up) on the way just before Ciren is the old Kemble airfield which used to be the original home of the RAF's Red Arrows which is now a private "Commercial estate?" anyway, now it is open to the public with a fantastic cafe overlooking the runways being used by private small aircraft. Not sure if the cafe which is called AV8 is open at the moment due to the present pandemic. Mike.

Totally concur jcr, but as there was three of us going out to National Trust today I had no choice but to take the car. Seen so many bikers on the roads (motorways included) was very envious. But, and a very BIG BUT. the weather was so hot I don't think I would have coped too well in my full leathers being in my seventies. Mike.

    plug cap prices

Brill jcr, no probs that's what here for. Mike.

    plug cap prices

Yes Blackie, you are correct as usual, if I remember right I used to screw off the ends then just push the cap onto the threaded part of the plug not actually screw them on. Mike.
  10. Mmmm Geiger, First of all welcome to the forum but I think your best bet is to go into this forum and this particular section and introduce yourself first, then go into the relevant section and then relay your problem/question. The reason I suggest this is that we get a lot of "one hit wonders" on here that get their answer and never hear from them again. Mike.
  11. Blimey finnerz, good for her. Just as well it wasn't the other way round. Mike.
  12. I've heard this before Cynic. when babies and drunks fall over they don't hurt themselves. I remember about twenty odd years ago I was exiting a roundabout and got up to about 45 MPH and had a rear tyre blowout and although it happened in a nanosecond it seemed to go in slow motion and to this day I remember just relaxing knowing I was going to come off and literally got away with a couple of bruises. Mike.
  13. Blimey NEO, That reminds me of when I was taking my daughter on the A4 into Bath to the RUH for her orthodontic appointment and as we were entering Bath City centre on the Dual carriageway a "White van" man not only pulled in front of us from a side street but stopped right in front of us blocking our exit, after exchanging a few choice words his response was "That's what you've got brakes for ain't it" Mike/
  14. About twenty years ago coming back from Clevedon in Somerset on the M5 Northbound after watching our local football team play away to Clevedon with my son on the back of my Divvy 600 he decided to fall asleep going across the Avonmouth bridge in Bristol. My mistake was to shout his name and ask him if he was OK. What I should have done was to pull into the emergency lane and woke him up. But since that experience I've learned that is a common occurrence. (frightening) But the most frightening time was coming back from Poole in Dorset again watching our local team play and as luck had it I entered a 40mph speed limit just before Warminster on the A350 and he decided to feint. I felt him slipping off the back of the bike towards the middle of the road so I had to hold him in a headlock to stop him falling into the road, literally stall the bike into the side of the road. Believe it or not about four cars passed us before finally a car stopped to help me get him off the bike and sit him onto the grass verge. And the car that stopped was a woman on her own and gave my son some water from a bottle she had been drinking from. She did leave without giving me her details but to this day I really do thank her and will never forget her good deed where as others just drove past. But the good news was just after she left a car with Chippenham supporters pulled up thinking that we had broken down but after explaining what happened they put my son in their car and took him all the way home with me following behind. There is good people about thankfully. Mike.
  15. Cheers NEO, just tuned in online and I'm in heaven. Just listened to The Animals, Eric Clapton, Dire Straits, Roxy Music and then the Beatles 1964 song "I'll follow the sun" now slightly before my time but do remember it at school "Johnny Tillotson - Poetry in Motion" and now Telstar by the one and only Tornados. Cheers again. Mike.
  16. Wasn't it something like. If you want it, "come and get it"
  17. Yeah, well done finnerz Mike. Well done Blackie. Cheers NEO, will certainly look into this. Radios Caroline and Luxemburg were my favourites in the early sixties. Mike. Yeah right drewpy. Mike.
  18. No Drewpy. Doc and the medics was a cover version of the original hit which was a gospel song. Mike. Now listening to "I'm a believer" by The ???? Mike.
  19. Just came down from a shower, put in my head phones and resumed my Deezer favourites and first to come up was "the logical song" by Supertramp then followed by "black betty" by Ram Jam, now listening to "riders on the storm" by the doors. 60's bliss. Next up is "spirit in the sky" by, any guesses? Mike.
  20. Blimey Drewps, don't' start me on the early 60's Stones music, my favourite era, Ruby Tuesday, Little Red Rooster, Let's Spend the night together and my all time favourite "19th nervous breakdown" Mike.
  21. One of my favourite stones songs.
  22. Cheers Drewpy, but Sniff's put it on Tuesday. Mike.
