Money saving expert link Caveat:this links to an external site and no admission of responsibilty or support is implied or given! It’s possible to grab quotes from scores of motorbike, moped and scooter insurers in minutes; saving you £100s. Yet it needs to be done carefully, many big name insurers think motorbike, moped and scooter insurance is risky and steer clear of it, leaving smaller companies to cover the market. Though follow this article and you’ll have an easy ride. These savings can be had anytime. Provided you haven't claimed, most insurers allow policies to be cancelled with a refund, and while a few charge penalties, you’re still likely to save more …

New member, re-living my youth with a red Xs 750 2D. Has anyone else had finding an insurer with this model on their database? They all seem to use the same one which lists just the 750SE.

  5. Bit of a mystery and I'm wondering if anyone knows the answer. I've been getting the ritual annual quotes for my bike insurance (an onerous but worthwhile task) and I've noticed a weird thing. When I get quotes from MCN, GoCompare etc. for my Yamaha SR125, none of the many insurers offer me Ride Other Bikes cover. Whereas for my Honda 500, it's included in almost every quote. Both are comprehensive cover and obviously my details are identical. The only reason I can think of is that there's some sort of background judgment being made along the lines of "If you only ride a 125, we're not going to risk letting you ride someone's 750". Which seems pretty draconi…

So... Is it true that I can't use my no claims on two different bikes? And yet, it doesn't matter WHICH bike I use it on??? WTF is this craziness??? Surely I've racked up 2 years of no claims no matter what bike insurance it's applied to? I can only ride one damn bike at a time!!!

Has anyone used these before and are they any good? They appear to be undercutting the Bennetts and CNs of the world with all the add ons included. Quoted me £200 less on a 950

  9. Well the question is; Is it worth having classic insurance given the restrictions against the benefits? I think I know the answer but wondered what people thought. I am not talking huge money here and, given the ratio of a premium to payout, If I wrote the RD off without causing damage to anything else it would take 40 years of future claims free policies for the insurance company to break even. Presently I have the FZ on one policy (with Swintons) and a RD400 and TS250 on a classic multibike policy with Lee at Bikesure. It's the classic policy that is up for renewal but I have SORN'ed the TS and going to get the RD only insured this year - probably! I haven…

Hi Recently got a Yamaha YB1 (1987, 50cc) for my first bike. I am now experiencing issues with trying to insure it (possibly because of the age or the fact that it's an import). First it's hard to find insurers for the bike and also if I do find any insurers, the price of insurance is rather high (£400 ish). Anyone own a yb1 or similarly hard bike to insure within the uk and where do I go to get reasonable insurance prices (or not!) Many thanks :-)

I hear that grey imports cost more to be insured but when I make a quote, the first 4 insurance companies give the same price like for a UK bike. there is some insurance companies that don`t mind if the bike are a grey import? I will appreciate any info you can give me guys about those bikes? and if anyone know if the road tax is diferent for import bikes?

Anybody shed any light on this as im confused. When i owned Betty i went through Lee to get insured and as always more than impressed with the service, but now that i have sold Betty and no longer need the insurance Adrian Flux has gone all bank robber on me and i cant see why. Just for stating that i no longer have the vehicle and thus would like to cancel the policy they are now charging me £97.23? Now i pay all my insurances monthly as i never seam to have the full amount in my pocket to pay it off in one lump and its easier to manage i find, so i did have a fair few months left remaining on the policy but in the past when ever i cancelled a policy i only u…

Hi I'm new to the group and I'm just in the process of buying a 125 Dragstar. I have about 7 years riding experience from 1997-2004 nut haven't been on a bike or the scene since. I don't have my full bike license yet and have just retaken the CBT and theory to get myself ready again. I was wondering if anyone had any tips on good insurance companies, and who to avoid? Any help is much appreciated. Cheers Dom

via a mcn email i got a code to get a quote from the above firm, it wasn't a bad quote either considering the reason i phoned was to take advantage of their free toolkit worth £15 or so just for getting a quote but boy do they make you work for it, i was on the blower for ages and then they put pressure on to sign up there and then even though its not actually due just yet.
