hello im looking at some decent tyres for some enduro, i currently have a pair of Heidenau tyres on that are rated as enduro, the rear is a cats paw and cost me £75 which isnt too bad and the front is not a cats paw tread and the grip is terrible to a point i wont go green laining while i have that tyre on. ive decided to get rid of them both in favour of some tyres more geared towards offroading there are a few different kinds ive been looking at but i do like the look of the continental tkc80's. can anyone shine some light in the quality for green laining in damp conditions, going to drop £140 on these 2 tyres and i want to know if there any good. any other …

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum, but not completely new to motorcycling, however I have some questions to ask. I have a 2005 yamaha DT 125 RE, in relatively good condition, however there are a few things that I would like to fix: 1. I have a full DEP system, and I want to find out what main jet I am running on my carb, can i just open it up and look and put it back together without having to buy new gaskets etc? the reason for this is - if it is a 210, I would like to up-jet to 240 to see a top speed around that magic 80 number rather than the current 72, and I'm generally worried it might be running lean after reading many horror stories about after ma…

Hello everyone I am new to these forums. I have a 1993 Yamaha Banshee and did have a 2003 Raptor 80 when I was younger, it recently got sold. My father has a torn apart dirt bike in the shed in my backyard and I decided to look at it. He said if I wanted to give it a shot to try to get it working I can. He has taken apart the intake and some electrical components (I think its the CDI). I found all the parts and everything is good but just one problem... I don't know the damn model! these are the best photos I can get tonight but I will get some tomorrow. From what I saw it looks like a 2 stroke judging the pipe. I just don't want to start it with regular gas and find out …

hi guys i have a problem with my dt changing from 1st to 2nd. it started yesterday after using the bike for some enduro riding, i rode from 10am to 3:30pm with regular cool down breaks. i will say that most of the time i was in first gear with fairly high revs. well now the bike goes into first easily but then struggles into 2nd and is then fine throughout all the gears. is it possible to damage a gearbox from riding in 1st for a long time? any advice will be appreciated

Hi, as a newbie hi, I have a small issue stupidly..... I bought a WRF and ran the vin checks first and it comes back fine, but it's supposed to be a WRF 450 registered on the road it's got the Battrey starter on the engine etc however it's been of the road for some time and the previous owner bought it without the V5 and pretty much used it on a track the frame number is CJ050-004815* however I can't find anything on this apart from it was made in Africa i I can't find the engine number ? I I have no registration number I want to put this back on the road but the frame number is too short as far as I am know I got the frame number from the head stock would I be right…

Hey, as Blackhat and Cynic recommended i had a cylinder rebore and a new wiseco piston + a new bearing. Now the problem is that at 7500 rpms there is a rattle (metalic klicking) in the engine in any gear and it starts at the same time, all the time, strange thing is that i had this rattle with the old piston but it was not that loud. I am guessing this rattle comes from the powervalve, but i cant find the cause. I opend the valvesystem and the the piston is not touching the valve as was my first guess + i did grind it to fit the new piston before i assembled the engine. So does anybody have an idea what could it be. Oh and forgot that the rattle starts when there is nee…

Hi all, I'm trying to get the relay arm to frame bolt out, I've undone the small 14mm one but how on earth do you get the larger 22mm one off. My bike seems to have a piece of metal that stops the nut from being turned, I can barely get a socket on it. Is it supposed to drift out? The Haynes manual would seem to suggest not but I can't see how it's possible to spin it out. Cheers all

I have an '86 tk carb on a later bike but can't find float height for it. It seems to be above the float bowl to main body seal ! It therefore leaks and I'm going to change the seal next week . I'd just like confirmation that the level can sometimes be above the gasket, I've never come across that before. Thanks in advance, Dave ps. I'm going to put a small washer under the needle to richen it rather than changing the jets.

Me and the wife had a great run today...total of 150 miles. From Llandod, through Llanidloes, then over the mountain to Machynlleth, finally ending up in Dolgellau. Lot of narrow single track roads, and we even managed to have a plod round a few Forestry Commission tracks on the edge of Snowdonia National Park. We deliberately avoid all the major roads, particularly on a Sunday when they turn into Racetrack Wales. About 5 miles from home, an ambulance with all the lights and sirens on was coming the other way. No prizes for guessing why. Anyway, here's some photos.... Parked up by the lake on the Llanidloes to Machynlleth road. Off t…

well as pete knows, i've been thinking of getting a dualsport. so here it is! a klr650 52 reg with 1.3k miles, predator exhaust(which sounds great) like new condition. i think i've finally found the bike for me! power is great as is the comfort, fun factor and handling. i've been riding it non stop since i got it and it has created a far better first impression than any of my other bikes ever have. it's an awsome bike and i'm over the moon with it

The TT-R's finally done! Turns out the persistent oil weep was coming from the redundant decompressor bolt on the top of the casing. No sweat though....cos for them to find it, I ended up with all the top gaskets and oil seals replaced. And I had them to adjust the valves while they were at it. The new air filter is in and it's running a hell of a lot better now, as the old one was disintegrating and split. It's got a new MOT, new NGK, the handguards are on, it's got Silkolene inside, and now it's running like a little watch. Let's Rock!

Hi everybody, I am a newbie to this forum. Need some helpful advise please. Just bought a 83 TT600 that had a seized piston. Got everthing back together and now have no spark. Have gone through all wiring and tests that I can do and everything seems to test ok. Is there a way of testing the CDI box so I can know for sure if that is the issue. I find it hard to swallow that the spark box went tits up since the piston seizure. The previous owner did not mention any ignition issues, just the top end. Any help with your past experiences would be greatly appreciated. It's been over 30 years since I have had a kickstart dirtbike and trying to spin the motor over and che…

hi peeps ! own a dt125r 1999 model, but the performance should be better ! i,ve read dt125r.net derestricting technicues.however does,nt say anything about carb jetting, surely if the front pipe has been derestricted (ie ring removed) then it would need rejetting ? as its now like a performance pipe compared to the old one.also my bike seems exceptionally slow, 45 to 50 mph without screaming the engine max ! in 6 gear. heard lot of people getting 75 mph plus wheelies.nice, but want to get mine better or at least find whats wrong with my bike,so can fix it ! got 1 size bigger front sprocket coming,as 1st gear is way too low. any help/advice appreciated powervalve tu…
