Having just passed my DAS (there goes the neighbourhood folks ) I am looking at sourcing a 'big' bike. I did my DAS on a combination of an XJ6 and an MT03. Can't say I loved the MT03 (never fully got used to the notchy throttle response although that might have been me) but I did find the XJ6 quite a nice ride. Question is does anyone have a strong opinion on the XJ6 as a first 'big' bike? Have looked at a few including some with ABS ... I understand the use of ABS but never used a bike with it - how important is it on a bike? Any comments appreciated.

Hi all, I love in Spain and am currently doing my bike test here - passed the track test yesterday first time and now only have the road test to go before I can upgrade form a 125. Problem is over here they have introduced the A2 license which only allows a 35 kilowatt bike and it must have a power to wight ratio of 0,2 kW/kilo. So therefore I think the minimum weight must be 175kilos and it can´t be more than 47 BHP. I have seen the MT03 which I love the look of , but there don´t seem to be any other streetbikes that aren´t chopper style that I could look at. Does anyone have any idea of which bikes would come into that range and also and more importantly if …

Hellow everybody, I would like to improve the sound and the looks of my MT 125. Is there anybody MT 125 owner to make any suggestion? Is there any mod for not compatible exhaust terminals to fit to MT? Thank you in advance!

Well I have gone and done it. Bought and payed for, pick it up tomorrow from dealer in Aberdeen, first in the N E of Scotland (apart from the demo). The only other thing with torque like it is the Triumph Rocket 3, but that is massive and has 2.3 litres to play with. Can't wait MT-01 Will post some pics soon

I am looking for a photo of an MT-01, which has been supplied with the 'free' Akrapovic exhausts & Fly screen so I can see what it looks like and whether or not you HAVE to buy extra bits just to fit them. Will they fit straight into the standard MT-01 heat shields or do I have to buy the Carbon Muffler Heat Shield at another £161?! I'm not buying a single seat, so I take it Yamaha are providing the muffler rings as well so the pipes can be used with the standard seat? Not even my dealer is able to answer these questions as I'm the first person to buy one of these machines from him!

Anyone on here have any of the MT series bikes here in the USA? Seems that the MT-03 is Europe only and the MT-01 is Europe and Canada only (maybe Asia as well), but nothing here in the USA. I know I've come across some hints of a few in the US, wondering if anyone here has one, or knows how someone got one. Thanks.

Yamaha have released a Safety Recall for all models of the Yamaha MT-01. The recall notes possible critical failure of the rear suspension. The following text is taken from the Yamaha postal notification sent to all MT-01 owners as listed on their database: "...As part of Yamaha's policy of constantly monitoring the quality and performance of its products, we regret to announce that the factory has identified a potential defect with your machine whereby under certain circumstances the suspension link arm bearing housing, may become weakened, particularly when exposed to road salt in winter months. In extreme cases this may result in a crack developing in the link a…

Hi. Can anyone help please? I have a set of Arrows on my 06 MT-03 and have a major power flat-spot at about 3500rpm in second or third gear. Someone told me that if I disconnect my battery on my 06 MT-03, it will reset the ECU and "learn" the new fueling. He may be thinking about this working for cars but does it work for bikes? Personally I think a Power Commander's the solution but it's worth asking the question! Thanks.

I'm totally new to biking so forgive my ignorance to start with... Bought my YBR125 on 17th August this year (seems like years away!) and ever since have been looking for options on my post-DAS bike. I've been building a shortlist - liking street style bikes and being a short-arse at 5'4" (hubby says 5'3") can't do too tall, although I'm willing to get it shortened if needs be. Can't do anything sporty, since the hobby has seriously exacerbated my carpal tunnel syndrome so can't be in a riding position with too much stress on my wrists. Anyway, long story short, but it's only tonight that I've come across the MT-03. Not heard/read anything about it in weeks of lo…

My clutch snapped on the way home from work today, and I've had to leave my MT-03 in town. Came home and tried to order a replacement online, but I can not find any where listing a clutch cable for an MT-03!! Looked in my user and service manual for a part number, no joy. Googled my little heart out, nothing. Anyone know the magic number for me to order a clutch cable (and/or where from?) before I return to find only a chassis left!! Ta. Stu

Hi all, I'm reposting a topic I raised on reddit with the hope someone here may have experienced the same issue and fixed it? Sorry for the copy / Pasted black text. " Hi Chaps and Chapettes, So I've had my MT07 for around a month - 2 months and with about 1700 miles on the clock and today something quite troubling happened, the bike cut out with the clutch in going in a roundabout. Luckily for me I was only going 20mph, if I were going lets say 10mph more, it would have been an absolute disaster. It looks like a similar issue posted a few years ago - https://www.reddit.com/r/MotoUK/comments/4eh6k3/advice_yamaha_mt07_engine_stallingcutting_out/ B…

Hi All, I have a 2015 MT-07 which I bought used a year ago. It rode fine for that last year without any major issues. It currently has almost 16,000 miles on the clock and was fully serviced few months ago. About 2 weeks ago I noticed that about half way though my commute (12 miles each way) it's getting harder and harder to select Neutral; up to a point where I'm unable to select it when I stop at the junction. I have to select Neutral while still riding towards the junction. Never had any issues selecting Neutral before so it's not the lack of my skills ;-) Am I facing a bigger issue with a gearbox?
