  1. A brief conversation with the housemate yesterday had her with an observation about how people swing their leg over their bikes. Her observation is that guys will bend their leg while they swing it over, while women tend to just keep it straight. I haven't been able to disagree yet, but I am interested in if this is a seemingly accurate observation - so, what do you guys and gals do when swinging your leg over the bike?

Hi, wondering if anyone can please help me. My Yamaha XJ900F (1992) slipped from my grip the other day and rolled onto its right side, cracking the crankshaft end cover into three, emptying all the engine oil. Needless to say I wasn't too happy. I'm trying to hunt down a replacement part, and so far have only found what I need in Holland - which will cost be rather costly to post. Does anyone know of a supplier that might make these? I usually find what I need at WeMoto but not this time it seems. Any tips would be much appreciated.

Hi all, I'm Karen from Glasgow, I'm new to forums but I'm having some issues so bit the bullet and joined lol! I have a 2007 R1 with power commander fitted. I changed jobs in 2009 and the bike went off the road due to low salary ( I didn't have the heart to sell! ). I finally decided to get it back on the road last year, changed plugs, battery, brake fluid, coolant etc, stripped out injectors and soaked them in carb cleaner and I dropped some oil down the bores and rolled the bike in gear to free off the Pistons. After all of this it fired up and ran perfectly, went for mot and sailed through, this was in April last year and I've been using the bike regular since an…

Had a good look round the Divvy today and treated it to a wash and ACF50. I noticed that all the fairings and the tank have what looks like a security mark on them. I've looked online and can't find anyone who seems to use this particular mark and was hoping someone on here might be able to shed some light. The mark is DAT followed by a seven digit number etched in black dots. My first thought was datatag but looking at their website this doesn't look like what they use. Anyone have any ideas??

Question please. Previously (for 11yrs) I had a 1980 Yaaha XV750SE originally a Jap market one. Now I have a 1981 Yamaha XV750 but is it a SE or H? How to tell please. Log book does not say. It is from the USA. What is the difference between the models? Only difference I have seen is that my Jap market one had a red light come on at 50mph and a Kilo speedo. But thinking about when buying spares, anything to look out for? Baby's nappy weather here in west Kent today, wet and windy.

Well, today I decide to pop out on the bike for a bit. The kids were cranky, the missus too. My old lady is still knarked I missed mothers day, c'mon. Docs want me to go for a CT scan after the ultrasound a couple of weeks ago. Yep, with that lot I figure grab the keys and destroy a few more ozones. Nope, 2 mile out the village she goes all flat then drops on to one cyl on all but flat out, great! the bloody idle jets AGAIN. Something she seems prone to. Get home, (exhausts have to come off to remove the carbs unless you have double jointed hands that work backwards) exhaust gasket knackers its self and I don't have a spare......(&*$$) lh carb idle is blocke…

Hi, I have bought a Yamaha DT50 MX but it needs a new barrel and piston, the bike in in great condition otherwise, completely original so I have decided it is worth doing, the problem is that the engine is from a Yamaha RX50, and as im sure you know are rare, so you cant get parts for them and you cant get the engines, does anyone on here have any suggestions as to what I could do and what my options are getting this bike back on the road? I am new to this so I don't know what options I have, I have considered a replacement engine but not sure what fits the frame, or any barrels and pistons that would fit the RX50 engine? either 50 or 80 cc. Thanks in advance and any advi…

Good morning all I have just signed up as i have a issue with my 2010 XT125 R and i was wondering if anyone has had a similar issue of know of a fix. I recently bought my XT125 and it was running fine, but recently i have started to notice a kind of whine in 3rd and 4th coming from the left side of the engine which i assume is the gear box? Also i have started to notice that it is sounding noisy from the left side also when the bike is free rolling. It kinda sounds like when a push bike is free rolling. Has any one had this before? is it normal? is there a fix? Cheers Matt

Hello all, now, I've got a Yamaha wr125x 2015 and I need some advice!! Most days I take the dual carriageway home as my bike is my main form of transport! It's currently all stock apart from a leovince exhaust. I've researched for hours trying to find someone who has messed about with the gearing, I want a wee bit more topend. I know it's a 125 4 stroke and I'm lucky to get 65/70mph out of it but I'd rather sit at them speeds a little more Comfortably in 6th gear. Does anyone know what gear ratios suit this bike better for a little bit more speed? Thanks in advance ! Oh, and merry Christmas guys!!

Hello! new to the site... and to bikes I just bought a Yamaha RS100 1976, its seen better days but I wanted a project bike anyway. Its with this I need your help. I was told the RXS shares most of the same parts and I was wondering if I were to buy a 1993 RXS, just how transferable would the parts be? and then also the same question for a RS100 1985? I greatly appreciate any information and advice you can give me! Thanks Cal My Bike

I managed to complete my CBT yesterday and the trike passed its MOT today, so it's been a good week even if I did have to drive to Scotland and back for work. I might think about getting a cheap 125 so that I can practice for the full test on L plates, but not sure what to get. Any advice on good learners bikes. Yamaha, of course. ;-)

So to add to the ongoing niggles over the past year, I now have an oil leak but not sure where from? When she's been sitting for a few hours there is no sign of a drip anywhere, it is only when she's been running that it comes out and there is a lot splattered on the underside toward the rear of the engine. Losing what looks like about a tablespoon when it's parked, not sure how much when on the move (keeping the level topped up obviously). It tends to drip from the frame on the left hand side just behind the sidestand, may be running from the seam in the centre (hope not). Not missing a beat and no tapping or mechanical noises of concern but obviousl…

Trying to find every last available mA on this system replaced the neutral bulb which has turned silver again with an RS 209-428 as a test before doing the others. Will have to see what the indicator flasher unit will think of it in due course.

At last ! I managed to get hold of an LC tank in fairly good nick . It's got some filler , scratches and small dents but no rust as far as I can see . I'll enjoy rubbing it back into shape and I'll get saving for a mitaka clutch kit and a set of gearbox bearings . I'm thinking yellow for the tank . Any one out there got any LC gear selector forks lying around ?? Two of mine are shagged .

Hi, I'm DUMB as far as technical things go, and get my scoot serviced once a year to keep it on track. It got looked at in December and all was fine, but its now playing up. The starter button won't start it anymore and I have to kick-start it. (Once I've kickstarted it, if I stop and go to a shop or something, it'll start from the starter button then) When I press the starter button it'll do a chug chug chug thingy but nothing else. Any advice? Also it spits blue smoke when I drive off. I've been told this is too much oil, but she got a drink about a month ago, and was fine until this last week. Thanks for helping a complete idiot!!!
