urgent need of another carb but places seem to want silly money that i just havent got at the minute. can someone please help?

HI all, need a bit of advice, I have got hold of a nice shiny petrol cap, the one on the bike at the moment is rusty and horrid, so I am trying to change the key mechanism out of the barrel but no matter what I do it wont come out, tried poking it prodding it and even talked to it nicely but no joy it seems to be in there for ever, it must come out but for the life of me I can't see how, do any of you know what holds the bugger in there and can I in fact change it? My thought is that at some time some little japanese guy put the thing in there so it must come out but as above can't see how. ANY help much appreciated. Thanks All.

Hi all, advice required yet again, purchased my DT175 with a "big one" complete exhaust system, performance is quite poor with the power only arriving at 7,000rpm then tailing off at the redline 8,000. I had the original exhaust which is a bit tatty but put that on & it made a big difference, power now comes in around 6,000 & tails off around 7,500. I'm not sure of the carb jet size but when reading about the new exhaust it says jet changes are usually not required. Even with the standard exhaust I'm struggling to get much faster than 55 to 60mph, is this normal or should I check the sprocket sizes ? One again any information would be appreciated. Dave

ive noticed a rattle comeing from my fazer when stoped at lights etc it only happens when the clutch is out . when i pull the clutch in theres no rattle . any idea what could b the problem ???

Well back to the DT this morning, wow. Back to drum brakes and wobbly knobblys and 60mph flat oot. Took a few mile to dial back in with the wobbles and the (lack of) braking. And of course, the headlight. Best bit, i know the old girl can handle ANYTHING. I have ridden that bike through hell and back. She has been underwater, in snow 3 feet deep, dropped on sheet ice, salt sand and sh1t and had me as an owner for the last 25 years. She has never had it easy, she was used for proddy enduro before my 'care'.

ok, so i rode my bike today and the lights have been playing up! the bikes a 2008 yamaha xt125x completly standard. It has side lights for when the ignitions on but not the engine, then dipped & full beam. The only light thats coming on is the side beam & the full beam dash light is constantly on!? when i flick the switch between dipped & full nothing happens? Sometimes it comes back to life & works or the full beam light will start flickering. I have no idea where to start looking for a fault as im no electritian!! Has anybody got any ideas? luke

hello again people. im toying with the idea of changing the light setup on the rear of my bike, at the moment its completely standard (dt125r) and the indicators are like fog lights off a mk1 fiesta "there massive" also the rear light and plate bracket look horrible and bulky. im looking at a tail tidy and some small LED indicators, but with my dt the rear light is part of the plastic plate hanger - ive seen a few dt's where the rear light is on top of mudgaurd where as mine is below and again its massive i think this is to make way for the rack (which i want to keep to strap my jerry can onto for green lainging) i would like a small slimline rear brake light i can…

Pal of mine has a 09 TDR 125 nice bike had a few owners worked fine..till last week... Then suddenly....won't go past 40.mph? I'm wondering if that Cat ( I think it has one in the exhaust has collapsed ?) If it was an early machine i'd just say it needed a decoke? it's done 9k and not been that well looked after. he's bringing over at the weekend and I'm supposed to be an appropriate expert...hah! well people its inevitable i would end up pulling her to bits and giving my baby some new life ive bought a few bits and bobs as follows newly sleaved cylinder 3mb head athena gasket set small end bairings new piston/rings anti freeze led indicators. im gonna try get this all done before darkness sets in. now this is the first time i will try anything like this on a 2t so its all one massive learning curve, i was given advice to make sure i give everything a little bit of 2t oil for some extra protection on first startup and to help get the piston/rings into the bore. anymore tips and advice is welcome, i would take pics but i have just sold both my ip…
