So, I was given some advice to pick up a copy of "Twist of the Wrist II" - I have to say, it's one of the most informative and inspiring books about riding I've ever read! The way the book is written really speaks to you...it makes you go "oh shit, THAT'S WHY!!!" a lot...or at least, it did for me. I personally can't wait until springtime to try out all of the new techniques I've learned, like pivot steering (using your body as active suspension), keeping your arms bent (for more control), giving smooth and constant increasing throttle through a turn (for faster and safer turns), giving throttle in a turn as soon as possible (to transfer weight to the back tire for more…

No, I dont mean taking it out for a few pints and a meal. Ive been riding various bikes for a few months and only recently found out that tyres are dated. On the side wall should be four digit number (three digit on pre year 2000 tyres). This number denotes the week and year it was made. For example '0510' would mean that that particular tyre was made in week 5 of 2010. RoSPA say stored tyres shouldn't be used if they are over 6 years old from date they were made. This info may be of use the next time your buying tyres. If you do have a choice pick the younger tyre. HTH Joshua 2

Morning all, I am new, both to the forum and also motorcycling. Apologies if this has been covered before, but just wanted some information from seasoned riders. I got myself a Yamaha YBR 125 Custom in June this year after passing my CBT. This was mainly to commute to work, when breaking it in I was using country lanes (summer was decent, dry weather) so it was great fun. When I broke it in and the weather got worse I started using the A2 road (4 lane A road, practically a motorway in Kent) Here's my question. I appreciate it's a small bike, but the wind really seems to effect my ride. Even at 10mph or so. But when I see other guys (even on 125's Maurader) it doesn'…

Just watched motorway cops on bbc1. I do find those programs entertaining (not the awful american cop shows tho!). But it pissed me off at the end, is there anypoint in wasting money on a police force, if what they do achieves sod-all. One chinese illegal imigrant got 3 points and £75 fine for no license. Anothe guy who fled the scene of a crash (which utilised several police units and closed one side of the motorway) got off scott-free as there was insufficient evidence and a guy in a nicked motor got a community sentence (probably didnt turn up) even though he nicked a car and caused a -mile tailback. A polish lorry drive who fucked a biker up, got charged with car…

Does anyone else here have an interest in moto-x? My 14 year old son participates in this mental 'sport' where broken collar bones / fingers are common place. He's been riding for about a year after moving on blatting around on a quad and talks nothing but MX. He uses language that simply passes over my head (although I now know what a 'whip' and 'kicker' is) and costs me a bloody fortune. It does, however, give him a healthy respect and passion for everything two wheels and he has learned how to strip most of the bike down already (and put it back together, in the right place ) . He's currently riding a 2003 Honda CR85 (which is 'well tricked out') and hopes to move on…

Doesn't look like this one has been played here before, so.... First poster names a movie title. Second poster names a movie that shares a word from the first movie. Third poster names a movie that shares a word from the second movie. And so on... So: Star Wars Starman Man On Fire Reign Of Fire Make sense? Please try and keep posts to just the following title, rather than pages of commentary on whether or not such-and-such was a good film. OK, starting with: The Neverending Story...

Hi there. I currently ride a yamaha fazer 600 and I lost my job recently due to cut backs in the way the public sector is being funded so I'm moving to London to get a job where positions like mine are better funded- However I don't want to get political. I just want to know what riding in London is like full time. I'm gonna be living in Wood Green on a temp basis for a bit. I heard that bike theft is a pretty big problem in London. At the moment I have no way of keeping my bike indoors, but when I move again I might be able to keep it indoors. Anyone got any tips for riding in London? Should I invest in any other security devices? Or should I maybe keep m…

{{if $formValue}} {$value} {{endif}} Following a test at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya three weeks ago, the Movistar Yamaha MotoGP Team return to Barcelona for round seven of the MotoGP World Championship. After securing a third place at the Mugello circuit, being serenaded by the Italian crowds, and simultaneously taking over second place in the championship rankings, Valentino Rossi is ready to commence the championship battle in Barcelona. The Doctor has a 23-point margin to the leader in the standings and hopes to strengthen his position as a title contender this weekend at a circuit that he knows like the back of his hand. Viñales arrived in Montmeló in a good mood, after a mature ride at the Mugello Circuit. He extended his lead in the championship to 26 points with a well-deserved second place finish, giving him a healthy margin as he commences the seventh round of the 2017 MotoGP season. The young contender hopes to ride his YZR-M1 to the rostrum this weekend in front of the Catalan fans. He previously achieved four consecutive podium finishes here in the lower classes, with a second place in 125cc (2011), a first and third place in the Moto3 championship (2012 and 2013), and a second position in Moto2 (2014). In the MotoGP class he scored his best result last year, finishing just o…

Today the Yamaha Factory riders were each able to test one of the two new frames available. Tomorrow they will switch to get a feel for the other option. After a challenging outing yesterday, Viñales was a man on a mission: he was one of the first riders to venture out on track again this morning and the last to return to the pit box as the session closed. His goal for today was to try one of the new frames as well as improve his feeling with the bike in hot conditions. Whilst consistently featuring at the top of the charts for most of the day, the Spaniard wasnt shy to put in 81 laps in total and set a best time of 144.437s on his penultimate lap to finish in seco…
