Finally done it. Got a diesel car, drive a diesel truck, it was only time before I put petrol in the car or......... Yep, sussed it at 3.96L, same label, same Ultimate logo, just one is red the other black. Guess how they do it at BP! Anyway the 'eastern' staff were as helpful as the handbook permitted and I had a flat phone and 50 miles to do. Well once upon a time my old man did the same in his car, his solution was more fuel. So I brimmed it for want of a better timely solution. Well it worked, mainly because of the vacuum fuel tap meaning the bugger would start cleanly because the carbs were uncontaminated, then a VERY smoky trip home. It di…

Hi guys, Finally my new bike has arrived, been a long wait but I have to say the bike is awesome!! My background is very new to bikes, having only passed my test in February and as part of my early mid life crisis (42) decided on my first and probably last Sports bike, a 600 being way enough for me! My thing has been cars all my life, having some funky track use cars in the last 10 years i decided a sport bike was a tick box i needed to do. Back to the bike, I've tried several 600cc high output bikes and didn't get on to well with them, mostly on riding position 183cm/ 6ft1 but also as my first bike and having only brand new fast cars I decided a brand…

My bike was being suspiciously reliable lately, it must want something from me, a wash maybe. Anyway, this week after not getting what it wanted it threw all it's toys out of the pram and started stalling, usually just as you go to open the throttle. Not only this but it's down on power (when you've only got 9hp you notice a missing 1/2hp), and under heavy load at higher RPM you can hear the engine breaking up a little, definately not a fuel problem, so I'm guessing the coil is on it's way out. I would test it but my multimeter also threw a tantrum and a new coil is cheaper than a new meter. What do you guys think?

just insured my rd350lc with motorcycle direct , fully comprehensive £ 53.35p beat that ? I got a renewal quote for £110.54p from motorcycle direct , then went on gocompare who quoted me £53.35p with guess who ! yes motorcycle direct ? so I rang them up to be on the safe side and was told they don't know why it has been discounted by so much online but they went ahead and done me a policy so im one happy bunny. oh yes ! the punch line is , when I updated my information online I added my 3 penalty points and £100 speeding fine I earned from my ride home with you lot ? so the quote they sent me didn't have the three points on ?

Having just shoved a load of exhaust putty in the hole of my 1990 XJ900F I thought I'd treat the old girl to a shiny new system. Easy me thinks Motad 4:1 quick order, await parts, get out spanners, job done. Motad gone bust . Any recommendations for a compatible system or just silencer would be much appreciated.

Mot done. All clear. Season begins. I was in the garage fixing the ruddy indicators that decided to stop working till after 10 last night when I was double checking. All I could find in my spares box was a relay from a mk2 escort. Worked would you believe it, older than the tdr same connections etc. Now you can hear the plink plik as they work.

I work from home during the week and most of the times look forward to the 85 mile blast to the office. 25 miles in, while passing a few trucks in the outside lane this morning, the throttle cable in the grip decided to give the ghost. Interesting to say the least, managed to coast inbetween 2 trucks to the inside lane with the usual, as friendly as, hand signals to say the bike was toast and came to a stop on the inside of a merging slip road up ahead. Luckily it was the grip end, just broken after the little lead crimp, and not in the junction box under the tank. Still weighing up my options it looked like I was fooked where I was and leaving the bike be…

Has anyone any knowledge of these aftermarket, Chinese bore Kits for the DT being sold on ebay? They're just under £100 and was considering getting one to tide me over until I can get a proper one re-bored and painted.

Hi, Recently purchased an unfinished project off Ebay and the fella at the time said he didn't have the V5 and that the original owner "had the bike from new" and "used it on a farm". He's been on Ebay a while and his feedback was legit and on meeting him he's a bike restorer and he said that he had too much on and didn't have time to get around to finishing the rest, he bought it as unfinished too. I didn't get a whiff of anything dodgy. Anyway i used an online service where you pay a fiver and they search your VIN and if they don't find anything you get your fiver back or they send you the registration number if they do. Anyway, I got my fiver back…

Some know already but , well sometimes things feel like there is a higher order. On the vmax forum there was a fellow selling a set of carbon dymag wheels, i saw the advert September last year time but had neither the money or the need at the time. Fast forward, months of covid lock up, (i keep a little slush fund to pay for my biking which has just gone up through last year). Then the drive hub shat its self and the crap that followed. Well i stumbled back across the wheel add, no comments on the post, wheels had low miles, maybe a couple of thou. With tyres and such and with them being cheap, for dymags, i sent a message on the off chance. Well f me,…

hi everyone, I just put a new kick starter shaft in my G7 (same as the G6 and G6SB....I have no idea which one i have, but they're all the same.) as I'm reassembling the bike there in my driveway, I look down in horror, seeing a lone ball bearing laying there on the asphalt, and I have no idea where it could have come from! in the process of the repair, the motor stayed in frame, and I only had to remove the right crankcase cover. I've poured through my manual and every exploded parts diagram that bike bandit has to offer, and I've only found one ball bearing that is loose and on its own, and its in the oil pump....I knew about that one, and its s…

Advice/thoughts please. Should I just get these rewound, and if so who'd be good to do it? Or could i buy a replacement? Or maybe electronic ignition? I don't know a lot, so even if it is simple let me know please. inside the flywheel the cam runs free. This must need to be held in place. So there is a little hole in the bottom of the cam and then the retarder (I think it is called something like that), and which you can see failed and the arm of it came loose and chewed up the coils. Well, that little arm should go into that hole to hold it in place??? I'll need another one of those or have to make the old one do, but what are they called? Anyway, here's t…

Hi there, Has anyone had any experience of re-spraying a frame using S.A.S. 27 Glass Black Paint (acrylic)? I'm just wondering how hard wearing the finish would be. Any tips on how you prepared the frame and applied it would be appreciated. Alternatively, has anyone used powder coating? Cheers, Johnners

Bloody typical, bought the daughter a cbr125r as a step up from the scoot, yzf's were stupid money for old knackers before you ask. Throw in the need for cool points in this modern world i gave in. Yeah, Honda 125 bullet proof, can forget about it. Can still see Andy's 80k sr 125 in my head. Well guess who has a stripped out 125 needing a cam chain tensioner and a cam chain. Apparently 20k is about all you can expect from the cca and when it goes guess what it takes with it. Then to add insult to injury can you strip the flywheel with the standard 24/27internal puller we all have rolling around in the bottom of our kit box, nope its a one off internal threa…

Hey, I have recently purchased a dragstar off ebay and bought a pig in a poke. Its beautiful to look at and has been converted to a bobber. The previous owner has put harley controls on it and the existing wiring doesnt fit, therefore I cannot twist the throttle and I'm not a fan of holding the indicator switch as I turn (still a novice rider) I'm looking either for original controls or something that will do the job - by controls i mean left and right hand controls on the handlebars (brakes, clutch, lights, indicators, etc) Can anyone help me? Desperate to get on it as the summer months are rapidly approaching.
