Just paid the finance off the WR so I'm pretty happy for a change. A lot of people advised me not to do it and I could understand their logic. It was a struggle when I got made redundant but I scraped by. It's a nice feeling getting a brand new machine and I will be definitely doing it again, especially now with all the 0% interest deals. When I thought about it I realised it was worth it. The interest was 4.6% or something. The bike cost £4200 and the interest was £300 so all together £4500. I've had three years of problem free riding, apart from wear and tear. It was a god send after the whole XT nightmare. WR's seem to hold their value as well so after considering all …

First I would like to say hello to all, I have read a few posts and this seems like a great community. Finally I am getting another bike after nearly 10 yrs without. Somehow I went from my last bike CBR6 to a ford galaxy (not sure what happend there). Anyways, I am looking at ideally the xv1100 for many reasons BUT .. the wife is keeping the budget down on this so Im not sure that is possible unless I get lucky. So I think my options are xv750 or even xv535 (I know I know it's popular with the lady bikers). I'm not too fussed about the 535 for now to get me back into biking, its smallish but Im only 5'9 anyway. Without any further babbling, any other options…

Some financial matters came together this last week...& I must say that I've got a great wife 'cuz she gave me enough cash to add this to my 2-Wheel collection..... I'd been watching this on CraigsList for the past 3 months.....& actually test rode it 2 weeks ago...hit it off right away with the seller....who's an avid Pedal Mechanic (bicycles). So I rang him up on Saturday & got him to take $1800 plus my trusty old Gitane..... It's an '88 XT600 with less than 9k on the clock....so plenty of life left in her... For me, it's a perfect starting platform for a SuperMoto project.... best part is the most expensive parts (wheels &am…

My "new to me", 'custom painted' (sprayed purple :-( ) 1987 Fz-700 is in desperate need of a signal relay (41R-71). I understand that several models from the era had this relay, but I'm finding it nearly impossible to locate a seller. Would any of you have a clue as to what company might carry these relays (used or new)? I found a company that has them, but they want 102 US dollars (I'm in the US)!

Greetings, I recently moved to the UK from Spain and brought over my scooter, a 2007 X-Max 250. It's been a member of the family for six years, so selling or leaving it behind wasn't an option. Shortly after the arrival it was serviced and MOT'ed with no issues, but as I was preparing the documents for DVLA, it turned out I don't have the motor number. I've gone through the service manual and didn't see any indication of where to look for it. I then spent about half an hour kneeling in various positions, then took the whole seat unit off to get a better look, but still wasn't able to find an identification plate or stamp to give me this data. I also don't know the…

Hi all, can anyone offer an idea of why I find it almost impossible to find neutral when the bike is at a standstill? On paddock stands it's fine, not running it's fine but put me on it at a standstill in traffic there ain't no way...! I adjusted the gear shift (the Elephant Man must have been a previous owner as that's the only thing that would explain the size of the boots that would have shifted it adjusted like it was), chain slack, bled the clutch, changed the oil - semi-synthetic - but neutral is a no-go area. I thought it may have been as the bike stood over the winter and probably didn't do many miles over the previous few years but after 100 miles or s…

Hi. Today I was walking round a 'vintage' car & bike show. I was re-united with my old fizzy. It's been 34 years & brought back some great memories. This got me thinking if any of my other old rides are still out there. Does anyone have any ideas how to find out??? Thanx.................

About 4 weeks or so ago now me and the misses went for a much earned break in the Lakes (Keswick to be exact). Monday morning I was woken by the phone going off... bloody great news, new job just came through. To celebrate... we took a ride out to Windemere. Weather was great, not a cloud in the sky... perfect Almost at the lake with the misses on the back we noticed that someone needed to cross on the zebra crossing so we stopped to let her over... however the elderly lady behind us had other ideas A quick THUD and I was off down the road at a rate of knotts and the misses went skywards and landed back on top of the bike... great! Police, ambulance, fire brigad…

  14. Having not long passed my test, we (the wife and I) decided to go for a ride out to the south coast. I've a XJ6 'divvie' with touring kit and as the bike juddered on the front I already know that I needed to stiffen the suspension to counteract the extra weight - i mean ballast - i mean balance - OH damn it sorry luv you know what I mean, so i pumped the rear suspension right round to No.7 and it seemed okay to ride Q.1. Is the suspension set on No.7 safe to ride with a pillion as I'm not sure as its all new to me? Now on to the motorway and all was good. I'm still running in so kept it to about 5800 - 6000 revs .... most of the time. Which was fine as I still…

Hi, First off, hi guys! I'm a newbie (both to biking and this forum) and I'm looking forward to getting involved in the big bad world of motorcycling... Anyway! After taking my CBT I've fallen in love with biking and I want to pass my test. I'm looking at getting a 125cc to practice on and have narrowed it down to the Honda CG125 and the Yamaha SR125; does anyone have any experience with either of their bikes? Also, I want to receive an A2 license and as some of you may know this requires the bike the test is taken on to be between 120-125cc and capable of 100kmh (62.5 mph). I realise it may be a bit of a bone-shaker, but will the Yamaha be capable of thi…

Reading Fuff66UK's thread about him trying to find his first bike, and good luck to him finding it too btw, I got to thinking about my first bike, it was a Honda c50, me and my mate went halves on at £14 quid back in 77, and he kept it at his house cos he had a helmet, lol he's got a nice 'busa nowadays, the bastid, so what was your first bike, and I don't mean something you were riding off road at 11, but road legal aged 16 onwards? Uploaded with ImageShack.us Don't know about whether I'd want it today or not, I do wish though I'd kept my 750/4 k2 mind.
