Get a feckin 12mm nut welded on it and use a socket...as well as heat. That way you will still have the use of it while you source another.

sounds like you have a dirty fuel tap on that thing, letting just a dribble through. ...so you run the carb dry and then when stopped slowly fills again?

Black Irish Art The National Art Gallery in Dublin , a husband and wife were staring at a portrait that had them completely baffled. The painting depicted 3 black men totally naked, sitting on a bench. Two of the figures had black penises, but strangely the one in the middle was equipped with a pink one. The curator of the gallery realized that they were having trouble interpreting the painting and offered his personal assessment. He went on for over half an hour explaining how it depicted the sexual emasculation of African Americans in a predominately white, patriarchal society. 'In fact', he pointed out, 'some serious critics believe that the pink penis also reflects the cultural and sociological oppression experienced by gay men in contemporary society'. After the curator left, an Irishman approached the couple and said, 'Would you like to know what the painting is really about?' 'Now why would you claim to be more of an expert than the curator of the gallery?', asked the couple. 'Because I am the artist who painted the picture,' he replied. 'In fact, there are no African Americans depicted at all. They're just three ordinary Irish coalminers. The guy in the middle went home for lunch.

OK if theres a window thats good, I was going of my earlier RD that didnt have one. You have to open the throttle to do the window alignment dont you? so idle can be done first or last it doesnt matter on that type. However with a carb without windows it must be done first.

I dont think there is a window on those carbs you have to do it by feel,

It's a twin carb non-linked isnt it 1: Set the idle srews (throttle stops). 2: Balance the carbs.

If the carb is clean and all the airways are clear I dont see the point of trying to source a new (old) carb, it may be worse than the one you have already? I would do the cheap things first like borrow a compression tester. Your bike is easy to check as theres room to fit it without taking stuff off first. Cant you ask at a local car garage if they will do it for you for a nominal cost...I mean a repair shop of course not a dealer franchise. To me we have finally eliminated the carb as long as 1:your needle is in the right notch with the clip 2: The float height is correct at 21mm? 3: The choke is not passing fuel because of an imprinted rubber seat Do the test of compression next. Like I said before these things can be much more difficult to find than 'bike wont start issues' in my experience.

had the carb off and gave it a good clean. This chap also stated that but in fact he hadnt, I would check out the choke circuit it's basically the same carb
