What condition is the plug in when you take it out? Often the mixture is off.

Probably best to wait until about 5000 miles to make sure it's all nice and worn in. At 5000 miles change the oil and let me know and then I'll guide you through some of it.

Nice bike you got there. Any plans to buy the DEP system for it?
  5. You guys come a bit more central at all? I'm based in Herts and would be up for a ride if you're in the area.

You sure it's a 2006 YZF600R? I could have sworn they stopped making them in 2003. If it's not an R6 then it's probably not worth buying an R6 system in case it doesn't fit as they're not exactly cheap. The exhaust on mine is a 'Skorpion' although they're now known as Akrapovic. Sounds lovely and presumably gives it slightly more power. Other commonly used systems are Micron, Laser and Quill.

Just do your DAS and ride it carefully.

Hey there, I'm from the Herts area. There isn't any clubs as such but we occasionally go to the Ace Cafe in London.

I took a ride on a demo bike earlier this year when I was looking to step up from my DT125R. The initial grunt and midrange was immensely addictive and I was enjoying that a lot although the engine behaved in a bit of an odd manner it seemed. Wheelies in 1st are almost second nature as I found out as I entered my road behind a slow moving Mercedes. Along a dual carriageway I managed to clock 140km/h which was a little disappointing as I had expected so much more from a 660. I think my only real gripe with it is it's tendency to try and spit you off the front when it hits the rev limiter. I notice one of you was contemplating which bike to tour France on out of the MT or an R6. I have to say the MT would be the way to go.

Sounds to me like some novice has been playing with your powervalve. Whip off front pipe and set it up properly. Remove airbox snorkel and it should be fine.

Make sure it rides smoothly. Listen for rattles. Check wheel bearings, fork seals, head bearings etc.

What's the mileage of the bike? You don't want to go derestricting it if it's still new and not fully worn in.
  15. Think it's 120 or 125 so go up to around 130-135.
  16. If it's a front pipe you're after then DEP is the way to go.
  17. Forget the reed switch, this does nothing. Have your stock system hollowed or go buy a DEP system. Rip off airbox snorkel, upjet to 250 and off you go.

Full DEP system and fully derestrict it?
  19. I've heard a bit about this conversion. From what I'm told, the cylinder and head are a direct swap but you would have to up the jetting slightly and also advance the oil pump to suit. Assuming the bike is properly derestricted, I'd start with a 270-280 main jet and work from there. I don't know the size of the pilot jet offhand so you'll need to strip the carb and note this. Go to next size up.

Don't be letting people give you false impressions about the CDI. My 2001 model was incredible on stock electrics. Firstly, remove the seat and get the airbox snorkel off which will allow the engine to breathe better. The CF reeds don't do a lot so don't bother with those. Polish the YPVS and exhaust port. See if you can get an old toothbrush or something to scrub the top of the piston too as the more decoking you can do, the better the end result will be. The YPVS should have the valve sitting exactly flush with the top of the exhaust port when fully open. You can check this by putting your finger inside the port and adjust it by feel and check it by switching the ignition on and allowing the servo cycle to centre the valve.
  21. Don't they just call it DPBMC? That standing for 'Deep Purplish Blue Metallic Colour' or something.
  22. Willenium replied to kev's post in a topic in Dual Sport, Offroad Bikes
    You can't unfortunately.
  23. Whip off the seat and remove the airbox snorkel too. That's a big restriction.

I've got an old Akrapovic can on mine which bears the old badge of 'Skorpion' which unfortunately reads more like 'Shorpion' Also fitted is a tinted DB screen which I think goes quite well with it. See more pics at Bikepics
