  1. You, sir, are a legend for replying in so much detail.. Once I've unpacked everything (Just moved house) I'm back outside with the innards of the bike hanging out. I'll let you know (with pics) what i've done. As for the fuse related statement, I swapped the 15a fuse from the relay into the bike itself just to test, and all the electrical systems work perfectly well (In fact, I forgot to swap the fuses back!) Thanks once again for the reply, I'll message back here once I've done my stuff!! Tom

wait. Hang on a sec... This is in the insurance section... COMPLETELY ignore my last post!! My Cover is with Bennets. I'm a L plate warrior that's been riding for just over a year. 1 year NCB and my insurance is for a showroom new YBR125 in red. My quote is £138 for the year.. Sorry for the dumbness in the other post! Tom

If the inevitable happens, and it does get stolen, I'd recommend a DataTag. Thatcham recognised safety device, so will lower your insurance premium down a wee bit (Seeing as yours will be rather high just after a claim)
  4. Hey fellas. Me again I took the advice of this topic and plunged in for a set of those lights along with the relay. Got them home, wired them up exactly as the instructions said. Turned the engine on, let it idle for a few secs to charge up a little (something my uncle always told me) then flicked the full beam switch. Nothing... Quadruple checked the wiring, all was good. Thought it would've been a dodgy set of lights/relay. Took them both back and got a replacement set. Tried them again, and had absolutely nothing again... Then, as a final straw, I wired it directly to the battery (Bad. I know, but I just wanted to see whether the light worked - It didn't) Any one have any clue as to what on earth is going on? Or should I just take the lights and relay back and get myself my £41 back? Cheers in advance Tom

Great! Thanks guys. I had another blast over the manual, but couldn't see anything regarding letting the engine cool. No idea where I got that idea from then! Thanks again

Oh, brilliant! All of this time, I've been pegging along in the car whenever we go anywhere that's an hour or so away! That's a really good thing to know, but I seem to recall reading something in the manual stating to let it cool down after 1-2 hours of use?? I'll re-read the manual and make sure I didn't "Think" I read it! Thanks for the reply!

Hey guys. I'm planning a trip down to Liverpool from Irvine, Scotland. Problem here is, my wee 125 doesn't have a radiator and is air cooled. What I was wondering was... Does anyone know how long I could ride for without the engine overheating? I've heard somewhere around an hour, but I've been on a round trip round to Kilmarnock twice from my house, and that was about an hour and a half of country road. The engine was hot, but felt like it was the same temperature of a short 10 mile journey. I do know that it WILL eventually overheat and can't do the trip in one go. Thanks in advance Tom
  8. Hey. I had this problem only once. The electric starter wouldn't crank the engine when I left it (coverless) in the back garden all day. The only way I got it to work was to kickstart it. Once the engine had been idling for around 10 seconds, I turned it off and tried the electric starter again. That seemed to have solved it. Maybe give it a try? Tom

I've got the cheap one from Argos. Got a hook for the underside, so it won't blow away, and has vents near the mirrors so the vapour can escape. Last year, the bike was out of use (I was on holiday) for around 4 months. Not one spec of rust on it. Needed a clean, though obviously. Link is here: http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7400311/Trail/searchtext%3EMOTORCYCLE.htm EDIT: Also, chaining to a lamppost isn't the best of ideas, as it's council property. I have a friend who got a ticket for doing that. Use the luggage straps to put the chain through the back wheel, and get yourself an Oxford Disk Lock as well (£26 from Argos) That'd also help your insurance, too.

Gorgeous Yam. I prefer your model to the latest ones for some reason. Looks in good nick

Thank you. Unfortunately, I couldn't find anything on that website. The cable ties seem to be holding for now, so that's all good. Thanks for your efforts Tom

Oh! I've had that windscreen washer far too many times to recall. And with a scratched to hell visor, I'm forced to wear sunglasses (I'm a cheap-arse and can't afford a new helmet) Another thing that annoys me with Beemers is their "xenon" headlights which are adjusted to full beam all of the fecking time. Was riding home last night from the in-laws-to-be's and was tailgated by... Yep, you guessed it, a black BMW. Just as I was pulling into our turning, I swerved back onto the road and made the BM slow down. Gave him a glaring look as I did turn in, too. Must admit that it pisses me right off.

Hey guys. Was washing the bike yesterday, and noticed that my Throttle cable linkage thingy (The place where the cable links up to the fuel valve - I think) has snapped. I've temporarily fixed it with some cable ties, but I would very much prefer to repair it as soon as I can. Here's a picture for those who have no clue what I'm on about Any idea what it's called, and where I can get a replacement from? (Preferably in the UK) Thanks Tom

Oh that's close to where I am! I'm in a wee place called Auchengate, a few miles from Irvine/Troon/Kilmarnock! Congratulations on passing your Module 1! Almost there
  17. That looks sexy! You've done an incredible job on it. *Now wants an R6 bodykit for his little YBR* How much did all of that come to? I'm sure quite a lot of people would love to know
  18. As far as I've learnt, the YBR's stock battery wouldn't even be able to handle a 45w headlight, never mind a speaker set. It's a shame that you've already bought the product, as I would have recommended using a bluetooth stereo headset (You only need it for one ear) and play music or listen to the radio via mobile phone. If you do have a bigger/better battery, I think the alternator wouldn't be able to handle it either. Don't quote me on that, though! Sorry I couldn't be of more assistance

This tube is an outlet from the Airbox. As far as I know, it dilutes the exhaust gasses to be more environmentally safe, but it also helps with performance. If you take the pipe off for a short while, the bike sounds a little louder, but the performance of the bike is horrendous. Best to keep it on and firmly tightened.

Hey guys. I have a small problem with my helmet's visor. My wee brother in law decided it'd be a good idea to play with my helmet and place it visor down into our lawn that's covered in rocks and stones. Needless to say, the visor is now scratched beyond all hope of repair. I've tried polishing and using the special wax stuff. No joy Now has come the time where I'm scouring the internet for a replacement visor, only to find nothing at all in the way of them. Do you guys know if the GMAC Jaguar is exactly the same as another helmet with a different name, or if there are any replacement visors out there? I don't really want to spend money on a new helmet as money is rather tight :\ Thanks in advance Tom

Like the guys said, there's not much point in trying to make a 125 go much faster. (Says the guy who's tried ) The best thing you can do really is buy an NGK Iridium Spark Plug (CRXHiX) That's helped my wee YBR out performance wise. With that spark plug, you'll also get better fuel economy. I'd say I get around a 10-15% increase on fuel economy compared to the stock plug. The next best thing to do for the YBR is to get rid of those god awful stock tyres and buy yourself a pair of Michelin Pilot Sportys. Immensely different feel in the wet, no sliding at all (even if you push it a little)

Yeah? I'll have to polish mine up! I've just remembered that the ones I have in my bike now are Xenons. Unfortunately, I can't find where I bought them from!

I am, by no means, mechanically trained, but could there be a loose connection to the battery? I have no idea, but I think the engine needs the battery to remain running.

Hi mate. I've been using these bulbs on my YBR for about 2 months now, no problems at all. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ULTRA-WHITE-BULB-UPGRADE-for-HONDA-XR/XLR-125-Varadero_W0QQitemZ300348386270QQcmdZViewItemQQimsxZ20090917?IMSfp=TL090917227006r30966#ht_3917wt_939 I've just bought another today, for spares. They're VERY bright for 35w and you can easily see ahead of you when riding at night. EDIT: Forgot to mention, I have an '09 YBR, but as far as I know, the previous models use the same fitting.
