when you say you damaged the tophats, were they peened over? just get a local engineering firm to ream them out. I had to with the first lot of bronze bushes, the second lot i used the threaded bar.

TZR50. After rebuild how long do I need to run it in for.
i rebuilt an auto scooter with a fresh cylinder. the clutch bites at 5k revs so you have no choice on the engine speed TBH. good advice on tickover and letting it cool, re-torquing head. just don't let it under or over rev IMHO.

your supposed to check squish with a piece of solder from inside the spark plug. Not sure what the DT is supposed to be though

petcock removal/fuel tank cleaning
I soaked the Gilera tank with white vinegar, shifts any rust and leaves a clean tank inside. Just put some light oil inside and swish around to protect it afterwards
