  1. holy shit, that is awesome want...
  2. Hey peeps! with my pending departure overseas it seems i have already spent my bonus, behold the glory of my latest toy, 17k on the clock and a few extra toys added on for good measure It was my dads bike about 7 years ago, he rode it for a while and parked it up under cover in the garage... where it stayed for 5 years until i decided it would be a respectable step up from the rattley battle-scarred XJ600, managed to dig it out from under the crap that has accumulated in the garage today and after installing a fresh battery and turning the fuel tap to the on position (the XJ has a vac operated tap, im not used to this!) it fired into life and ran perfectly, it is a H*nda after all love the sound of that D&D exhaust system... got a bit of bark to it
  3. Frame and wheels are now in Glenns' capable hands at Rolling Art in Swindon, should have them back next week, need to get the rest of the engine mounts off of the engine and get it shotblasted/painted up ready to drop back in, then the swingarm can go back on along with the wheels
  4. rode back from oxford yesterday, the XJ wouldnt start under its own power so i had to jumpstart it off the kia, heated grips werent working because the connector had fallen off the battery, rode home 35 miles and was frozen, rode back to benson about 7-8 and had to stop every 10 miles and thaw my hands out over the engine, pretty sure the XJ was suffering from a bit of carb icing aswell as it was doing the hop-skip-jump coming into the services
  5. Hello and welcome to the asylum! If you choose to restrict your bike to 33bhp (and on an R6 thats probably a wise choice) the world is your oyster when it comes to insurance, gocompare will usually bring up the best deal, when i was 18 carol nash were rediculously overpriced, and now im 19 they still are... an R6 as a first bike however may not be the best move, my XJ600 was mental enough and thats a 23 year old 80hp rust-bucket!, plus if/when you throw it down the road think of the cost of replacing those plastics!. have fun and keep the rubber side down
  6. 1989 Yamaha DT50MX at 16 1994 Jawa 350 (never got it road legal, sold to a mate a year later) 1989 Yamaha XJ600 (got it when i was 17 as my first big bike, 2 years later i still got it) 1983 Yamaha XJ650 Turbo
  7. haha, the wife buggered off 14 years ago!
  8. the frame is ready, woohoo! , finally got round to fabricating some new engine mounts, no way of telling wether they will actually match up wihen it comes to mounting the engine but there are ways around that, will be taking it down to rolling art on tuesday to be shotblasted/acid dipped/powder coated along with the wheels Pics are of the old man welding the new mounts on, my welding is not exactly brilliant (looks like a pidgeon has shit on a newspaper) so i left it to his many years of expertise. it seems my blood, sweat and swear words are paying off, check out the blog for more goings-on
  9. Thanks nayruf, i have bought a new set of shoes but either they didnt come with springs or i lost them as the box was in the back of my car for quite some time, will have a look on fleabay though
  10. what the feck? i missed it, bollocks...
  11. Hey peeps the back end of the XJ turbo is more or less ready to go back on, the wheels and frame are going down to Rolling Art in swindon to be refurbished and the forks are going to Philpots in luton, theres only a few things left to source and the puzzle is complete, one of these parts is the rear brake shoes springs, the rear brake shoes are EBC Y515s, the old ones were rust as hell and i want to make sure i get the springs right to prevent any chance of failure
  12. Reviving a dead post here, lol cheers for the input everyone, i havent even looked at this generator since last time i posted as have been cracking on with the XJ650 Turbo

  19. i dropped a WR125 in there last year, rode up on my DT, got chatting to one of the sales guys and got chatting, asked to sit on the bike to make sure i can reach the floor, went to put it back on the stand but didnt push it back enough (giggity), went to get off it and it fell over on me
  20. bollocks was going to go to their open day this year, i went a few years ago with a mate and it was a great crack, even got a set of gloves i bought from there years ago they will be missed
  21. haha, good one up.yours more shotblasting and spraying last night, im running out of things to paint, need to weld some new engine mounting lugs onto the frame and get it sent off to be refurbed and then i can start putting this heap of crap back together. blasting the fairing mount was very slow
  22. No I still felt it was too much money to be spending, I did make a cheeky offer but not heard anything more I wouldn't mind buying a few beers at the camping weekend, maybe finding myself some hot young biker chick and rock the tent a bit, I may only weigh 60kg but its not the size of the hammer but the length of the nail that counts
  23. Bought myself a shotblaster next week and Its brilliant!, managed to strip down the swingarm, tripple trees and airbox and have them painted within 4 hours, check out the blog for info On that note if anyone wants anything shotblasted let me know
