andywolf79
You can do an hpi check and fill in the engine number and frame number and omit the reg and it should hopefully come back with the age and status of the bike and possibly the reg it used to have. Some hpi checks require the reg to do the search but there are a few that will use basic information but you might have to go through a few to find the ones that do. Alternatively if you write to the dvla they are pretty helpfull and will be able to help depending on how busy they are. Good luck.
fosdyke
I had this years ago with a 76 RS100 - never did get the reg! But on the bright side the DVLA have a form for getting the reg using the engine and frame numbers - don't know if they charge these days though. - Otherwise you have the re-register at your local office - they will give you an age related mark based on a points system - so if your frame and engine numbers match then you get so many points etc etc. Be prepared for it to cost around £70 though - and you usually have to take the bike there! Good luck
