  1. I'm a big fan of minimal bikes so it looks especially good to me
  2. I've got a pair of 023's fitted to my GSX1400 and they transformed the bike totally, I used to have 020's on it and they were never exactly confidence-inspiring to put it mildly but since I fitted the 023's it's like an entirely new and much better handling bike
  3. I've just started working on a 1980 XS650SE that I picked up last weekend and amongst it's many problems is the clear part of the front brake master cylinder has turned a strange opaque white colour! I've never seen one go like this before, does anyone know if it can be restored or do I have to track down a replacement?
  4. I dread to think how much I've spent over the years and me being a compulsive customiser really hasn't helped!! One of my bikes is a 79 Guzzi 1000 that I've owned for about 21 years now, it's been restyled a number of times and currently sits half built but fitted out with gawd knows how much handmade ally stuff-over the years I have kept all the receipts in case I needed to make an insurance claim but they've all been put into a biscuit tin and I'm never going to add them up!
  5. Just a thought but is your air filter clean? A clogged air filter will allow the bike to start but then as it doesn't allow air through fast enough the motor will bog down and die.
  6. Yep yellow with clip-on, rearsets, race fairing, and a race mega that could be heard over a mile away!!! I bought it from Rayners in Chadwell Heath for £575 and sold it 2 years later for £500, I reckon you could easily add anothe 0 on that price these days though!
  7. Excellent stuff mate Back when I first passed my test I went and bought a Ducati 900 which was a bit of a beast for me being only just 5'8" and I only went about 8 stone back then but i got used to it. Some bikes can be a bit of a problem if you're not the biggest person in the world but most are ok so I'm sure you'll be fine
  8. Hi there. I had the same problem on my GSX1400 but found a local car upholsterer who cut a full two inches out of the seat foam then made a new cover for it-and only charged £55 for the job
  9. I had a GT250 for a while, paid £40 for it off some bloke in Romford! You couldn't describe it as being in mint condition though Back in my teenage years I had a BSA Bantam, then a BSA Victor 250 (probably the most unreliable bike ever!), then a 250 Ducati Desmo before passing my test and moving up to a Ducati 900GTS.
  10. I'm of an age where I missed such things, it was 250's on L plates and the test was round the block 3 times and an emergency stop!
  11. Well I've just got to say hello to anyone who calls their bike Dave, I'm sure he'll look after you
  12. Cheers for the words of welcome folks DirtyDT I originally came from Dagenham but I've slipped across the border into Suffolk now! blackhat250 you were pretty close mate, got my first licence and my moped in 73
  13. Hi All I've just picked up a 1980 XS650 US Custom that needs just a bit of TLC!!!! It's not my first Yamaha as back in the 80's I had what was possibly the first LC250 in England as I never did see another on a V plate, other than that I've had quite a few other bikes of Japanese, British and European origin and even a Russian one!!!! As for the old geezer bit at the top I've had bikes ever since I got my first licence back when Slade, Mott the Hoople and T Rex were in the charts so you can work that out for yourselves
