  1. 90mph or 90kph? i just dont see a 90cc doing 90mph..
  2. i didnt realize i could post in there as i tried to use the wanted section once and it dindt work. so i havent bothered using that area, any way i posted a reply there now so thnx for the link. but would a dt seat fit?
  3. how is the air on it? i have had issues starting bikes because of the air filter. but having said that those were close to dead b4 i started. it sounds like not enough air or sparking at the wrong time to me.. But i have never worked on a bike that new to be honest with you. if it hasnt got a carb i havent got a clue.
  4. noticed that my seat is quite a bit on the rusted side of things.. wondering what seats will fit the bike straight off as it seems to be a bit difficult to find ones for the rsx 100
  5. 1st off if i am also quite attached to my nether regions... and if i said i didnt want to change the baby because i was attached to my new baby. i would lose my afore mentioned nether regions.. secondly. to be fair i do get quite a lot of my own way, i just suffer when it comes to doing things that wont make money lol.. I get to work on electronics for hours on end because she knows 1st thing the money hits the bank shes going to spend it.. I dont really get to work on the bike because she knows every time i say "A HA!" it usualy results in some expensive parts.
  6. My wife always has choires for me to do when we get up there.. "paint the bedroom... Lay the carpet in the hall.. carry these boxes.. change the baby..." so all i get to do is little things evry time i go out for a smoke.. Cigarets last longer and longer ... (i tend not to light them for a while now lol) i am nearly done with house things though. So the rebuild has to be coming soon. should only take me a day barring exessive nagging.
  7. i wonder if this explains the "can my 50cc bike go 90mph thread"
  8. ok back at the rxs today. il just give a summary so things are known. and this thread will probably be in use for a while.. Got the rxs for free from a friend (actually swaped it for a bed) My friend said that he bought it from a guy who said it had gone through its last mot no probs and had a new piston and rings. my friend had the bike and noticed it was low on power and repetedly tried to clean the carb. hes not an expert or anything but im sure he could manage that. as we used to work on engines together just tinkering "as you do" I got the bike and checked it over and found the spark plug had been over tightend. so i replaced the head. i have all the gaskets and bearings i need for a rebuild of the engine but mean while i wanted to try and narrow down what the issue really was. I have the bike running It starts up first kick even. no choke needed even when its freezing cold. It has black oily junk all over the baffle which i have cleaned. and it is leaking exhauust gasses where the downpipe connects to the exhaust. (the black oily stuff comes out there too) I can ride it around my garden in 1st maxing out at 10mph. But cant take it for a reall run as its sorn. Ok thats the summary.. now the lack of power. I found out today what my friend means. about lack of power. I stalled the bike a couple of times when doing a slow turn at the top of the garden (figured it was due to low rpm because i didnt want to crash through the fence or hit the heavy cement planters.) so i decided Just to neutral it and ppush that turn. at the other end of the garden its not as restrictive (no heavy planters to crash in to so i can do the turn just fine. ) i decided to take the turn i can do no probs faster to see if i could get some speed out of the bike. so i open the throottle a bit more as i was turning "slight up hill" and it bogged down I had to get my feet down and help it allong. then i had the throttle wide open when i was back on the flat and it just didnt want to do anything. Felt like it was just enough Rpm to be moving and not stalling. if i closed the throttle any it would stall.. But then it would decide it was ok again and you could get a decent bit of speed again, so i tried to do the fast up hill turn at speed again.. and it bogged down again.. But was ok when i was on the flat.. (the slight up hill is really not a hill at all the front wheel is probably 2 inches higher then the back at most.) So i decided to heck what the engine would rev up to in neutrall as it really seemed that it needed more Rpm. I slowly opend the throttle in neutrall and i was pretty dissapointed to see it maxed out atbout 6k. "clock has 12k on it " If we assume that this is the issue my friend was talking about. and we assume that he cleaned the carb properly. What els could be the issue.. I have a reed valve block standing by if thats a potential culprate. But to me revs amxing out at 6k seems to be a fule thing.. I adjusted the throttle cable so it was as tight as i could have it without altering the idle rpm. but it stil tops out at 6k.. so any one have any ideas? P.S sorry for the long post.
  9. the whole tank leaked out??? im sure that should take quite a while.. are you sure it came out of the over flow? id have a look at the fule line from the tap to the carb.. could be knackerd, or if u have a inline fule filter "one of those clear jobbys" that could be cracked and leaking..
  10. i was going for brute force lube and ignorance ... but a jig sounds like a good idea lol.
  11. yep and crank seals and all of the engine bearings (barring the pistons and conrod bearings) I have everything piled up ready to go.
  12. well id love to take it for a thrashing. but SORN, and a garden where i can manage 10MPH in 1st isnt going to do it lol. il see about sealing the exhaust up better.
  13. ok so i was able to get up to the house again today, and had some time to tinker with the bike. "rxs 100" i put a inline fule filter on there and adjusted the carb as best i could so it idles at about 1.3 "seemed to do that just fine and i left it just ticking over for a good 30 mins as i did other stuff" as its sorn I couldnt take it for a proper test. and i still havent re built the engine any way, All i have done so far is put on a new head. (using the old gasket. seems to be sealing well though) Any way. i have a prety long garden "not wide but long" so i took it up and down the garden a few times. "managed to get 10MPH! " obviously never managed to get in to 2nd.. but i noticed. It seems to be blowing out a lot of smoke where the exhaust connects to the down pipe.. It also seems to be dripping lots of black horrible oil from the same place.. I decided to check the baffle and that too was cover with black oil. Im assuming that this is an engine seal/gasket some where that needs replacing. but im wondering if it could just be because i have 2stroke oil in the fule. And the 2 stroke oil pump is pumping more in there,. just never seen oil come from there. i have tried playing with the carb to get it running leaner, but at the moment its as good as i can get it using trial and error. dont know when i will have the time to strip down and rebuild it. but it is on the cards sometime during the winter months,
  14. the correct reply to "test" is "icle" just so you guys know
  15. lol yep i see a LOT of parts on the bike. "its a hell of a thing when you see a bike and think of it in parts :(" But im guessing the insurance people now own the bike and its going to be a washing machine or some thing which is not something i would be happy about.
  16. i prefer 2 stroke. But if i was puting my wife on a bike.. it would be 4 stroke. to me a 2 stroke is just better.. Easy to work on. Better preformance right from the start "acceleration" Lighter and easier to move about. not that many moving parts to go wrong. i know that emissions may be an issue, but surley it can be rectified. Places like india must prefer 2 storkes. just because of the ease of maintaining them. So i really dont understand how people can say 2 strokes need to go buh bye and replaced with 4 stroke. The only benefit i see in regards to 4 stroke when you concider general day to day use. is that a 4 stroke 125 for a learning rider is going to be more forgiving when they let out the clutch for the 1st time.
  17. i have had some broken screws removed with a flat headed screw driver pressed againt any part of the screw that is not flush.
  18. The only Wonder about it is I Wonder who the hell decided it was good enough. the lighting is a joke but the horn is rediculous... you have RINNNGA DING DING DING DING of the excelent 2 stroke. and "merp" from the horn.. Id be better of shouting, heck im sure whispering would be louder. I think I will have to do one of those mods where you mutilate the stato to get 12v. but i dont think that will help the horn at all. there must be a 12v kit for these things some where.
  19. still wondering if this has been turned in to coke cans.. apart from the forks and handle bars it looks in good condition although i imagine if thats happend to the forks the frame could be broken.
  20. you should see the light on my rxs.. if im not revving the nuts off it, i may aswell have a candle in a jam jar at the front of the bike.. "something needs to be done" oh and i cant hear the horn over the engine either lol.
  21. technically mine has been putaway for ages. but im using these winter months to make it road worthy. next year it will be being put away in the winter. i dont like heavy rain and huge winds.
  22. i some how doubt 90mph.. i think more like 50-65Mph just going from the CC of the barrel though. difficulty starting could be a lot of things. and with the engine work done to it it could be a compression issue, seals. mixture.. but i cant speculate on that really to many variables.. any way not a expert on any of this so maybe some one will come in and correct me
  23. that poor bike Glad to hear your ok.. Was your bike a member of an organ donation scheem.. because i have an rxs I dont think it needs any organs but you never know.. so please dont let them turn it in to coke cans.
  24. i know a professional body work/paint guy. he will do it for me at low cost. so should turn out epic. i will do the prep work 1st "sanding and probably primer it" then he can do the rest. figured im striping it all down in the next few days any way. so may as well send the asthetics off to be painted whilst i have the engine in bits. also i got a replacment side panel (right "you can seeits missing from the airbox in my avatar) but it was blue, so i wont be trying to colour match and have one sparkeling panel and the test all dull... i need to re do a lot of the wiering whilst im at it. When i was checking the indecators the rear right one wasnt working. upon closet inspection one of the wires was just dangeing loose. that is enough insentive for me to check the whole thing out. Il probably paint the frame black my self whilst im at it.
