  1. outworking in Dubai sry Bhurthorpe is a nice little show & the Lymm one too ! but I`ll miss this also , grrr will be off down the A49 to Glastonbury then across to St Davids early September so at least I`ll get some nice runs in dare I say it ......... on my "new" RC31
  2. cancelled ? why have they cancelled the best show of the year ? if I don`t go anywhere else , I always make sure I attend this one with a new restoration / project if possible . even the parking area bikes were worthy of a few photos , it was the highlight of the year for me . what a joke ... Pete / Wigan
  3. Hi , i stick to the standard gearing and use the GENUINE front sprocket as it has a rubber guide , pattern ones are rubbish . Fit a Scottoiler and the DID 50 zvm ? standard chain . My FJ has now done 80,000 + miles from new and only had one new chain ... Pete *
  4. Deleted Haynes Bike Show post 15th September ? and some guy waffling on about a couple of youtube vids i posted , thats the internet for ya i suppose ... :P

  6. hi there Chris , i did 30 000 miles+ on my RXS and had a similar issue once , it could possibly be the needle valve is worn out , totally messing up the fuelling ... this cost around £15 from Yammy if i remember correctly , i might even have one somewhere if you`re lucky but it will take some finding / Pete *
  7. a YB 100 side stand fits RXS 100 as i have done this ...
  8. i agree about fuel , is all chemicals now thats true ya , i`ll look into a larger jet , be careful out there , bye for now ...
  9. timing was the issue i think , someone meddling pfff , was a brand new piston and had run in for 1000 plus miles , main jet is standard 130`s i think it is ( needle is on the centre clip position ) bike was running ok at moderate revs but then on other occasions was terrible , could not keep any decent pace up hills without full throttle even though it was not revving high , was all i could do to keep going ... i changed carbs and all the internals then holed the piston .
  10. ahhh yes , sorry , i have 2 sets and could see one assembly was deformed so i fitted the ok ones which looked flat against the housing
  11. everything is brand new yammy , all gaskets and pipes , this has all been checked again after holing a piston and cleaning all the ally debris out , i will run it now and see what happens , maybe it will settle down as you say . i`ll upload some pics too ... can i just add , looking at Venturas ? recent photos , i dont like the idea he has used pink overflow pipes as carb oil feed ...
  12. apologies for mixing up 2 topics AirHead , yeah the pin is just actuating the spring , i tip it on its side and have checked so many times its beyond a joke now , i will check the breather stub , is a good idea K
  13. can i just add something to this , i was wondering about that hole myself ! my airbox has one in exactly the same place but it has a piece of sticky oblong foam covering it ... that looked stock factory so i left it alone .
  14. yeah thankyou for clarifying that AirHead , after visiting my local bike mechanic this evening , we found tdc roughly first and it appears there is no mark on the engine , well there is but on the opposing side of the timing rotor marks when at TDC ( sort of above the front clamping bolt area ) , the baseplate has a line roughly in the centre of one of adjustment bolts ( the top one) , anyway we found 1.8 mm BTDC with a micrometer dial guage and marked the engine case and set the baseplate accordingly , strobed at 3000 revs like you said and reset the air screw and idle , now shes much happier and more relaxed at tick over ( think i will try a 9`s plug also ) ... if i can stop the float bowl overflow issue am sure everything will be ok , have changed the needle assembly twice for new ones and even all the carb has been swapped with new internals , i set floats to 21mm and still fuel escapes from pink overflow pipe ... any ideas on this ? Happy Biking / Pete *
  15. note down the frame number and visit a reputable Yamaha dealers parts dept who will look up specific items on the computer to check availability and prices for you ...
  16. * additional notes ~~~ bike has been running weird , low to medium throttle ( say 6000 ) is fine but a recent 200 mile trip showed she was not 100% at all , struggling to pull 35mph on full throttle in certain circumstances pfff , i could not stop the carb overflowing no matter what i tried , changing the float height 10 times or more even so there was not enough fuel ! so i changed the new needle valve for another new one = still same problem , i changed the floats from an identical carb = still same lol , changed the whole carb tranferring all the new valves and needle ect into the other carb body , then she holed a piston ! , i think this issue is timing related as it was the only thing i had not checked after purchase , so i`m trying to set the ignition at the moment after fitting another 1 mm over piston , i have carefully taken out the small tube in the header , sure she`ll be fine after i set timing , i hope ... happy biking ! / Pete Lanc`s
  17. hello , i`ll keep it short ~ after trying to adjust my timing via a strobe light ( as i have no dial guage ) , i see three marks on the rotor close together and 1 on the baseplate / engine , do i set my timing to the first mark and it advances to the others when revved ? ( someone has been messing around in there and it was the only thing i haven`t looked at but i knew something was awry as bike was running weird ) motors back together with another 1mm oversize piston but i need to reset this timing ... thx in advance / Pete *
  18. that is the correct baffle pictured for RXS 100 , if you think about it it was difficult to remove , so how could you possibly fit it with " packing" ?
