    New Bike

Verry nice something about thoes old triumps they look more modern. Is it still 6v points or has someone got it fixed up with a elec ignition. 12v?
  2. Before even thinking of selling it for parts as you rarely end up selling allof the bike in parts .if your not into restoring it put up a reserve of say 800.00 and try selling it whole thenext person who does want to restor it would have what they need to make a proper bike. That said I would first pull the heads off and soak the pistons in desiel fuel the most likely reson it's seized is the piston are stuck from rust and if they are not broken most likely could be used again with a good cleaning and fresh rings. It looks like you have a whole bike minus a side plate so if your not in kind of rush to make the bike perfect it just looks like alot of cleaning polishing and paint. As for profit after restoration more like you will spend more but if you hang on to it for another 20 yrs then well who knows. I would do the resto and just ride it now and then for the cool factor
  3. Just a quick question doesn`t anyone rebuild cylinders over there cause we have lots of places that do it here.for around 200 bucks and personaly I find re worked barrels are heat stressed and tend to run better longer The bike looks nice so far looking foward to the finished bike posted
  4. New never hurts but might not be nessary. Spend a fewbucks on a none contact temp gun and check the temps all is prob ok and your woring about nothing John you may never hear the fan run in the climate you live in ..it`s more of a back up for high temps that you guys realy never see. here it`s been 30 c for weeks not a barely drop of rain for a month nights 25c we need fans just to keep the bike from over heating in traffic but they go off soon after you get roling. anyway let everyone know how you make out
  5. Not realy matching tires is a good thing as the were made to work with eachother. But different tires work better in different ways so mixing and maching can only work if you know what tires work the way you like them too. Them demons work very well in the rain in my op.but suck in the dry again my op. Battel axe dry good ...wet EHH. just my opinon. I can only say what I know and how the tires work for me. Not what would work for you. But I have always liked metzellers me33 on a light bike on the front dry or wet they come up to temp quick and push watter out well as they have lots of tread blocks groves. Best bet to find the right tire is look at every bike like yours and see who is running what if most run a certian brand type then it cant be that bad ..unless they are all cheap buggers. A trip to the local track will unfold a great deal of info talk to the guys running your bike.
  6. Hi Marcus While this should be 2 posts 1 in the new mebers section and 1 in workshop to keep the thread going .I will say this the float needle & seat should be checked as well the floats themself. Just to check they actualy float old bike like that... the floats get holes in them and no longer float. and the seat/needle can't stop the fuel. If the bike was stored with fuel and tap open and the floats didn't stop it from running in then It only has 1 place to go down through the carb and into the motor ..past the rings and straight into the bottem end of the motor. Run and re flush the oil afterwarming up O yea Welcome to the YOC
  7. LOL nope .... not a care in the world about bikers ...only the sewers..... they seem to always put them in the most inaproiapte places. On that note buy realy good tires the best you can NOT afford.......... the ones that cost 2x as much as you make in a month, then they will sort of stick on man holes, at least give you a fighting chance.. I have said this before.... If i had to put up with the rain like you guys have to I would be running intremediate DOT.. cert..race rain tires FUCK the cops. the dam things stick like glue. And my life is worth the extra cost of replacing tires often. 3 most important things good bucket on your head,,,,,,,,,,,,,,good leathers and ..... WAIT for it ..... ......TIRES!!!! # 1 You wont need the bucket or leathers if you have good tires and ride with your head NOT your Balls
  8. The thermostat must be opening if not then it would boil over or run cold if stuck open and the fan wouldn't need to come on check the eng temp with a temp gun. The white chunky stuff does it keep comming back? or did you just ride through some stuff on the road
  9. K seal form Solv-tec works very well www.solv-tec.com don't bother if the coolant is mixed in the oil but if its only blowing out it will seal it in about 20min run time
  10. If it leasking out there won't be coolant in the oil most likely
  11. A hour is more than long enought to trip the fan on ..probably what is happening is air is traped arund the switches not alowing them to be heated by coolant. is the thermostat opening? If the white chunky stuff is coolant you have to be loosing coolant from the system. You can put some head gasket in a bottle to temporaly fix it.
  12. Not nessarly ..water boils at 130f and the cooling system operates at `180f the switch probably wont close untill 185f or higher to turn the fan on some dont come on untill 210.
  13. That was my thought leaking crank seals. I use propane to check O next time can you change your font it's realy hard to read tiny little words

  15. Hey boon welcom to the yoc grate intro. If I read the flyer right its free to attend.
  16. Not good you got to check the run out on the hub and disc......... even the new one afeter installing something is wrong...I run brakes ??? I don't know how many years and I am HARD on them. Stoppies are so much fun ..I keep filping back and forth between SBS and EBC but always sintered bronze medium grade. I can dry them up quick and life is ok by me. but NO way I can burn up a set in a month let alone 3 in a year..... you need to look at your brakes very closely ..........something must be stuck
  17. Ehmmm dt first rule of paint test first on hidden surface RIGHT????? Sorry to rub it in but ???

  23. LMAO He was prety ugly his girlfriend is prob a fat sow
  24. My appoliges just sounded realy sketchy needing all the parts one would need to convert a stolen bike into a ridable bike. The projects page could use some new picts
  25. Your looking at the eng the right way. any chance you can post a picture of your heads problem It may be fixable,if it just the threads that are striped out you can put a heli coil in.. if part of the head is broke out any good welder can build it back and then drill and tap new threads. And file it back flat and even with the rest of the head. Dragstar and classic same eng. Most likely why you can't find a front is cause they get smashed up in accidents
