  1. hi from me and my trusty Haynes manual... Some good reading on here and sound advice, especially for the newbies among us...me being a fully fledged newbie!
  2. So put some fuel in him after draining the egg cupful of old stuff out Put some oil in him, still cant see the level so not sure if the inner side of the window is filthy ! but i know he has at least a litre in him Tried starting him, turning but not catching (for want of a better way of say it) Ran to my local garage and picked his brains He gave me a spark plug and told me how to check for spark, didnt work so thought stuff it ill try again. Put lead back on and he fired up,BUT stupid me hadnt turned the fuel tap on and he died .... BUT HES ALIVE!! (ish) So the battery is a tad flat again, so Ive got that back on charge, not paying out for a new one till i know he is worth it So rest of the afternoon I shall be cleaning him and will try again tomorrow with the battery ! just pleased hes alive, and hopefully healthy then we can start getting him looking lush
  3. cheers, going to have a play around with him tomorrow

  7. hi hi Be thankful you're not in the UK...the rain never stops lol. well not for long
  8. thanks all Dirty that would be great if ye don't mind, all i got with the bike was the V5 and a key...and Im sure a snigger but that will be back on him when I take it back running lol EDIT~ Hes a '92, Im guessing the '97 will be a lot different ? Have taken off the battery last night, charged it and put it back on, I have power ! woot 1 problem done lol Fitted a new brake lever as the other one was snapped off..... Took the crappy mirror off and binned it ... Need to order some nice ones I have looked at the oil view hole and don't see any oil there, probably not a good sign.... Theres hardly any IF any fuel in the tank so I need to drain that ? and put fresh in... Im a complete div to be doing this probably but Ill have a go, I can always sling it on Ebay if I lose the plot
  9. This is Burt http://www.flickr.com/photos/77448159@N06/, hes my first bike He's a tad poorly and have every intention of trying to get him better, hmmm lol Have a Haynes manual, thought it was English version but looks double dutch to me So this is how he looks today, and hopefully he will look better soon......and actually run
  10. Thanks guys... the bloke I got it from has just said today that it is probably the carbs, so I think I will start there....or should I say attempt to start there He has arrived in the back yard, no life in him whatsoever, so Im going to get the battery off, that has to be an easy job lol and get it on charge or new one put on, Think Ill find another spot on the forum and get some pics up and a progress report, that should make for some hilarious reading to the knowledgeable ones out there
  11. Just thought I'd say Hi from a lovely sunny Coventry I am new to biking having just done my CBT and finished it yesterday. Doing DAS so next step in a couple of weeks is on a 600 and around the Mod 1 pad. Should be fun Theory test on 13th march, have checked its not a Friday ! So yesterday I dragged the other half round a couple of bike shops to his dismay, and spotted a poor little Yamaha SR125 all dusty and sulking. Apparently it had been ridden into the shop, not literally, and the guy had just put it in the back and left it...6 months ago. Told me I could have it for £120 delivered, as he can't be bothered to mess with it. Doesn't run now, but it did when he got it ..... hmmm lol That didn't put me off, I mean come on a Haynes manual and a hammer, what can I do wrong ? haha...BTW Im not allowed hammers, think its something to do with whacking stuff if they don't work... So anyways, my new poorly boy ... is arriving on Thursday. And let the project begin... So if anyone feels the need to throw in any help and advice, I will be happy to hear..unless you say throw him in the skip !!
