  1. i'm always like a cat on a hot tin roof when projects get to this stage, cant wait see it finished looking fantastic pat! its great to see a bike looking better than new
  2. check your cables are still moving fella, and that your battery is fully charged. flat battery or siezed cables make it sound funny. oh and hi!
  3. thats the odd thing nev,the bike was pretty much as it left me. apart from the panels its all origional. couldn't have been that bad for it to come back out of the scrapyard. i'm going to speak to dvla again now i've got the reg number and see if they'll let me know any more about it. i cant access the vehicle condition alert register by myself, more bureaucracy lol might speak to vosa as well,it'll be them that inspects it....its a right royal pain in the A~@E
  4. few and far between but i'm looking lol my mates got a dtr on an E plate as a field bike.... i can feel a swap coming on... i'll keep you posted...
  5. is it ever. while dvla tell me they have no record and can't trace it,its also got a dvla scrapped marker on it and its on the condition alert register.... its the bureaucracy of it all thats getting to me. they have all the answers but wont tell me diddly squat. the frame may still be unusable. untill i know tho its all on hold, and i'm on the look out for another frame lol
  6. just had yodi@blueyonder check it out.... it WAS h957 flt BUT its an insurance write off AND recorded scrapped in 2005.... q plate is the only way now unfortunately... feck...
  7. what a transformation so far! all the blood, sweat and tears is gonna be worth it! cracking work fella
  8. well after a long period of neglect, its time to think about dusting my tools off again (fnar fnar) dvla have said they have no record of this bikes frame and engine number on record? they also want to Q plate my toy gonna contact yammy direct and see if they can identify/date it and go for an age related plate so anyways, the wr rear swinger is half polished and the front end off a yz 125 4ss turned up from two wheel mad also a pair of yz 250 wheels turned up on evil-bay,jus down the road from me for a paltry £75.... then found a yz 250 rear shock for £7.99... happy days indeed couldn't resist a trial piece together, just to size up lol as it stands it has 400mm clearance under it and i cant touch the ground by 2 inches (i'm 6'2") i also discovered that my bargain rear shock is off a kx bugger!!!! so gotta find another one oh well. also found the rest of my plastics in endurance blue, many thanks to the lads @miles kingsport for sourcing them for me hopefully once january is out of the way i can start piecing her back together in time for late spring/early summer.......
  9. dt tanks are all the same untill the facelift,up to 2002 will fit the 89 model plenty pop up on Evil-bay....happy days!
  10. will do OG,and many thanks! don't want to have to ditch it at this stage.....
  11. loving the finished result wiemmie! my mates still got his old dtlc in the garage an its a crying shame. classic's are meant to be ridden....top notch stuff!
  12. got another nice letter today from the twat brigade (DVLA) they are now stating that my bike does'nt exist on there records. apparantly my only option now, according to them,is single vehicle type approval which it cant pass (2 smoke) and a Q plate. all this despite the vosa guy telling me the frame has a number plate attatched to it? does anyone on here have any ideas on how to go about recovering my registration? oddly enough i came across another dtr on e-bay with a G plate ending in RT which i also cannot hpi because DVLA have no details of it on there records? anyone else come across this? any help muchly appreciated
  13. right then.... took the frame an crankcase to the vosa inspection site in ipswich at the dvla's request on thursday......AND..... the outcome is.... its got the wrong frickin number plate on it bein as i resprayed it all those years ago,it always has had? at the mo its G61 WRT. they're now trying to tell me it should be f reg but wont give me the regisration? plus the frame number was in a production run that started in feb 1990? i'm now proper confused thanks to the dvla..... anyone know how i can hpi my bike using just the frame number?
  14. cheers andy! funny you should mention 2wheelmad as thats where my swing arm and linkage came from! ( swingarm was really good nick, linkage was bent ) also saw the shock which is massively expensive luckily a shock and linkage from a 89-90-91 will fit ( same part numbers ) the oil feed tube has already been swapped to the adapted manifold when the conversion was done. i'm gonna go with the autolube rather than premix as i've never had a problem with it. might rebuild the oil pump 1st tho....but 1st i may have a major problem.... applied to dvla for the log book a long while back. then got a letter asking me to tell them where i got it from, and more importantly who. sent the info back and waited. got a letter this week asking for photo's of the frame and engine numbers and also RUBBINGS of them both.... anyone know why the hell they want this? my 1st thoughts are its been cloned/scrapped/stolen,although before i got it i HPI'd it. nothing to report and it was taxed till end of last year. problem being, its been a field bike and wreck for at least 2 years in the hands of the last owner. i know the numbers are genuine, heat cleaned the frame back to bare metal, all good. and i thought if a bike was stolen then dvla jus sent plod round? anyone got any ideas?
  15. no worries! hope it solves your idle problem
  16. yep defo a little rubber o ring in there.fella.jus a mattter of finding it now tho
  17. also the first bit of what i spent my engine re-build on turned up along with the linkage. all made of soon to be shiny shiny aluminium and off of a WR 200.... its about an inch longer in length,a good inch an a bit narrower on the wheel spindle end. its almost perfect width on the frame end (2-4 mm in it). the linkage is a totally different set up and won't fit the dt shock... now looking for a WR 200 shock and waitin for the front end to turn up all in all its way lighter and will be far more adjustable for off road stuff
  18. well the dirt won't stick thanks to Nev's ACF-50 tip (many thanks) awesome stuff! 85-90 should be easily do-able as well as the normal stuff (powervalve kit, full dep system) a couple of other mods help.... cut the top off the airbox,yz style... 28mm carb with no carb warmer pipes, jetted to suit.... and some porting.... although i had it done to my 4fu head (done by stan seize 'ems) as previously mentioned some gimp had it sleeved thus its gotta be done again as the ports in the sleeve don't match the ports in the head it wont be going to stan this time heard mick abbey is good, anyone on here used him? should be an easy 90 mph depending on the gearing and maybe a 32 mm tmx for a motox style kick
  19. looking forward to following this one,she needs a lot of care, right in at the deep end with this looks like you've got as much of a wiring loom as my dt has....
  20. WOW!!! what a transformation! very nicely done. must leave a massive grin on your face when you see it now....
  21. is it a haynes manual your using nev? if it is.look in the previous chapter (frame and forks) at photo 13.7 it looks like that wire guide is to stop the hose from going into the shock? or am i being daft?
  22. do you know what? i've seen that stuff about but never knew what it was? just read the write-up,sounds just the job! many thanks for the suggestion,it'll need all the protection it can get when i use it off road
  23. well i've been to have a look at the frame, and have a size up with seat-tank-panels-rear mudguard before final tweaks although the welds are too good? yamahaha used a special chicken poop splatter welder didn't they? also had a trial piece together of the engine now its off to the engineering shop with the head ( 4FU but some c@*t had it sleeved ) rebore time i feel. plus the crank has to be checked due to its abuse..... my plan was to get all the bearings+gaskets+seals BUT....... i kinda spent the money on some other bits,i'll post some photo's when they arrive....
  24. thanks for the positive comments, helps on the days when i can't be jaffed nev's wiring diagram is awesome,i can read that well ( black lines on white paper i can't ) the dog won't be so happy when i use the shiny shiny dt to walk her @ 85 mph
  25. well out of the 3 i know which one i'd choose £250? thats cheap all day long.... easy get your money back in bits best of luck with it fella, keep us posted
