Here we go- Were There,s muck there,s Brass and tight as a Duck,s Ass list goes on, yeh get your drift Cynic and the 2 new crank bearing have arrived bit of a bitch of a job to get gearbox side bearing off ,very tight and not 100% what to do refitting as Clymer /haynes reccommends dealer for this one ? prob with getting bearing onto shaft and into casing bit ?freeze crank bearing on, then heat casing ! well no rush as you said. Also tonight was going to have a go at bent fins should I heat up or not ? done a bit of a goggle found a bit of help but ??????? not too sure ?
  3. yeh I think youve made a real good job of that,and saved yourself a few quid carnt be bad,have same thought if I ever get DT finished for camping gear etc... will keep eye out for XS lock, as you say genuine dt bloody dear all the best Phil
  4. Hi thanks for your reply ,yes put fresh fuel in and it starts when I put a drop of fuel down plug hole or into carb so dont think it is a ignition prob,only other thing I did was top up oil ,poss too much so drained a bit off just in case this was the prob ?

Hi Nev hope the project goes well,wish I had got mine powder coated looks great, I keep on chipping paint off but only cost £20 in paint, beggars cant be choosers I suppose I bet getting spring off was a bit scary, been there, why not stick a big jubilee clip/strangle band round for a bit more peace off mind when you stick it back. all the best Phil

Hi guys hope you can point me in right direction, tried to start my wacker tonight and nothing ! been stood in garage for a couple of years checked oil, new petrol, will start when squirt fuel down plug, into carb so suspect blocked jet ? by the way checked fuel cock and fuel there removed bowl as well ,cannot go further at mo don't have socket to get carb off. Any advise appreciated Phil

  9. Cynic you know what they say about Yorkshire men ,will check out TY Trials,by the way saved a fiver+ by doing a search for the bearing puller and then got cash back from quidco site, and yes I buy all my cloths from charity shops

Thanks lads for advise/tips will def take note, the crapy case with the engine number I want to keep ,the bearing feels rough so was going to swap these ,do you reckon and to save cash could use bearing fom other case ? Hi Cynic ment getting bearings out of casting as you mentioned oven we are on the same wavelength,going to to take bits to work tonight give a good clean in parts washer, and will have a good look for wear etc..got new gasket set + seals ready need some gasket glue for casings though.and rush well got too many projects on the go to rush + cash issues ! I must say that buying that flywhel puller was worth the money, had it off in 10 mins yesterday morning.

Will post a pic later isnt there always a bloody screw thats a bitch ! could be last one ,spoted it earlier though so !!!someone not a Jap, had snapped a impact driver head into head of phillips screw the one in the corner behind generator flywheel, sorry about this to you well endowed people is this the corect term but the chisel had to come out as absence of dremal ,no probs and no damage.

Well that buggers that then,even big old welder(Triangle They built subs with them in WW2 ) at work is AC,,and I was hoping to do it at home on my little 140amp clark so that head is poss out as to get it repaired ££££££ looks like I might be getting back in the welding game soon lets hope "Camm" will pay for some tickets for me asme 19 ! jammy bugger who paid for that is 12mths ? when I was a lad it was asme 9, still have my Millwalky hat you know bit weather beaten now though ,poss would catch summat like poor old Fred Dibbner what about the bent fins anyone had ago how hard to snap ? pre heat ?
  16. You would have thought that there would be some way of upgrading this prob with new lamps/relay etc. once up to 12v more options scrap parts ? going to keep my ear to the ground/nose in the scrap pile

Thanks Paul yeh there was a extra red on that CDI ,just read NEOs post,s on 12v conversion looks good a credit to him for this, wish I had not bought new battery & rectifier the other week, cause when do get bike running will be riding in dark to work and back on unlit roads, and this def looks the biz have you guys switched over ?

Hi Blackhat Dont know about "brave" Barmy might be muted by others ,still love these little bike though. are they going? up to Kirby Lonsdale? ,unfotunatly KH has not run since 1992 Thanks anyway do hope to have DT going soon though, so may be next time ,only prob I have only get 1 weekend of work a month. Hi guys ,not doing this strip for science,just thought I could try and use best bits to make 1 good one,anyway brought a puller home from work to get flywheel off and not a bloody chance,so have caved in and ordered "Proper Job" tool,shame as cash spent on this could have gone towards bearings. Am I showing my true yorkshire self here ?
