  1. Hi all, iv got a 2001 R1 with a harris high rise race can fitted on it, but it still has the standard headers with the exup valve . I have seen some micron full race headers and link pipe for sale that i would like to buy, but im not sure my can would fit as it has a long link pipe on it (a kind of `S` bend that harris do to make it a high rise) I was thinking of taking the exup valve out to save me buying race headers, would that make any differance? Has aynone taken the exup valve out of the bike, if so what differance did it make? My bike has been dyno jetted and has a K&N filter fitted, on a dyno run it made 151 bhp on the crank and 138 on the back wheel, would any of the above make any differance to the bhp or the way it runs? Any input would be very useful to me, thanks, Tony
  2. Hi Spondon, I'v got a 2001 R1. got standard leads and plugs on it ( not expensive ones) It has been dyno jetted, has a K&N filter and a harris high rise race can on it. On a dyno run it made 151 bhp on the crank, 143 on the gear box and 138 on the back wheel, it also made 184 mph. How does that compare with yours? if yours is better then stick with it the way it is , if not try doing what my bike has had done. Cant tell you what my bike was like before the work was done as i bought it with all the bits done, but i am thinking of getting full race headers fitted or maybe taking the exup valve out to see if it makes any differance on my bike, if it does i'll let you know. Tony
  3. A large hammer and chisel might work just as well.
  4. Hi Joe, It does sound like its carb iceing to me, i had it last year on my R1. I dont think theres a lot you can do about it as it the air in the carbs thats freezing. Was it ok when the weather got better? Tony

    exhaust

Hi all, Iv got an R1 2001 with a harris high rise race can on it, but still got the normal headers with the exup valve. I have seen a set of micron full race headers and link pipe for sale, but im not sure if my harris can would fit as it has a long link pipe on it. It has been dyno jetted and has a K&N fillter fitted, i was thinking of taking the exup valve out to see if it makes any differents, to save me getting race headers. On the dyno it made 151 bhp on the crank and 138 on the back wheel. Has anyone taken the exup valve out , if so how much (if any) differance did it make. Your input would be very useful to me, ta, Tonyj

    tyres

I have a 2001 R1. I have got dunlops on it at the moment, 208 gp on the front and a 209 qualifier on the back. I am thinking of changing them to either metzeler racetec, rennsport or bridgestone BT002. I want to do a couple of track days next year, but mostly i'll use them for fairly fast road use. If you have used any of these tyres or have them on your bike i would be pleased to have your opinion, thanks.
