  1. Hi all, Ive got a 98 thundercat andc to be honest the paint isnt all that good, so with yet another winter aproching fast i was hoping to touch up the paint a bit but i dont know where to get the paint from? Im after the silver for the swing arm and engine covers and also the black for the tank. Any ideas???? Cheers Joe
  2. yeh mine does this too, has for the last 10 thou miles... like you it doesnt affect performance at all.
  3. nick-m well i think it has worked prob about 80% im well chuffed, cheers i owe you. funny to think that just by changing fuel its had such a big inpact
  4. nice one ill give it a try!!!!!!
  5. well ive added some wynns dry fuel stuff and i think this has made a little inprovment but its far from perfect. my next idea is to cover part of the radiator with somthing like tin foil so it stays at at a higher temp as currenly the needle isnt moving whilst on the move on the motorway, but i know its working as when stood at idle for a while it will raise up. onother idea is to blank off the holes where the exhaust headers are under the radiator to try keeep some heat from escaping and thus keeping the front of the bike that little bit warmer. i know these are all little things but as 99% of my daily ride is on the m.way i dont run the risk of over heating and im hoping that making the kitty run a bit warmer i can sort of stop the carb icing thing going on as much. what do you all think???
  6. well i dont realy to meets but give me a buzz if you fancy a ride out, im from leeds/bradford right next to motorway so easy to go anywhere,
  7. unfortunatly up north the weather has been crap for the last month or so so i couldnt tell you that, but its is fine when i start her up from cold sat in the garage, it justhappends on the motorway
  8. hey all I think ive just had my first carb iceing incident.... ive just been on the motorway and i regularly go at about 80-100mph an i have never had any probs in the 2 yrs ive had the cat and that is in all wethers. i was going at about 95-100 for about 60miles when i has to slow down for trafic so cruising at 80 for about 10 miles when i noticed a drop in power so i rolled on the gas a little and it reluctently gain speed a little but was a little jumpy. when i was free again i went back to 90 ish and it was a lot better but not 100%. i pulled in the the services and let her idle for a good 10 mins till the temp went up to about 90, then continued home and this seemed to be great till about 5 miles from home when i felt that jumpy feeling again. pls tell me this is carb iceing as im alittle unsure??? also is there anything i can do to help stop it? cheers all joe

    Help

the manual says to use 10w-40 oil this covers all riding condition apart from racing, the alternative is 15w-40 but only in warner climates (uk summer) i use a semi sythetic all year round and change it every 6 months and my thundercat is purring like a kitten. and that is with covering aprox 10,000miles a year. im not too sure if you can mix full and semi oil but ill look into it.
  10. well im in leeds at the momwnt so anyone wanna ride out just give me a bell
  11. ive currently got a thundercat and its still my first bike after ridding 3 yrs its never let me down, servicing it it piss easy and a diy job, the only thing that is causing expence is tyres as i use the cat as a daily transport, fantastic bike if you can get 1 in good condition, as some have been neglactied as i found out when looking origionaly. im fairly stocky myself and have no probs with the bike at all, the slightly bulbous fairing is great at keeping the wind and to a point the rain off you as your going along. if it was just my decision then id say go for it!
  12. its cable, just had a look on ebay and it possible that the 750 might fit but im not sure.
  13. hi i own a 98 yzf600r thundercat and i was hoping someone could help me locate an adjustable clutch lever as my fingers arnt long enough to handle lots of clutch work like city ridding. my brake is adjustable and is fantastic but i carnt seem to find anywhere that has a clutch lever. pls help ta J
