  1. To be honest, even a "buy one, get one free" offer wouldn't be tempting at that price.
  2. I'm looking to sell the DT fairly soon, and thought the next project could be a XT225. Must admit I don't know too much about the XT225's as yet - is there anyone on here who knows much about them, what to look for / avoid etc? cheers Lee
  3. I've got the relay, now just need to get some NOS or pattern indicators. I had been testing the wiring with a multimeter before sourcing the indicators. I wasn't getting a reading, but that turned out to be dirty contacts in the switch. Quick clean and a spray of contact cleaner and now all ok. Lee
  4. Hi Finally managed to sort the electrics out on this bike, and am now ready to get some indictors. Anyone know what indicators belong on this model i.e. chrome? black? Also do the front indicators mount on the bars? Many thanks for any advice. Lee
  5. Yep - it runs on red wine in the tank, and garlic oil in the gearbox.
  6. Thought I'd share a pic of my project. It isn't concours, but I like it. And it will be up for sale soon... before: and after:
  7. Judging by your description of the problem, I'd say possible causes would be the engine, or err..the exhaust?
  8. Ok then, electrics again! I'm rebuilding/refreshing an 81 DT175MX. The clocks that came with it are chrome, and from the earlier model. When I turn the lights on, the headlight works fine, but the instrument lights don't. When I turn the lights off, the instrument lights come on. So either A) there is some wiring that is arse about face, else the earlier clocks are not compatible. Any bright ideas anyone? Cheers Lee
  9. I think I've got some electrical issues to sort on the DT175MX I'm rebuilding. I haven't got the engine fully built yet, so can't test the headlights, but at present, when the light switch is in the off position, and the key in the second position, the instrument lights are on. And when I turn the switch on, the lights go out!
  10. Hi Does anyone know if there is a website somewhere that lists the correct paint code for the DT? I need to get a tank sprayed up in the colours in the pic, but the tank I have has already been resprayed a different colour, so I don't have a sample to match to. Also, the black on the side panels - is it a satin or gloss black? Cheers Lee
  11. This is the model I have URL=http://img267.imageshack.us/i/dt1751500.jpg/]
  12. If it's been stood for years, the left hand crank seal could probably do with replacing.
  13. Here is my bike - As I said, the manual comes in handy!
  14. I would - I'm restoring a DT175 and it's a lot easier with a manual.
  15. I've never heard of a spark inside the cap before - you sure about that? Lee
  16. Hi Have you got the Haynes manual? It should show the cable routing fairly clearly. Lee
  17. Cheers - looks like the oem part no is 2K523191M000, and shows as obsolete. Will carry on looking for an aftermarket item that fits. Lee
  18. Anyone in the UK got a lead on where to get hold of fork gaiters? Pattern would be fine. I measured the ones on the bike (no idea if they are original or pattern) and they are 270 x 30 x 45. Can't see this size on e-bay. Cheers Lee
  19. Just rebuilding a 81 DT175MX, and will be popping in some fresh pistons and rings. I see there are plenty of pattern piston kits on ebay, but does anyone know if there is more than one pattern piston brand? If so, any brands to go for, or avoid? I have only ever used pattern piston years ago when I raced proddy RD400's, and they rattled so much I reverted to OEM straight away. Cheers Lee
  20. Hi Just stripping down a 1981 DT175 I've just picked up. It would appear at some time in it's life someone decided to improvise somewhat (bodge), and drilled a new hole through the frame to mount the suspension in a different place - (to the left of the flange in the pic). I assume this was to give more rear ride height? Either that, or the shock that is fitted is shorter than standard. So 2 things - anyone able to confirm the length of the standard shock, and secondly, is this a common alteration? Lee Uploaded with ImageShack.us
  21. Sorry, yes - 2K4 (typo!). I'll have a look at the frame number tonight, as I get the feeling this could be a bit of a mix and match bike! I do have the oil tank on the right hand side with the battery below and the airbox cover on the left. Cheers
  22. Hi guys Can anyone shed some light on model information please? I've just bought a DT175 mx - it has frame and engine prefix 2KR. I can't remember from my youth the differences between the various models. This bike has the silver box section swinging arm. Did that come before or after the model with the black tubular swinging arm? Cheers Lee
