  1. They might just need tuning in by using the screw behind each horn. Is there a good earth? ATB J
  2. Is it twin horns on your bike? May be worth checking the fuse first. ATB J

    Two RDs

Believe it or not - WE ARE MATES ! I sold Kev his latest baby, an RD350LC pre power valve. Ive known him personally for a few years and would trust him with my life. Its just that we have this mischievous, fun sense of humour between us. Nobody calls Kev. Thats MY job., ATB J
  5. Perhaps its got a flat battery! For piece of mind and the small outlay I wouldn't risk it. I would buy another good quality battery. ATB J
  6. REDEX - I remember using it when petrol was a lot cheaper and the oil dollar didn't effect the political issues quite so much in the world economic and military sense. As an afterthought I doubt if it was p.c. ATB J

No. I think the owner smears custard over it when he parks up. Duh! Smart like a donkey and hung like Einstein. ATB J

    gear change.

Brabbin & Rudd. Its near the big gas ommeter. If your having such trouble mastering your gear box why not get a rev & go moped? It would look like a two wheeled hemaroid. ATB J

    carb icing

I had this on an early XV535 before they fitted carb heaters. The bike became sluggish as though it was running on one cylinder. It was a slightly cold and damp day. ATB J

    gear change.

Christ ! How can we expect UP-YOURS to be able to work the intricacy of a 5 speed gear box when he cant work the twin buttons of a computer mouse (double post). As for taking on the female bikers. The mans not a complete idiot - ( hes had his appendix out). ATB J

    Bike Modifying

Good advice from CYNIC and others above. Dont go making your bike look like a 2 wheel M & P catalogue. Leave that to the Suzuki Bandit owners. Keep some savings to one side for a rainy day. Im sure one of those will be along far quicker than you anticipated. ATB J
  14. The driving test is very basic. As far as the car test is concerned it just means that you are capable of driving solo. ATB J
  15. Were as you would/do. You have been known to be more than generous in this department. (He started it miss!) ATB J
  16. Oh so VERY true. I once did an advanced driving course in the car and boy, was THAT an eye opener. I consider myself to be an above average ability driver (dont we all ) with 40 years of high mileage experience and no accidents but the instructor soon put me in my place. Contrary to popular belief they dont have you driving along at a snails pace doing hand signals at every junction. You are told to make the most use of the available road, yes, that includes the other side IF ITS SAFE. They taught me to observe and prepare for dangers that I previously wouldn't have been aware of. I recommend anyone to attend one of these courses it really is a benefit to your driving/riding and therefore your safety and that of others. ATB J
  17. True. But roads, unlike race tracks roads are rarely perfect. There usually poor! Tyres, unless new and 'run in' aren't at their best. I have, on several occasions got my front tyre to break traction and squeel on DRY roads. ATB Ian
  18. Thank you for your sensible reply. I too increase the braking distance - 'ONLY A FOOL BREAKS THE TWO SECOND RULE' but in an emergency situation I apply both brakes equally. To slam on with just the front brake is asking for gravel rash (and yes, that is a rash statement. ) ATB J
  19. Perhaps I should explain better for the hard of thinking. If you brake really hard in the wet with just your front brake only you could put too much work onto the front tyre contact patch area and skid. If you spread the brake load between both brakes your taking work off the front and although the rear goes light and may skid your more chance to get away with a rear wheel skid than a front. Well thats my opinion but I am prepared to listen. ATB J

  21. You have more chance of controlling a rear wheel skid than a front. ATB J

Umbrella ? Air conditioning Why not drive your car even though you hate it? And not a swear word or jibe in sight. ATB J
  24. Personally I wouldn't put sandpaper anywhere near my chrome. I would use very fine wire wool (000) and/or Solvol Autosol as anything else would be too abrasive. ATB J
