I reckon that Alex was trying to show us the highlights of living in Brighton He couild have just posted a link though, forcing us to see that stuff was just not on Regards Robbie
  2. Hey guys Started on the de-restriction today and came across some problems: mainly that the type of restriction was different. On the R6 there are 2 types of restriction. 1 - Some have what is discussed earlier on in this thread 2 - Some have plates put on the throttle lever next to the carbs that stop it moving fully and also a plate at the back of the carbs to slow down air. The carbs have to be taken off completely and rebalanced etc. for this to be completely removed. Just for future reference. Regards Robbie

    a strange question

Im 18. Sorry I didn't state my age earlier but I didn't think peoiple would freely give info on derestrictiing my R6 if they thought I was this young. Regards Robbie
  4. Its really really comfy and really light in comparison to my other helmet. Its also a lot more aerodynamic so doesn't press into your face at 70, like my other helmet did. Look on the internet for one as you can save £50, I got mine from Heine Gerike in their January sale so saved them same amount. My visor cost another £50 on top though as it iridium. Good luck on the search. Regards Robbie
  5. Just bought an AGV stealth with an iridium visor. has the same looks as orange visors but legal all the time. Cheers for the help guys. Robbie

    my turn!

wow man that is embarassing but not quite as much as your car! I have been lucky not to crash yet, but have been very close a few times, saying that I've only been riding 2 1/2 years. Just a matter of time though. Hope everyones recoveries are going well. Regards Robbie
  7. Cheers dude. Sorry to hear of your spill on the other thread. Take care Robbie
  8. Hey guys, need a new lid as mine is getting on for 3 years now. Been looking at the AGV's but none of them seem to come with clear visors - which is a must as I ride at all times of the year, at all times of the day and in all conditions - can anyone tell me if they do and if not recommend a different manufacturer, that makes helemts that look as good as the AGV's. Regards Robbie
  9. Will anyone give me a bump start?...
  10. Sorry to hear about the spill mate. Just to let you know that even badly damaged fairings can be rapaired instead of replaced. Ive refurbished a couple and the cracks we welded up are now stronger than the original plastic of the fairing. Unfortunately don't know of anyone in the Birmingham area, but try the yellow pages. Regards Robbie
  11. Hi dan, Ive just got a R6 and I have bridgestones front and rear. They seem to offer good grip and should last for 8k but as they are the only tyres I've used I dont know how well they feedback in comparison to others. Regards Robbie
  12. Hey guys will hopefully be taking these out on friday but just so I dont waste mine or my mates time is this definately where the restriction is? Is there any chance that yamaha have put in a new modified diaphragm or washer on the diaphragm into the carb stopping the air pin coming out all the way? Sorry to ask again but just making sure. Regards Robbie
  13. Hi guys, Ive already written a few posts but may aswell introduce myself. I'm going to uni at the moment studying Media Technology, which I'm doing because of my love of music. Got into biking after I managed to blag a derestricted ped. It cornered quite well and was good for 70 so I was happy. Then decided to pass my test so borrowed by bosses 125 which was a cheap chinese copy of the honda cb125. Now on my first proper bike (YZF-R6) which some would say is far too powerful for someone of my riding experience. Its great fun though and I can't wait till friday when it gets derestricted. Regards Robbie
  14. Hi All, Was riding along the motorway the other night in heavy traffic. As I was in a rush I was constantly in the outside lane doing an average speed of 85mph, I found this quite difficult as I feel that my headlights aren't as bright as I would like them. SO Can you fit xenon headlight bulbs to a 2000 YZF-R6, and if so will I need to modify the electrics to cope with any changes in current (if there are any). Cheers Robbie

    Thinking of an r6

Hi all, I've just bought a 2000 R6 in mint condition. Completely agree with the slow speed steering it can be a little hairy at times when you try and get into a small gap on a small roundabout but I'm getting used to it. One thing I would say is look at the price and the mileage. For a 2000 on W plate list price is £3400, but if you get Yamaha to service it then you should check which service is due next. The key service times are 14k and 24k. These are the most expensive as I've been told they strip the engine and replace the most important inards. You can definately feel the difference a passenger makes, when my brother is on the back he slides back and forwards so when you come to brake hard you and the family jewels tend to be squashed against the fuel tank . Absolutely great machine though. Regards Robbie
  16. Sorry to be a bit stupid but what part of the air intake system or carburetors are these cos I can't find this term or work out an equivalent that could be used in the old faithfull - Haynes manual. Cheers Robbie
  17. Hi guys, I know absolutely nothing about the quality of the wheels that go on your machine , but you mentioned a damaged wheel. If the damage is only superficial (curbed) then this can quite easily be refurbished by a specialist company. I work for such a company and have had experience of refurbing motorcycle wheels, but I dont know of any companies other than in the Southampton and SW london area. Just a thought anyway. I would only advise repairing a wheel if there is light curbing on it though, as you cannot see if the wheels are cracked or have metal fatigue. Regards Robbie
  18. Hi guys I'm new to this forum as I am new to Yamaha's. Got a query about getting rid of a dam restriction kit from my YZF-R6. Bought it the other week in mint condition but with one minor hitch - a 33bhp restrictor as the previous owner was under 21 years old (lucky git) . Unfortunately I feel its sacralige to have this bike like this, so it must go. Anyone got any ideas on what is in the restriction kit and how to get rid of it. Cheers Robbie
