    Help!!

    Right mate you have two options. Get a stud remover (if there is enough of the stud to grip). The second is drill the stud out and then get a tap and die set to re-thread the manifold. Regards

  3. Ive chosen the exhaust that Im gonna put onto my R6 - the blue flame evo 3 titanium. Now im wondering how essential it is to replace the gaskets I will be taking out of the old exhaust and also the O rings on the cooling system (i need to remove the radiator) when I fit it. I have a feeling I will replace them all anyway but if Im running tight for time will it be the end of the world? Cheers

  5. Thats harsh man. Hope your ok. Try going to a local body shop and ask them how much it would be to repair them. Where I work we charge around about £50 per panel depending on damage and colouring etc. Regards
  6. A word of advice to everyone on the forum. NEVER EVER USE T CUT. It contains a chemical called ammonium which is alkaline and therefore corrodes the paint work on whatever you put it on. If you need to polish your bike use Farhekler G3 cutting compound and then a good quality wax. Just to let you know every polish and cutting compund is ever so slightly abrasive the equivalent of between 3000 and 10000 grit sand paper. So they actually take the laquer away and if you polish your bike each weekend you will soon get through to the paint. Regards

  8. Had a massive side ways moment to day on the motorway @ around about 80mph. I was late for work so was undertaking a middle lane crawler ( I know I shouldnt but I was in a hurry). Anyway accelerating in 6th gear, completely upright, the back end just stepped out by a good couple of feet. Boy did it shit me up. Take care everyone the bad weather is meant to last for another 7 days in the UK Regards

    Dark Visors?

    I thought that they were legal (due to a loop hole in the law) but only during the day. After dusk they become illegal as light levels fall. Basically the police cant stop you from wearing shades which are in effect the same thing, so they cannot stop you wearing dark visors in situations where you need them. Regards
  10. Ah the you have found the problem with the R6. Dont worry mate it will take a bit of time to get completely used to this. I still sometimes find my self close to over balancing on tight turn in's and on small min roundabouts.
  11. Yamaha usually use as coolant comprising of a 50/50 synthetic anti freeze-water mix. Cost £4 for a 2 litre bottle straight from the dealer. As far as filling up the reservoir take the cap off of the top of it (you may have to take whatever fairing is in the way off) and fill it to the max line. Go out for a short blast allowing the engine to reach full operating temp and then re-fill it (after the engine has cooled). Hope this helps. Your manual should have exactly what you need to do in it. Regards

    WOW i thought I went over board with the R6 as my first big bike. As far as braking goes you will stop better if you go through the gears as you apply the brakes. You also have less risk of locking the rear wheel than when you pull the clutch as you will have to drop mutiple gears at once with the latter technique. Just find what works best for you though.   19. Hell yeah. You should find everything becomes tighter and easier to use allowing the power to be used to greater effect.
  20. Just got back from work. On a dual carriageway slip road was overtaking a couple of cars before it ended and realised I was doing around about 65mph in first gear at only about 12k it used to only do that at 14 so that gives you a clue as to how much it can effect the running of the engine. As far as performance goes it is a lot easier to get the power out now as clutch and gears are a lot smoother to use and the throttle is a little more responsive. Regards

  22. My 2000 R6 had its 12000 mile service today. Must be the same service but ever so slightly different intervals. It cost me £257, £7 more than normal because I use a higher grade of oil than is standard. They basically replace all consumables in the engine check pretty much everything and balance anything that can be balanced. I can scan my check sheet in if you wanna see exactly what they did to mine. Regards PS to the forum
  23. on the R6's this is some sort of diagnostic warning device maybe to to with oil pressure or something. Have a look in the manual. Regards
  24. Just got me bike back from its service. Basically everything was slightly out of balance on my bike like carbs etc so this lead to the engine not being as effecient as it could be allowing unburnt fuel into the exhaust. Really easy for a mechanic to find esp. of its in for a major service soon. Regards
