  1. It sounds like a faulty immobiliser. I've never known a key to lose coding before.
  2. FZ monoshock or 99-04 R6 should fit without any major issues.
  3. Wheels from 1998-2004 will fit any R6 from those years. In 2005, the front wheel spindle diameter and rim width changed (due to changing from a 60 to a 70 profile tyre - the change is only a couple of mm), along with the forks.. Also, the rear wheel changed spindle diameter. A further change was made for the 2008 bike. So far, there are three different 'sets' - 1998-2004, 2005-2007 and 2008-present.
  4. Interesting. But surely you would need to find a 600cc 2 stroke engine rather than a 4 stroke single, otherwise it just ain't a TZR. Have you considered an RD500 engine?
  5. before you go getting too carried away, check the battery is fully charged
  6. Thundercats when restricted correctly should have no problems. It sounds like you have an underlying problem somewhere. I would recommend putting everything back to stock while it is restricted as any 'performance' aftermarket goodies (can, K&N, plugs, etc) will not work well on a restricted engine, purely because they were not designed to be used on 33 BHP. I've restricted at leat 100 cats with no problems at all when stock.
  7. There was a batch of starter motors made for the Viragos that had the wrong shaft bearings. If I remember correctly, they were fitted to 2003/04 bikes. They are microns smaller in diameter, causing the shaft to wobble by the tiniest amount while spinning. While not a major problem, it will eventually wear out the SM.
  8. You should be able to get an excahnge for a recon for around £50
  9. You should be able to pick up a recon unit in exchange for your shot one for around £50.
  10. The only Aces to be restricted to 125 BHP were US models, done by using smaller jets in the carbs as already posted. UK, EU and Jap models were a full 145 BHP. If it does seem low on power, either the EXUP valve needs a service or it has been removed and the carbs not re-jetted for the EXUP-less exhaust.
  11. Reversed motor polarities are out of the question (unless the motor has been taken apart - see below) because your bike's electrical system will be the standard negative earth system, with the motor case being the negative connection (on conventional DC motors, connecting the supply backwards can make the motor run in reverse). So, it is a puzzler and something I have not encountered before I must admit. The only thing I can think of is perhaps the battery has been connected in reverse? One other possibility is that if the starter motor has been taken apart, maybe the windings have been re-connected backwards?
  12. If you can e-mail me a PDF of the sticker design, I have a few mates who do signwriting and vinyl label making, etc. I will ask around for you [email protected]
  13. You could bore it out to a 650. Cheaper than a new engine.
  14. I used to run Michelin RP2s or Pirelli Dragon Corsas on my Cat.
  15. I would probably sell that bike for around the £500 mark if it was in my showroom. Part-ex, I would probably offer around £400.
  16. If you want cheap, try eBay or a breaker's yard. Brand new, they are only about £60 from Yamaha.
  17. One thing I forgot to mention: The FJR is over 80kg lighter than the ST100 and over 90kg lighter than the ST1300, 65kg or thereabouts lighter than the GS and ZZR or GTR.
  18. The odo, trip and clock electronics are exactly the same.
  19. You can change the whole fork set up to a YZF750 set. They fit the yokes like a dream. You will also need the calipers though and YZF750 front wheel. The caliper mountings are different and the discs are different sizes.
  20. Can you not apply to the council for a parking permit?
  21. Yes you can keep the Irish plates as long as they are registered to you and the bikes are registered to you. If they are on the bikes before you ship them over, you can keep them on without having to pay another transfer fee.
  22. None particularly that I am aware of. A full on tourer that is still very sporty when you want it to be. I would recommend one over a Pan, GS or ZZR any day.
  23. The EXUP is in the little box where the downpipes connect to the link pipe. There is no need to touch it if you are adding a slip on end can. Just bear in mind that: a carbed bike will need re-jetting and a FI bike will need the ECU re-mapping with a Power Commander.
