One thing I forgot to mention earlier that maybe quiet important is the guy I bought it off had it running on pod filters on the Y pipe from the carbs. I have put new standard jets in and wondered if this maybe also causing issues if he had jetted the carbs to suit the pod filters? Am I fighting a loosing battle trying to run pod filters on these carbs?
thanks for the advice so far it’s got me closer than I have previously to getting the bike going.
pods on the (Y?, shouldn't that be H?) lineate the air flow for the CV carbs

could also check your grounds as powder coating insulates.
I'd get it back on points initially like Jimm sats and get it going then put the neutronics back in after

All you need is fresh petrol.
Pour it over the fkr, drop a match, walk away and do not look back
40yrs and the hurt is still there
they are simple machine, i assume you have the soho version?
check your timing as you can be out 180'have you touched the engine? did it run before?
carbs are a big issue as there are some tiny drillings in there and they need a proper ultrasonic clean. you can check by spraying easy start to see if you get a sniff from the engine

I always torque my clutch springs, did you measure and check the spring length before assembling the clutch?
I you don't have a torque wrench, invest in one. I cycle as well and had to buy another one 2nm to 12nm or I could crush the carbon frame.
have you adjusted the clutch properly, also could be binding. take off or loosen the clutch cable and with the engine off, engage gear and see if there is resistance when you turn the back wheel.
Its just a process of elimination

What would be ideal for you is a headless bushing adapter. Unfortunately I can't find one big enough!! M14 to M10 seems to the biggest. Although thinking about it 17mm to 19mm is only 2mm difference thick, so its going to be thin! which may be the reason they don't exist.
The guys who could probably answer this in detail would be a custom bike maker, where everything is built practically from scratch!
I'd err on the side of opening the hole even larger, welding in some solid rod and redrilling that and taping a new hole.
you could drill out the threaded part on the fork larger and rethread to take whatever adapter you need. could be a tophat section so there's more clamping action on the spindle to fork leg.

the saturday was pretty grim weather wise late morning but I think we got the best weather earlier in the week though. did 1000 miles in all touring Yorkshire dales and into Lancs for devils bridge.
I'll put the photos on facebook as it won't let me upload any hereDrewps

So now that has set the tone. Who is actually going. I'm assuming Andy is already there.
i'm there tomorrow.
had the tour of Tameside running festival to do and finished that today with the Dr Ron 7 mile road race. 32 miles in all over 4 days -
went out with a mate to Southport carousel
Took it really easy as too warm and the car drivers just CBA driving sensibly. Avoided a few situations if I'd been a bit faster. Lots of harvesters and tractors out too ATM

my tdm850 pulls from 1500 rpm, max torque at 5k and power 6.5.
it'll rev up past the red line at 8k but nothing happens power wise. It also has a 270' crank.

going to get some routes sorted too.
I have a Ride mag with a 170mile loop listed
Got to do fridaythorpe for old times sake and the "getting lost on the way back" jaunt -
Due to lack of movement I'm going to book camping at Squires 2nd August till saturday coming back Sunday.
meeting a mate there and a few others mates coming down thursday (so they say)
Anyone most welcome to join me or take in one of the local B&B's in the area. There is a rock and bike night in the field across the road so it maybe a bit noisy- 1
