  1. Hi all, After trawling everywhere for info and trying to identify an engine i acquired; thought i might ask for some pointers in a few things. I'm haven't been a Two-Stroker since my first bike. A friend had a yamaha engine he wanted to sell so he could fund another build and I snapped at it. He got it from a breakers and was sold as is. So far, he changed the clutch plates, added carb and new air filter, and replaced piston. He gave up on the engine after he couldnt find any manuals on it or identify it as anything other than a yamaha engine (He's not a yamaha rider). Looking at it, it looks like a Yamaha DT175 MX.     I have a 2003 Yamaha XVS125 and I have got it up and running but everytime I go to click it into 1st gear it will just stall. I have tried bypassing clutch switch and the side stand switch and I have also stripped down and cleaned the clutch plates and put it back together with fresh oil and still having the same problem. Any suggestions?

    I was riding her pretty hard the last time i was on it. going 80-100mph for about 10 miles.. all of a sudden i lost throttle power., the bike didnt die just went down to an idle and the throttle did nothing.. shut it off after 10 mins it started up and i made it home one mile.. let it sit for a week found out the battery was shot. replaced it and now it will start no problem but only runs for about 2-5 seconds or untill you touch the throttle. i feel like its getting fuel it more so seems like as soon as its started the power is drainded and cannot kept running. iv read its maybe the stator just searching for other opinions.

    Hi there I've just joined the forum hoping for some advice on this problem. I'm not a mechanic but always happy to read manuals, ask advice and try things and am handy enough with tools. The ybr isn't my main bike, I had been using it from time to time and as a backup but couple years ago it stopped starting, now I'm trying to get it back to life .. as an economical alternative to big bike and cause I like it. This is a YBR 2007ED fuel injected bike. So after sitting for a couple of years, the problem had been fuel pump which wasn't working ..     Hi All . I Have a thunderace sitting In my shed that I brought a number of tears back , the exhaust system had been replaced by the previous owner and the Exup valve removed . The issue is that it accelerates hard up to about 7000 rpm then will not rev past that ..Any ideas where to start ? Thanks

    Hi, I'm new to this forum tonight, after struggling for a few days I've decided to join and ask for help. I've got a DT 125 LC MK1 When I first brought this bike a month ago as a project, it would start fine but wouldn't rev up past 1/2-3/4 throttle and seemed lacking in power, I stripped the carb down gave it a good clean out and see that the main jet was a 140 and the pilot was a 25. I ordered new jets for it so it's now got a 20 as a pilot and a 100 as main, I chose 100 over a 80 as it has a sports exhaust on it, updated reed valves and a aftermarket filter.     Hi people, I'm looking for some advice on my project bike I bought for next summer. I bought cheap as a commuter for work during summer months. The bike runs but not well. Will tick over with choke on but when I try to take choke off gradually, even when warm the bike will die with no choke. Also when I rev the bike there is like a delay/ bogginess at beginning of throttle that can sometimes make it stall. The bike rides OK when I test drove it but have to keep revs up when stopped, I haven't rode it since as is in garage with bits off.     Hi everyone, My last replacement exhaust for the XJ was a Marving 4 into two which fitted well and looked nice as well as running well. However the chrome fell off one of the silencers pretty quickly and no help was forthcoming from Marving when asked whether they thought this was acceptable (it was not) I'm now trying to sort the exhaust out again and options are extremely limited.     Hi, I'm Harrington & joined a few weeks ago. I am in the process of removing the engine from my Virago XV 535 & have a problem removing the mounting bolt from the lower rear of the crankcase. I have removed the nuts, & slackened all the other mounting bolts but this one won't budge. I am not sure how to remove it, I have applied WD40, hit it with a hammer (several times), tried 'unscrewing' it using 2 nuts tightened together bit still no joy. Any ideas??

    Age old story of bike meets Uber driver. I have a 1978 XS750 and since a minor collision a couple of months ago my carburettors aren’t running well at all. They are running too rich (I think) and the fuel ends up running backwards and out of the fuel box. I have taken the carburettors out and checked them throughout and given them a deep cleaning. All the seals and floats and jets all looked in very good Nick. This hasn’t resolved to issue and I really want to get the bike out in the sun.     Hello everybody! I would assume it's not often people come here and ask about Yamaha TZR50 issues. I'm brand new to bikes, this is my first moped I am learning, and I've owned it for about a year now. It has some issues that I want to look into. It has a prebought CDI tune, and I think this CDI has caused some issues for the bike (can't be sure though, I don't have the OEM CDI). The issue is at midrange RPM, the bike struggles getting up in speed, even on flat grounds, it doesn't gain any speed at all and just remains on the same RPM and sputters like it's getting too much or too little fuel. Possibly running too rich? (I have to shift down to get up in speed)…

  12. Hi everyone, as the title says, I cannot diagnose what is wrong with my bike. I purchased it a couple of months ago to restore, I have done quite a bit of work on it however it still does not run correctly. The bike ticks over when stationary without the choke, yet when I pull away it bogs and cuts out. If ran with the choke on, it rides absolutely fine, but doesn’t tick over when coming to a stop. When left idling with the choke, fuel comes out of the exhaust. I have added a new spark plug, coil pack, battery, and stripped, rebuilt and cleaned the carb yet the problem persists.     Hello . I have owned a 2009 Xj6n from new. I replaced both fork seal kits about 30000 + miles ago and I remember then that the locking ring above the seal was a real pain to remove. We are now well over 60,000 and another leaking seal. I cannot get the locking ring out this time. It is not rusted in , I just cannot get on it. Would have been useful if it was a wider ring or a circlip. Any advise? Thank you. David

  15. Hi All Let me first of state that I'm new and that I dont have much experience with motorcycles so I'd thought I'd try here. Basically the other day I did an oil change on my bike, took it out afterwards for around 30 miles and everything was working normally. However, yesterday as I took it out after around 13 miles the bike suddenly lost power from 60 MPH to around 45 MPH in just under 3 seconds.   16. As per title im after an aftermarket quick-shifter, blipper recommendation for my Tracer 900, 2017. I say aftermarket because as far as I know, adding the OEM one wouldn't give downshift / blip.     Hi everybody,I Recently bought a 2003 yzf600r. The bike was not running when i bought it the owner before said the bike was having charging problems so he replaced the stator and rectifier and now the bike wont turn over. Everything else electrically works fuel pump, lights etc. when i push the start button the oil and low gas light flash, the tacho also goes to 8k and back to 0 every 3 seconds when the bike is on. I do not hear any solenoid clicking when pushing the start problem that would indicate a low battery, I bridged the starter and it cranks strong. The battery is new and sitting at 12v.     Hi everyone I am Andrew and I have a dt 125 re 2005 which feels really flat. I have just put a new piston and rings in, done the crank seals etc. It ticks over smooth and drives through all the gears but is really lagging in power in ever gear. I have pinned the power valve open half way to try that but it is still flat. You open it up we're it starts to get going but just bottoms out on the revs change gear bottoms out again. When you put full throttle out and max it to the top it starts to miss like it's not sparking right or not getting enough fuel to give it that extra power. does not have that power valve type feeling on it. My mt was recently dropped and was stuck in first gear I've opened the transmission and found that the aluminium that holds the metal dowel pin in place has broken (photo and video attached) is there anyway I'd be able to get this welded if not I'd have to replace the casing but it looks like I'd have to replace the whole bottom half of the engine which is a lot of work for a dowel pin 🤣 anyone have any ideas...
