Hi All, Just joined the club. I have a Yamaha xs850sh 1980 which belonged to my late father. Over the last few years I have slowly rebuilt the bike. I have had ups and down with the bike initialy I gave it to a motorbike mechanic who had the bike over a year and promised me it will be up and running with an MOT. So I could Nova register for UK reg. I ended up going to the garage and loading the bike onto my van and took it home. With no MOT and still not running. The bike now starts and UK reg with an MOT. I am now doing the clutch. Looking forward to finding out more about the Yamaha xs850sh as I have no real experience on bikes. Regards …

Hi. Guys. Hoping for a bit of advice. I have had the exup cables off and fixed, adjusted and all that. But some times it don't rev past 5000rpm then it goes through and then revs ok, is it that the valve isn't opening quick enough? It's a pain when riding as i have to stop and hope it clears.

Hi everyone, looking for some assistance. I have a ys125, and recently I have noticed that my gear/neutral indicator is completely blank. Gears still going in normally, it just doesn't doesn't show on the screen. I had this issue happen once, and I was told that a piece got stuck. I was hoping I can attempt to fix it myself, however I couldn't find someone who experienced a similar issue anywhere online. Is anyone aware of what exectly the issue is or should I take it back to the mechanic? Thanks.

Hello i have a Yamaha DT50MX from 1987 (Twostroke). And i recently changed the piston. Then i started it and let it run on idle. But after 2 minutes it just died. And i do not know why. I have looked in the Carburetor in details. And i have really good spark on the sparkplug. I have both tried to roll start it and spraying in starting fluid. Please help if you can Thanks.

Hi Folks, After the 12k miles service my Tracer 900 came back with a loose chain and finger tight rear axle nut! Some months later I noticed that the clutch cable was getting trapped between the lower triple clamp and the frame. I bodged it with Gorilla Tape and I'm now at the 24k miles service and doing it myself this time so I want to correct the issue but I don't know what the proper routing should be? I've looked through the service manual and the Haynes manual but either missed it or its not in there. The Haynes manual shows the cable guide near the radiator but not what happens higher up from there... If someone could share a photo of theirs that would be …

My mt was recently dropped and was stuck in first gear I've opened the transmission and found that the aluminium that holds the metal dowel pin in place has broken (photo and video attached) is there anyway I'd be able to get this welded if not I'd have to replace the casing but it looks like I'd have to replace the whole bottom half of the engine which is a lot of work for a dowel pin 🤣 anyone have any ideas...

Putting an engine together and after spending a great deal of time learning what to do getting bearings out and new ones in I've finally put the cases together and have discovered that the threaded part of the crank is on the piss. It's got a noticeable bend in it and am guessing that this is going to cause a severe vibration and lead to the demise of the bearing pretty quickly. Am I right in this assumption and what are my options?

First Post here, Apologies if this is a common question. I've just removed the forks for the first time (by me at least), 2017 Tracer 900. They're being sent away to get new internals fitted - Nitron It doesn't seem right that one fork leg has no damping whatsoever, neither in compression nor rebound. I can hear that it has oil in it... and the manuals show that it should contain damping components... The only time the forks have been touched before was by a yamaha dealer for the 12k miles fork oil change. When the bike came back the new chain that they fitted was slack and the axle nut finger tight. Some time later I found the clutch cable incorrectly routed and…

Hey guys... it's me again! So my bikes gears are fixed - smooth as anything when changing - lovely. Now i'm getting to ride around a bit (aside from the abysmal headlight... that's another story!), i've noticed another little quirk. After riding around for an hour or so, I notice that the idle is closer to 2k than 1.5k. Occasionally when coming to a stop at junctions, with the clutch in, it will stay idling at 2.5-3k+. Opening the throttle a bit, then releasing, sometimes makes it idle down. The throttle (on the bars) is fully shut and even forcing it closed at the bar end does not let it idle down. I originally set the idle of my bike by letting it warm…

Hi all, After trawling everywhere for info and trying to identify an engine i acquired; thought i might ask for some pointers in a few things. I'm haven't been a Two-Stroker since my first bike. A friend had a yamaha engine he wanted to sell so he could fund another build and I snapped at it. He got it from a breakers and was sold as is. So far, he changed the clutch plates, added carb and new air filter, and replaced piston. He gave up on the engine after he couldnt find any manuals on it or identify it as anything other than a yamaha engine (He's not a yamaha rider). Looking at it, it looks like a Yamaha DT175 MX. I Cant Place the year though (but it…

Hello peeps! Background: Car driver for 11 years, have rode a motorcycle on 4 separate occasions now (CBT, lesson, two rides of my own bike). My 2006 Yamaha YBR125 is being a bit of a pain in the rear when changing gear (see what I did there?) - to go from first to second it will sometimes get stuck in neutral. Double declutching (letting the clutch out, and then pulling back in) sometimes helps, other times I have to come to a stop, and fiddle with the lever until it finally decides to go into a gear. This is particularly annoying when pulling out of a junction, and going up a hill - getting half way up and having to pull over because it's just not happening (a…

Hello guys, I bought a 2006 MT-03 a month ago and am generally happy with the performance, however I have noticed a small rusty hole in what seems to be an air induction system pipe (pic attached). Can anybody tell me what impact on performance can this cause and if the replacement is necessary? I am sometimes experiencing difficulties with starting the engine (both cold and warm) which can sometimes take 2-3 rounds of ~3sec starter spinning before the engine fires up, perhaps this may be linked? Thanks!

Hi everyone I am Andrew and I have a dt 125 re 2005 which feels really flat. I have just put a new piston and rings in, done the crank seals etc. It ticks over smooth and drives through all the gears but is really lagging in power in ever gear. I have pinned the power valve open half way to try that but it is still flat. You open it up we're it starts to get going but just bottoms out on the revs change gear bottoms out again. When you put full throttle out and max it to the top it starts to miss like it's not sparking right or not getting enough fuel to give it that extra power. does not have that power valve type feeling on it. I can ride it about round the doors but it…

Hi everybody,I Recently bought a 2003 yzf600r. The bike was not running when i bought it the owner before said the bike was having charging problems so he replaced the stator and rectifier and now the bike wont turn over. Everything else electrically works fuel pump, lights etc. when i push the start button the oil and low gas light flash, the tacho also goes to 8k and back to 0 every 3 seconds when the bike is on. I do not hear any solenoid clicking when pushing the start problem that would indicate a low battery, I bridged the starter and it cranks strong. The battery is new and sitting at 12v. Also i've tried flipping the pick up coil wires and inspecting what i can on…

Hello! First time here, non english, so forgive me for any typos etc. My YBR 125 engine (on Derbi Senda frame) started to make weird noise. Before that engine ran smoothly. Now power is lower than usual but it runs and shifts like it should. Link to video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blPZ5RVSqEQ What it could be? I've opened the engine up and no major flaws are seen. Im changing 125cc to 150cc anyway.
