Hey guys! Wasn't sure where to post this or look since I'm new here but I was wondering if anyone has ever taken the dummy top tank off the '87 Virago 535 and replaced it with an actual tank. What size tank did you use and how did you go about routing it to the main underseat tank?

Hi. The camshaft sprocket bolt on my 1997 virago 125 has stripped its threads ive got a new bolt but i cant find any info on the torque settings. does anyone know where i can get a workshop manual or the torque specs?. Thanks in advance.

  3. Hi, I recently bought the above bike and I'm not a fan of the footboards. I'd like to replace them with footpegs. Is it just a case of getting the correct pegs, removing the boards and fitting the pegs, or is it a bit more than that? Any and all advice welcome and thanks in advance for your thoughts on this. Hi all, I have fuel leaking from front cylinder and bike won't start. I have spark at both plugs, fuel pump kicks in and shuts off as normal, carbs recently rebuilt with full Jadus kit. Could it be the igniter unit? Any useful advice gratefully received. Ta TC

Hi guys, just bobber'd my XVS 650 but would like to look at exhaust options. Is it right that the rear sections come off and include the baffles? If so can I find something shorter that also has baffles in or is it easier to just change the whole system? I'm hoping to end up with something black and certainly shorter than the stock exhausts. I did buy some black exhaust wrap but decided it's not really what I want to do Thanks in advance:)

  6. Hi all. I'm new here and working on a yamaha xv535 and the fuel tap solenoid is dead (it doesn't activate when a charge is run through it)... Considering a new tap is near £100, can I just put a normal main and reserve tap on it. I'm happy to not use the handlebar switch so can it be replaced with any Main Res and Off tap fixed to the old tap bolts under the auxiliary (main?) Tank? Many thanx in advance and sorry if this is in the wrong section. Seana

  7. Hello, Without going into convoluted detail, I am thinking of getting my 1995 250 Virago emissions tested to try to use it in Central London. London will be extending the infamous ULEZ (Ultra-Low Emission Zone ) to the North and South Circular Roads in October (?) 2021. Bikes not meeting Euro 3 (Nox) standard of 0.15 gm/KM will pay £12.50 per day charge to enter "central" London. In the UK there appears to be only one company, the National Emissions Test Centre, that can test and quoting their website "Any Motorcycle can be made to meet the Ultra Low Emissions Zone (ULEZ) standard." Now NETC charges £170 to test the bike and probably more to "make the bike co…

Got one of these on the way for the vmax, sick of looking down away from where im going to see the rpm. Wife's blessing too, (for the clock anyway😉. Also going to delete the current but soon to be redundant rev counter/idiot light setup on the tank and make it a switch panel for power, fan override, trickle charge connection, etc. https://www.digital-speedos.co.uk/gauges-c4/motorcycle-gauges-c27/multifunction-gauges-c29/koso-tnt-04-multifunction-gauge-speed-rpm-temp-gear-indicator-8-colour-back-grounds-p674?fbclid=IwAR2t_Qi5r3oMymKc1UFn6ZpkSHEZR_JIPvar8-E4EMVk46Gw3et95k4vwec

Hi everyone! I’m new here and am looking for some help. I’ve got a Yamaha xvs 1100 dragstar and appear to have a tiny oil leak from the rear cylinder that appears to be about the head gasket. How hard is this to strip down and repair and is it possible to repair it myself without needing to have the head skimmed? Or is this possibly a ‘vibration’ issue where the bolts just need re torqued? Please help

Hi, recently bought an xvs1100 Dragstar and really like it but one thing I find strange is it is a very smooth engine until I hit 70mph and then it feels like a bag of nails and vibrates a lot! On a 1100cc bike this surprises me as I would have thought that at that speed it would be humming along, is this right??

  11. So, just aquired a 2002 Dragstar with no service history- its fairly smooth, a bit lumpy (i need to ride it more i think its the style) and very heavy but ill get used to it. I was just reading some posts about blocked breathers etc. and wondered if there is a decent oil it could use to prevent any sludge? Wet clutch i know doesnt like friction modifiers so need to be careful maybe you all use a decent oil? I plan to run premium fuel full time which will help other aspects - air filter i notice is partially covered by plastic, is this a max flow restriction? Should I cut it out and readjust the carb? Any help appreciated, i do know the limitations…

  14. Hello, at 75 I've just bought my first ever cruiser - a Dragstar 650 Classic. AND I LOVE IT! But there is a feature I haven't seen, as yet, anywhere else. It appears to have two fuel filler caps, one on each side of the speedo. The actual filler is on the right. On the left, when I unscrew the cap, there is an identically sized hole but with a plastic reducer - making the hole seems too small to accept a fuel filler nozzle. What on earth is it doing there? It balances the look of the tank, I must say. But that can't be the reason. Can it? cheers

Hello, I just bought my self a midnight star 1300 and shortly after i left in about 5 miles oil start to come out from the air intake casing, but a really propper amount of it that pored on the engine, exhaust and everywhere. I asked the guy and he said that when he changed the oil he put in about 4 liters of oil. Some other guy said that it is a common issue with Yamaha's and it is from a faulty rocker cover, and if i start listening to everybody... i will get nowhere After it took out about 2-300ml (by the looks) it stopped leacking and it gived blue smoke for about 10 miles. After that nothing came out any more. Left it for 2 days and whe…

I have the official service manual, but it often requires specific tools i managed to create clutch tool, and rotor tools,, used steering wheel puller successfully, but crankcase seems more complicated. BTW, don’t follow manual and undo the u-joint. Totally unnecessary

I have just fitted straight through pipes to my Yamaha dragstar 250 and im finding that the bike sometimes struggles to start when cold. Do i need to adjust the air intake or upgrade the idle jet in the carb? Once its been started its fine for the rest of the day.

  20. Hi, all, I have recently bought a XVS1100 Dragstar custom which has Dunlop K555s front and rear. The machine wriggles like a greased weasel when it encounters a joint or tar-snake on the road. I have upped the pressures to 40psi, resulting in only a mild improvement. I can't believe that this is the natural characteristic of the machine, nor has it ever been dropped of damaged - so it must be the tyres. So, over to you, my fellow XVS pilots - what would be your recommendation, and why. Your input would be gratefully received, and may well save me forking out for a different set of tyres that still don't do the job. Cheers for your time …
