Many years ago, I met a girl. Since I needed money to take her out, I sold my beloved 1964 Suzuki 250 street bike (2 stroke, I had to mix oil and gas in the tank). Fast forward 41 years - now I'm married to the same girl, but I still miss my old bike. I took the MSF course, and bought a used V-Star 650. Not counting a five minute test drive, I hadn't been on the street on a bike in 41 years - I remedied that yesterday. I went about 25 miles round trip, combination of city, highway, and just a touch of freeway driving. Minor hiccup when I almost couldn't get the gas cap off at the station, but I finally did it. The ride was intimidating for the first five minute…

Hi All! To shortly introduce myself - I'm living in Poland(EU) and riding XS 400 SE (4G5) '81 since 3 years now. It's my first bike (not countining my wife's HOnda CB250) and was supposed to be just for some time, but it seems it will stay for another few seasons. I already found some help using this forum, but came to the point to ask few questions, so wanted to introduce first... BTW - you know - I'm the same age as my bike and nobody calls me "classic" - strange, isn't it?? ) b.r. Oscar

Hey guys, Finally decided to scratch the itch i have had since i was 16 and buy myself a bike! more financially motivated than anything else tbh, but even diesel costs in my 45mpg van are painful at the present time! Bought myself a 1989 Yamaha DT 125, this one to be precise: Dont know much about it tbh, plenty of forum searching to be done! Not really ridden a bike ( succesfully anyway! ) before, but took it for a spin down the road last night and was pretty shocked at how hard the power comes in! Hoping to get it off road this weekend get me some practice and get used to the bike. Anyways, sure you'll all hear plenty of stupid ques…

Hi there, My name is Kyle and I'm an aircraft mechanic from the east end of glasgow. My whole experience with motorbikes is a mini moto i got as a kid for christmas (which i crashed on the first day). Have been telling myself for years I'd get my bike license but only yesterday went ahead with it. Purchased myself a brand new yamaha ys125 from the Jim Allan showroom in Falkirk and pretty psyched to pick it up after my CBT on the 4th of october. I'll stick some pictures once i get it but for the mean time I'll hang out here and hopefully pick up some good hints and tips to get me off to a good start. Cheers

I have joined other forums in the past which were related to the vehicles I own and work on frequently, I have always found them to be very helpful especially since many of the other members as either more advanced in the repair work and knowledgeable, or they have experienced the same issues and provide various ways to remedy the problem. I am quite sure I will find tons of useful information here as well as a few possible friendships. OHH Yeah by the way my name is Dave and I have a couple of vintage yamahas listed in my profile and am currently restoring one of them! the other the 650 GSE I have promised to sell to my stepson.

Hello! Last weekend, during a visit home to see family, I bought my dad's bike. A 1983 Virago XV500. About a year ago he bought the bike from a family friend with the intent of using it as a commuter bike. He did what was needed to get it running, and then just let it sit, running it occasionally just to make sure it still ran. Since he wasn't using it, I decided it would be better off being my commuter bike. I know I need to replace the front tire and should probably replace the rear one, too even though the tread looks fine. Any thoughts? I'd like to find an owner's/repair manual. My google searching abilities don't appear to be up to snuff. This i…

Hello all, First time Yamaha owner. I had already posted a topic in the help/repair forums, but was told by another member that it might help to say "hello" first. Name's Jarrod. I love the vintage Endurop bikes. I have an older Suzuki and a KE100. Something about the older bike gometry that I am fond of. I recently picked up a 1988 DT50 for some youngins in my family to learn to shift on. If anyone has any tips, help, two cents, comments from the peanut gallery, or any other advice from sages of old... feel free to pass them on. And if you know about DT50 throttles... check out my other thread Thanks all and take care, Jarrod

Just bought my first motorcycle yesterday ('07 v-star 1300). I'm on the road taking her for a few hour ride around Lake Livingston Texas. I stopped at a diner for a BLT and I happened upon this forum. Figured this was the place to be. I haven't run into any issues yet, but I'm sure I will before long. I'd appreciate any tips or tricks, as well as any riding buddies around the Houston area. I'm band new to all of this. I'm also going to be doing a ride from Houston, TX to west Colorado and camping along the way next month. Planning to head through NM. Any advice or good places to check out, or ride would be appreciated.

Hey all, Just bought a 1980 DT175 G a few weeks ago. While searching the webs for info on it I came across this I'm pretty sure it's the bike. So a few years on here's the DT in Wellington: Pretty good condition aside from some extra surface rust. Since getting it I've cleaned it up a bit, replaced the break pads, installed some boysen reeds and had a leaking crank seal replaced. Not sure what I'll do next on it. Cheers

Hello ! I'm about to take ownership of my first Yamaha for 20 years - since passing my test on a 1988 TZR 125 (in Camel F1 colours for those of you that can remember that far back !)...in 1995. The 'new' Yamaha is a 2012 X Max 250. Bought for my 50 mile round trip commute to work. I've got an old VFR800 at the moment - but it has too much power, not enough storage and a heavy clutch for the filtering I need to do every day. I've had a Burgman 400 in the past which was a bit cumbersome and heavy - so I'm hoping the X Max should be a bit of a revelation ! Keep safe if you're riding at this time of year - I wimped out on the bike this morning - bike + slush does not …

Always wanted an RD250/350 back in the seventies, but chose a K4 250 Honda as my one and only new bike. Always fixed my own so happy to pass on any tips if needed to new riders. All the best Pete
