Good morning YOC - well, it's raining but every morning is good. I'm a newbie. Retired a little while ago, had a hankering for a long time to get back onto two wheels and I've just made the plunge. Bike is on its way, I need to get some kit and get ready to launch. I looked at some boots the other day. It was really interesting to see that boots don't have that steel strip riveted under the right-side boot - you know, the one you use on the kick-start! Yeah, ancient aren't I. Electric starters seem to be the norm - progress, huh! Any way, I'll let you know how I get on (I know, cock your leg over the saddle).

Hello everyone, It's Pat here form Ireland (I know, the name is original) I was on the look out for a T80 for the past while but was on a very limited budget, I finally managed to pick one up over the May bank holiday weekend. What character this bike has. It has 6000 Miles on board and in relatively good condition. Seemingly it was in a garage for the last 8 years. The crazy thing was that once new petrol was added a few kicks and it started. From then it's starting on the first kick. I think i'm going to strip it back to the mental and refurb it from scratch, does anyone know where is the best place to get parts. I have all original lights but what i need is a …

Hi folks, Im just back into bikes after a 2 year break. Just picked up a 96 Thundercat last week and rode it home 130 miles from Durham. Thought it would have been a kinda sensible choice after having been off for a wee bit. Got home no probs, but the clutch is now giving me hell on earth!!!!! Managed to change the plates, tried to adjust it after putting it all back together, but the lever is either solid or flapping.... Does anyone have any ideas, Have i tightened the springs too much, or just been an eejit n missed something more simple? Cant wait to get out at every opportunity!! Looking forward to speaking to you's Gordy.

Hi everyone. Pretty much as the title says. I had one of these as a field bike some 30+ years ago and after watching a few Youtube vids decided it was time to get another one ! My normal ride is sports bikes + a Buell Lightning but so far having done about a tank full of short trips I'm loving the DT. What potholes in the road? I believe it's a 1980 model first registered in the UK in 2011 and judging by the number plate Redrose have been involved at some point. My first run out was a bit of a mare - the bike stopped after a mile, started after 2 or 3 kicks, then stopped 1/2 a mile later and that routine continued until I got home. I suspected fuel starvation (fr…

Good to be a new member on the forum, so much interesting and useful stuff on here. I have recently bought an RXS100, 1993 reg with just shy 10k miles on the clock but needs a bit of work doing - bit of a nostalgia trip but I still love the look of the RXS. Passed my test on an RXS back in 1990 and have owned a couple of other Yamahas over the years (DT125R and RD350 YPVS) will be good to tinker again, have really missed the simplicity of these bikes. Going to clean out carb, get new coil etc as the revs and pick-up are a bit hit and miss and choke is very sticky- these things are always a process of elimination! Looking forward to learning more on the forum, every da…

Hello all. Just joined so I thought I would say hi before I start asking for help. I started my motor biking when I was 16 with a Yamaha FS1-E 50 in 1998. I went on to get a TZR125 and I loved it. Sadly I passed my car test and neglected her and ended up selling her in 2000. In 2002 I ended up acquiring her again after her owner crashed her into a wall. I spent a few months restoring her. Then I ended up getting married and she got stored in a container in my mates work and ended up getting stolen or lost and she hasn’t been seen since. I lost interest and never ended up doing my full test and thought my biking days was over. Which brings us to 2012. About 8 wee…

Hi I have just bought a 1974 Yamaha RD 250 US import with a genuine 8100 miles on the clock with matching frame and engine numbers and original as far as I can tell with my limited knowledge of these bikes. I am one of the older generation having passed my test (if you could call it that) back in 1971(had a bantam and then a 175cc Honda ) then moved onto a car. I came back to biking 2 years ago after a 40 year abstinence buying a classic 1960 AJS 350 which I have restored. I wanted another classic bike but the old British stuff that I like is really expensive now even for a wreck and I am not loaded, then I saw this Yam!!! Always fancied another two stroke and couldn…
