I have a trolley jack that I used for my VL800 Volusia, I was considering using it for when I do work on the XVS as it has the two chassis rails for the jack to sit under. However looking at the rails it seems the engine block is a bit lower than the rails so the jack would be lifting from under the engine rather than on the rails. Is this ok, might be a daft question but wondering how others use (if they do) a trolley jack image here

I have a 53 plate Dragstar 1100, and am finding every bolt I try to remove, to fit saddlebags for example but the hex heads on the bolts are soft. So much so that I am finding them rounding off before I can loosen them. having to use my dremel to square the top then replace them. Is this common ?

Hi everyone new member and bike ready to collect 2nd Jan. buying from keep biking, Brackley Northants. Test drove the 900 and 1100 having had a break from biking, my last bike was a Honda blackbird which kind of bought the worst out of me on the road. wow what a test ride, comfy, loud with highway hawk pipes. just s little hello and a couple of pics of my upcoming new toy. Think some saddlebags are on my list, that and learning more about care of the bodywork / chrome as I don't want to be a fair weather rider.

Good evening. Having an issue with my Xvs 125. When I shift gear, twist throttle back or let off throttle my whole swing arm shifts to one side and when cruising and low speed you can kind of feel a slight wobble. Got it in the shed and raised off the floor and there is excessive play in the swing arm. So I have ordered new pin, bushes, seals and covers. Wanted to be prepared for when they come but I have run into a bit off an problem. I can not for the life of me get the pin that holds the swing arm to the chassis to budge even the slightest bit! Is the pin threaded in or is it just 14yrs of rust and crud that's seized it in? Cheers.

Hello folks. I'm based in the UK and I'm looking for info to find a bobber style rear guard for a 2001 dragstar 650. I've already sourced the springer seat to go with it but have had little luck on eBay. I'm wanted to avoid ordering from the US due to timing and import dutys. This is the style I'm after. I've seen shorter ones and square shaped trailer ones but I'm after this longer type so can mount the light and plate .

I get to the petrol station, open the filler cap, sitting astride the bike, I insert the nozzle into the tank and squeeze the trigger. Fuel comes gushing in - then suddenly CLUNK it stops. I have quick look at meter... a mere 5.5 litres - but I've covered more than 260km... Can't be right? I start pouring the petrol in s-l-o-w-l-y... Six litres... Seven litres... Eight litres... What's up? I'm thinking it's probably spewing out onto the forecourt via some overflow pipe but no - still it flows... Drivers behind me are getting impatient. A queue is building up. The fuel comes right up to the neck - then settles back down. And again. And again. I'm pouring real slow. I wobbl…

Hi all. Just went out for a ride with some friends and noticed a wobble on the rear wheel. Now I've only had the bike just over a week so I'm not sure what to check for. It seems to be getting worse the more I ride. Any advice for a new owner would be appreciated as it's vibrating the whole bike and im getting extremely worried (it's my only transport)

Hey folks wondering if any of you have had this problem before as its not really stated in the manual. A chap that used to be on here (Auzz) is not off to go and work out in Saudi for a few years so gave me his 650 draggy to fix up and sell on but it is in a sorry state and in urgent need of some loving. Now for a bit about the bike, she starts up ok with the engine light going out as it should, it struggles to idle to start with but then she settles down and tick over fine, (carbs need looking at) she will then ride fine and pull hard but as soon as you pull on full throttle she will bog down, pop and fart till you ease off a bit, (air leak / jets) Here's the bit thats s…

Two weeks without use (been out a couple of times on the Derbi in the meanwhile) and when I tried to fire up my Dragstar - flat battery. So I refer to the manual (online here: http://www.manualslib.com/manual/612327/Yamaha-Xvs125.html) and read the following: At this stage, I'm thinking WTF. My nearest Yamaha dealers are right on the other side of town, and Yamaha expect me to visit them to charge a flippin' battery. Surely I can charge it myself? And then I read: My battery charger is a standard 12V charger for a car battery. I guess I'd be unwise to attach this to my Dragstar's battery. Given that the bike is 11 years old and has spend most of its life standing around…

Hi Hope I am not breaking any rules by posting this. I have just got a set of new saddle bags so my old ones (18 months) are up for grabs as they were too small for what I needed. They are leather look with a chrome stud trim, they are in good condition a bit of light surface rust on some of the studs. They would need to be collected from Market Harborough If you pm me your email I have a couple of pictures I can send. Don't want anything for them, just thought I would offer them here before I take them down the charity shop.

Hi, I have "inherited" an "N" reg 250 Virago (XV250 Dragstar elsewhere?). It runs nicely and I am working on getting rid of the obvious rust points. I have two problems that need fixing and I need some help on. The headlight flasher has stopped working. I am assuming when I switch to high beam that filament of the lamp is what the flasher switch powers up temporarily. The high beam works so the bulb is ok (?). Any ideas how I diagnose and fix the problem with the flasher switch? Separately, does anyone know where I can source the down pipes for the exhaust? Currently mine are badly rusted, patched up with gun gum but there are still leaks. I have searched online but I can…

I'm utterly delighted with my new Yamaha XVS 125 Drag Star. Visually, it fits my bill and I can ride it legally here in Poland until senility sets it. My Harley-owning neighbour couldn't believe it was a 125. What's not to like? Well, to my tastes, the front wheel's too large in diameter and too narrow in the rim. Looking at the 650 Drag Stars - there's the base version, with an 18" front wheel and a 110/90-18 tyre, and the Classic, which has same 16" wheels front and back and 130/90-16 tyre in the front. Now, my 125 Drag Star has a 130/90-15 tyre at the back, while in the front there's an 80/100-18 tyre. I read somewhere here that that's a big difference in widths betwe…
