Hi there, I need to remove the fuel tank on my baby after dropping her after carelessly parking her on a slope - *Sighs* Having a quick look, I can see 2 bolts on either side (At the tail of the teardrop tank) presumably, these will allow me to lift the tank?... Presumably I need to detach the speedo clock first?... I'll be doing this for the first time, so any tips or pointers or anything to watchout for would be gratefully appreciated.... many thanks, -Mits-

Check your monoshock!! They have a tendency to snap off, but because of the design layout, YOU WILL NOT NOTICE unless you inspect the bike, or if you ride over a pothole, whereupon the bike will drop down, go clunk and at best you'll be riding alarmingly low. At worse, you'll lock up the rear wheel and fishtail. Very nasty! Seems around the 30,000+ mile mark, the monoshock gets a little brittle. Doesn't seem to matter how clean you keep it either, as this second Dragstar had a lot of lubing and maintenance after the first one's shock snapped. When it fails, it will snap off just between the swingarm bracket and the preload adjuster. The reason you won't notice whi…

So I've bought an XVS 125 (2000) and I'm having the issue of not going any faster than 37mph ( 60km/h ) I've allready checked : Air filter, Exhaust, Air/fuel mix, changed the battery and changed the oil The bike pulls well in 1st gear but in 2nd it goes towards the 60km/h and than it just stops pulling... what am I missing ? Is there any restrictor I don't know about ?

Hello everyone, new member here on the forum. Got a question for you all. Today I ordered a restrictor kit for my XVS1300 so that I will be able to ride it on my A2 license (35kw limit) but I havent the slightest on how to install it. I was hoping to perhaps get a few pointers or talk to someone who has done it previously! Thanks in advance, Mikael912

Hi everyone, I have a dragstar that I bought to restore. I have nearly bought everything I need but I cannot for the life of me find any pictures of the carb pipe work and the service manual is no use. I was wondering if anyone has any pictures they could send me so I can finish it off please. Kind regards Tony

Hi to all this is my first post on here my brother has bought an 02 xvs650 dragstar which the previous owner has started to Bob. He is having an issue where he charges the battery and when he goes out for a run the battery is not holding the charge and running flat. My thoughts are the stator but is there any known issues with the charging system on these bikes, or indeed any other potential reason for the battery not charging while riding. Thanks for taking the time to read this I'm hoping someone can help

Hi Guys, I have recently had problems with my XV 125 and through the help of this forum and a lot of testing with a multimeter i have finally solved my issue. Turns out that the CDI unit was faulty and i have repaired it now and i thought it would be a good idea to get it up on the forum for future use. The problem i had was that only 1 cylinder was firing. I only had the front cylinder firing on my bike. I did the usual, checked plugs, checked coils and all seemed ok. So from there i worked from the Iginition electrical diagram If you look on the diagram the command to fire comes from a number of factors: A = Primary pick up coil B = Battery…

Hey everyone, currently own a xvs 1300 midnight star from 2007. The issue i have is that I'm a very big guy (400lbs and 203cm tall) and the design of the seat makes it so that most of the strain ends up right on the tailbone (which i fractured about 1 year ago) This results in me being in excruciating pain if i ride more than 100km so I'm looking for an alternative seat for it and figured I'd check here if people have had similar issue and see what kinda seats people recommend. Thanks in advance, Mikael912

G'day While trying to help my mate with his bike while he is in hospital, I've made a bike mistake; I swapped over batteries and connected the new one up the wrong way! I found the 30 amp fuse under the seat, but I've noticed that I can't hear the fuel pump anymore. Does it have it's own fuse? I've checked all the ones in the fuse box and they are all fine. I just don't know enough of these bikes to know where the location is of everything. If anyone here can help me out with what I need to do next, you would really be helping me big time! I haven't told my mate yet about what I've done coz I'm hoping I can get it fixed first.

Goodafternoon, I have been struggling with some repairs to a bike. mainly the fuelpump does not start running after i turn on the ignition. The things i have tried is checking the electrical system, and testing different fuelpump relay, the ECU, and diodes, even tested the ignition coils but no budge. the wire going to the fuel pump is not getting any power when i measure it, now i have 3 fuel pump relays and none of em work so it has to be something else i recon. (or i have 3 faulty relays) I notice however if i switch the fuel reserve button to on and back that the pin receive 5 volts for 1 second else in every situation its not responding. the …

Hi everyone I have just bought a dragstar XVS650 bobber but it cut out on me after 10 miles. The dealer who sold it to me took it back and told me the engine is partially seized and it needs a new one! They will refund me in full under warranty, and take it back, but I still want it. Another option is to keep the bike at a reduced price and have it repaired but I don’t have the skills to rebuild or replace the engine. Does anyone know a good bike garage in the north west who would take this on and is reliable ?

Hello, I got myself xvs 650 1997 34k KM about year ago and everything seemed to be fine. Last year November I did the oil change, drove few KM and put it away for winter. Roughly month ago I took it out and went for a ride. Came back and noticed that engine is somewhat louder. It could be that oil I used is different hence the noise difference ( I had extremely noisy suzuki once and my virago was not much better in that regard). It seems like its been getting louder the more I ride. I slapped some 20W 50 in it today and noise wise it sounds about same ( does shift smoother though). Maybe its just my paranoia but it would be great if someone could shed some light on i…

Hi all, First posting. First Yamaha XV920R. The choke cable has been removed so I am looking to replace it with a 'pull out chock' located on the side rather than the handlebar. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do that? Can it be done? Thanks in advance Dave

Hi All, I bought a 2014 XV950 with vance and hines twin slash exhaust already fitted about a year ago, it looks and sounds amazing but i'm looking to tone down the sound and reign in the ridicuous amount of popping. For the volume i'm thinking smartpartz baffles, i've heard good things about their noise reduction, does anyone have any input or experience with them? For the popping im thinking of buying a tuner, maybe the Cobra Fi2000r, as a fairly new biker i'm not sure if i'll need to get it dyno'd to get the balance close enough for the tuner to do it's thing, or will it be a case of 'plug & play'? Cheers in advance.

I have a 2001 XV535DX, the ignition key fits the Ignition, Petrol cap & Helmet Lock. But as for the steering lock there is no key when I purchased the bike from my wife's late Uncle's widow. How would I go about getting the old Steering lock barrel out so I could buy a new one complete with key🙄

Hi all, Was looking for a new rear tyre for my 125 dragster. Currently has a Bridgestone 130/90 -15m on it. I'd really like a white wall, however the smallest I can find is a 140/90-15, would that work? I'm yet to find a garage local to me that does bike tyres specifically otherwise I would go have a chat with them
