Hi All, Been a while since i posted last, so here goes. I have this XT125 that has been an almighty pain in the backside, it wouldn't run properly so its been stripped and rebored and rebuilt. Second kick of th starter, and the end of the shaft broke off, which was frustrating. I have changed the kickstart shaft, but it seems the small lug in the crank casing that makes the starter spring back has broken off. I have found some casings online for sale, but the engine number i have doesn't seem to look like any of the others, ie mine starts X12V- rather than the 15E- or 10A- of the engines for sale online. I have recently bought a '91 XT600E to replace my Kawasaki ZXR400 which I was finding too sports focused. I payed £800 for it with 17k on the clock and FSH. It is a bit tatty round the edges but mechanically sound. I have enjoyed riding it during the last couple of months and this has gotten me thinking about touring europe next summer. I was wondering if anyone could help me out with the following: 1. Does anyone make a screen for the XT as I'm finding it quite heavy going at speeds over 65mph. Also, does adding a screen make the high speed weave better or worse? 2. What is the XTs' true tank range when run hard/normal? 3. What are the best tyres for touring/…

I've got a 1990 dt125r, dep rear silencer but only seems to b doin 50 miles per tank, n e 1 got n e ideas, also does any1 no how to derestrict early models mines a 1989/90 model so every1 says its easy but doesn't say how? Thanx Matt :?

hi can help me i have fully restored a yam dt250 mx apart from left hand side panel these r like rocking horse s--t and a standard rear silencer it has a dep can but i would prefure standard any condition considered, nxt project my rd250e 1980 which is 75% restored then i am looking for a fsie 1977 yellow dx.

Hi Finally getting down to doing some bits on the XT350 to tidy it up and get ready for an MOT. Got a question regarding plastics. Mine has the original plastics on it but they are in a bad way. Because the bike is a California inport and seems to have spent a good deal of time sat out in the sun the plastics had suffered badly. What I want to know is this. How do I bring them back? Can I revive them? They seem to have a 1mm thick coat of powdery degraded plastic. Just like what you get on those white plastic tables you leave out in the garden all year round. You can scratch it off fairly easily with a finger nail but when you do this it still don't look so c…

there is a spark when the ignition is off but then when the ignition is turned on the spark goes thn come bk when turned back off, but to start u gota turn the key as u kick and it will start and stay running but if i turn it off with the key and leave it for 10 seconds it wont start and u gota turn kill switch to off thn kick the started 1'ce thn tunr kill switch back on thne kick and turn key and it will start and since then the indicators have stoped workin do you think this is related and more importantly any help with it, owt at all, any ideas jsut say cheers

Hi all Ive just bought my thumper after changing from a sportsbike and I am loving it already, it needs some tlc so Ive ordered sprockets and chain and an oil filter etc , reading the haynes manual it says there is either a dipstick filler cap or a window , well I cant find either, but there is a one penny coin stuck low down on thew front of the engine is this where the window would have been ???also should it have a battery and will the regulator be fitted or was this an option ???How easy is it to fit a battery or doesnt it need it , I am planning to put indicators back on it as well .Cheers for any help

Hey guys New to forums and riding in general so bear with me, I've been riding since I was 8 on off road bikes (scramblers) but due to worrying mother have never been allowed to ride on the road, now that I'm finally not too busy due to uni I'va started learning on the Road. At the minute I have a Varadero 125, seems good but lacks poke. Once I pass I have another year at uni and once I graduate (being able to move up to any cc) I'm thinking of getting a XT 660 R and it will mostly be used for commuting, weekend touring and riding up and down the motorway, I'm not bothered with the protection issues of riding a "non-faired" bike but was just concerned with spee…

Hello I just found this site good thing. I trying to change my fork oil on my 1984 Yamaha XT-250. On the bottom of the tube theres a hex plug and on the side a small phillips head screw. I tryed getting the hex out thought it was a plug! but it just seems to turn and not thread out! Both fork tubes are the same, I dont want to screw any thing up as I just got the bike and dont have a shop manual yet, Can some one please advise. Thank you
