I have a 1974 DT175 that I just got running. It's been converted to a dirtbike (no battery or lights), and I'd like to just put a headlight on it. Which wire coming from the magneto should I connect to and how do I control the voltage so it wont dim with different engine speeds? Thanks!

Howdy, I need a longer side stand for my xs400 tracker and was wondering what the length of a DT or XT would be? (measured from pivot to bottom) mine is 200mm and needs to be 250-260mm in length. not sure of the shape, but mine's like a fork at the pivot with a thread to take the pivot bolt! cheers drewps

heya Horse pulled my bike over yesterday and now its about 1/4" pulling to the right, whats the best way of straightening my front wheel up again. i had a quick look and there is a massive bolt type thing in the middle do i just loosen that up and get them straight and tighten up again? on my dt i bought some smaller indicators and just connected them to the wires i disconnected the old indicators from but now what ever way you switch the indicators they all come on. please help.

Hi Every one; First of all I just want to say what a great site, I have been reading it for awile just for fun. Now I have a issue that has me puzzled. My 78 DT 400 with 5000 miles on it starts on the first kick and runs great for 4 to 5 min then dies even while excelerating it just cuts out and will not start back up no even a hint of starting. If I wait a hour or so it will start up again and do the same thing. I have had the carb cleaned and the petcock aswell it is getting fuel because when I pull the plug it is wet. I realy apreciate any help that can be offerd. Thanks Matt

So, i thought i was very near to getting the final DT up and running. I started work on the electrics and have now spent many hours trying to just get a spark. I have power coming from the generator as my dad found out "oops". But when i test with a multimeter just as the wire leaving the CDI goes into the ignition coil, its extremley weak, and i get no spark. I've come to the conclusion that either the CDI is shit, or the pickup coil is shit. Either way its all poop atm and im fed up for today so ive packed up ready to go to work. I've been trying to work from the the loom on my 2002 DT which works fine. The main question is has anyone got a CDI unit for a mk3 LC…

Evenin all Right to start i am rubbish at maths unless its money then strangly enough i am pretty good!! The manual for this athena kit informs me that i should ditch the auto lube system in favour of premixing at 3% Fine easy enough but a bit of a chew carrying around oil. So in theory could i use the auto lube system as standard and just add some oil to the tank to make the mix up to 3%? Was thinking one of those super strength engery shot bottles. much easier to carry about than a full size bottle By any chance does someone have the figures for the standard lube system? hi all this is my first post on this forum, i have a 2002 yamaha dt125r in good condition, i have a problem with it i put it away sunday night and today it wouldnt start, ive checked the petrol checked the spark plug etc etc, there is a white connector behind the water tank that is making a clicking noise could there be a problem with that or is there anything else it could be. sorry for being so vague, cheers will

Just found this forum today and it seems great. Was reading a bunch of posts about the DTr125 being restricted and it got me thinking if my 78 was also. Dad bought the bike new when he bought my first YZ80 and since he has passed on, I have the bike now. When I got my 06 WR, the Yamaha manual listed everything thats nedds to be done to unrestrict it, but I dont have the manual to check for the 78. If unrestricting is possible, I doubt Dad did it and I would really like to give this old workhorse some more umpf! Thanks

hi ive just bort a dtr 125 on the road for my first bike, iwas wondering how i use the choke properly and how long u leave it on for? when i first kick the bike up its a bit smoky then after 5 minutes its ok. iz this normal? also wen i try to change into second gear it doesnt go uless u really really force it. any help would be great as this is my first bike. cheeers guys

Hello to everybody. Probably, I should introduce myself since it is my first post here. Recently I've got second hand Yamaha DT 125R '98. Main usage is short trips (1-3 days) both road and offroad for landscape photography purposes. I drived it for a couple of months (sept., oct.) and now I have time to repair everething. The bike works, but some things should be fixed. I'm not a kid but it is my first bike. That's why I have a bunch of stupid questions. 0. Common. I have a Haynes manual for this bike. hello members, good day just bought the other week a yam dt125re, but think the sellers saw me coming a bit ! already the bike needs some attention, ie power valve, because when just ignition turned on (no starter)the powervalve makes usual noise, ie moves and cleans itself procedure, but when running the bike noticed it seemed bit down on power and torque when riding, anyway removed l/h powervalve cover (2 screws) and saw that the powervalve is not advancing when engine is revved, indeed not moving at all other than when 1 st turn ignition on. when i bought bike from a garage they would not let me test ride it without full money in their hands, but just started bike st…
