I've been looking around for a cheap off road bike that i can ride round fields etc and I came across a few copy bikes like apache etc. Are these any good? if theyre reliable enough then I'll get one as theyre a few hundred quid cheaper than genuine bikes but they still use genuine honda & yamaha engines.

Gday fellas and girls, I recently scored myself an original 76 model dt 100 here in Aus. She"s a beaut but cant get a spark, checked the coil and plug, fuse and all good? Points are ok but no power there either.Have ordered new points and condenser and am waiting to get here. Be great if I can get her going just to do her up to her former glory. Can anyone help? I have a 1975 dt400. The head light and tail light work but I can't get the turn signals to work. I put a new flasher in it and if I cross the power from the flasher power terminal to either side terminal and switch the lever from left to right the turn signals come on but don't blink. Any advice would be appreciated...

Hey everybody, i am new to this board and joined because i need alittle help from the dirt bike gurus. i am a chopper enthusiast and am trying to help a neighborhood kid who came to me looking for help. he saw that i work on bikes in my garage and stopped to ask if i could fix a dirtbike he found. i believe the bike is a late 60's to early 70's yamaha dt250? he found the bike abandoned in a field close to his home. it had been sitting there for years but the frame and engine where still there, everything else people took off. there were still some wires connected from the engine to the coil. my question is if anybody could help me figure out how to connect the wiring so i…

Hi Guys New to off road riding and I'm after some advice. I'm looking to buy a bike for general green laning and off road riding but I'm not sure what model to go for. I've narrowed it down to either the WR250R or WR240F or WR450F. Can anyone tell me which one would be best. I need it for road use as I will be riding it to the various green lanes and tracks and also for use to commute to work. Is the 250 powerfull enough ??? I have a MT-03 660cc which is good but needs more power, this is the only bike I have rode. any advice would be appreciated. Steven.

I have a 2004 DT electric start model which does not start while cranking. It only seems to start when the button is released? Is there a relay that controls the starting coil while cranking? Thanks.

Hi i have a 98 dt 200r and it studders sitting on any speed and any rev but it sound good when i go up in speed it has a pro circuit exhaust system on it and its been re jetted for the exhuast system im not sure if its just the racing pipe and i carnt get a original pipe for it. Ive only been able to get 84 ks out of a tank is that bad or good for a dt Please help cheers

hi guys been running my 2001 dt in past few weeks passed the 100miles(only go to girlfriends really ) mark this weekend new rider<< just a few questions and help would really be appreciated as i have a problems. Dont know if im being stupid or the bike is a bit knackered. first problem is when i come to traffic lights i cant find neutral. mate of mine said i should be able to but it definitely wont go in to neutral. Someone said the clutch cud be broken (not cable) but i have no idea as i know nothing about bikes. second problem when i got the bike it has a bodge job of a air filter on it. mate fitted a standard air filter to it and it ran fine. but …

Folks I've just acquired a 1996 dt125r with 11000 miles. the bike is in really good condition but has been sitting in a garage for 2 years without ever being started. imagine my surprise when after 15 mins of kicking....it started!!! i was amazed at this. However.......2 problems.......as follows: First, the lights work but are very dim when on idle. on revving they are fine. when i turn on the indicators they dont flash on idle but they do when the bike is revved. im assuming it simply need a new battery. Recently re sprayed my exhuast from my 2005 dt125re. Was in a rush putting it back together as i needed it for some studio filming i had planned the following morning. Missed the final mounting bolt on the silencer somehow ( I know, WTF, but i did =/). Passed my driving test a week later so havn't used the bike much since. Was nice weather today so took her out for a ride. At around 60mph the bike suddenly got very loud. Looking in my mirror i can see my silencer bouncing around the road behind me. Hi Everyone, I have a 1997 DT125R it used to be running absolutly fine before I bought it. I bought it off mate and put everything back together and now it wont rev past 9k which makes it go slow. I have taken pipe off looked up the barrel and turned the powervalve so it is completly open and pinned it there, it has a full dep system on it aswell i just cant get my head round that it wont rev past 9k revs. And suggestions are welcome, Many Thanks, Paul

My Gilera RCR 50 has broken, and i don't know how. Recently the exhaust fell off but we welded it back on after a day or 2 without the muffler. THe exhaust has fallen off again and now it wont pull more than 10MPH uphill and 30MPH DOWNHILL!!!!!! IF i pull the clutch in it will cut out and it will not kick start. Can anyone help me Im desperate to fix it so i can get my 125. I know it's not related to a yamaha but i really need help, any help is appreciated THANK YOU!!

I have a dt 125lc 1985 and have just put another engine that i got off ebay in it but i cannot get it to run i have a spark and fuel but it just about runs and backfires and dies if you turn off the choke or try to rev it.I have tried a different carb and reeds but it makes no difference so i am wondering if its a timing thing or my cdi is not compatible with my engine,does anyone know a way of checking or are all the cdi"s the same.I was told by the seller that the engine came out of an 89 dt and mine is a 1985

Hi, DT125R 2001 and please someone tell me where the coolant tank is ? because the dope i have bought it from says the small tank at the back left is 2stroke oil ! and so is the one up the front right ! Im thinking this is now BALONY and that the tank front right that has oil on the lid is 2stroke oil, and that the small tank at the back left is the coolant tank !!! CORRECT ??? if so, i have run the bike so i now presume i have a radiator full of oil !!!???!!! any remedies ? So I finally got my DT to start up (after spraying a little ether in the intake), but it's idling at full throttle. It is dripping gas when I turn the gas on so I'm thinking my float is not set correctly in the carb. My question is would incorrect float set cause both fuel spillage (from the little nipple on the back side of the carb) and running full throttle at idle? I'm also wondering if the needle in the carb is not closing the jet where the fuel comes into the carb..

hi all. i have a problem with my dt. my boy was on it up the woods the other day. he came out of the woods,accelerated in first,missed a gear,so reved it in neutral before going in to second. when he took off,the bike started spluttering,and back fireing,and rattling like hell. there is no go in it. it was fine before he missed a gear. i have checked the timing,and that seems ok. when you try to start it, it back fires. it does run,but there is no go in it. it is making a loud rattling noise from the head. anyone have any idea what the problem is . cheers colin.

Ok, i'm hoping a fresh approach might help. The 175 is being a bit of an arse, from cold she's fine and starts and idles perfectly with choke when cold and when she wont idle with choke its cos she don't need it and she will idle for 10-15 minutes happily. Thing is when your riding, she's a bit rich in the middle but leans off at the top end. Moving the needle up ruins the low speed (sub 5000rpm) manners and putting in a bigger jet and dropping the needle she just floods out and fouls the plug. Lower the needle without the big jet and she bloody near wont run at all. Add into this if i run her a touch rich but tweak the fuel tap it helps with the mid range but sh…
