hi i have been reliving my youth by buying bikes i used to have back in the day my recently purchased dt runs a bit bit funny ive had it a few weeks but have been concentrating on paint work now thats finished its time to get it running right i have not tried to sort it yet but thought id ask for a few opinions before i start first off it wont idle second its bogs down a bit when you rev it at higher revs its very crisp but the revs drop down slowly as if your closing the throttle slowly on the move it does go very well tho anyone got any ideas or suggestions before i pull the carb to bits cheers bry

Just bought a 74 DT175 soaked the carbs, sparkling clean now. Replaced spark plug and fuel line, coated tank, new oil. Getting good spark, fuel into carb, oil to cylinder from pump, can hear throttle work properly, set air mix screw at 2 turns out and idle screw at 3 turns out. With choke out starts right up but idles at 8000 rpm. Put choke in immediately dies. No air filter in, I don't know if that would cause any of this. Any help would be great. Thanks

I have a DT250 that has a dodgy ignition switch. I can't find one that matches exactly, mine has ten wires but colours are hard to match. Engine no is 512-100278 and chassis is 512-001005. Does anyone know where I can check these numbers and get an ignition switch please? The colours don't quite match up on the bike between the 2 ignition switch plugs anyway! Thanks

Hi all, had a YZF 250 for a few years now and only now thought of questioning whether it was sold to me correctly as a 2005 model (I have my doubts). It was my first serious motocross bike and I was "young and naïve..." so I didn't look thoroughly enough for the tell tale signs of just how to make sure you are getting what you have been advertised. I'm hoping someone on here can identify the bike year, I have my suspicions it is actually a 2003 model after some google searches, but where better to ask for proof than on the Yamaha Owners forum!! Regardless of age, I really enjoy riding it, I'd just prefer to know exactly what I have Any advice, info would be appreciated. …

I've always wanted to get into off-roading but just wasn't sure where to start. I was talking with a few people that suggested a WR250F was a good starter, which is also road registrable. It fits nicely under the 33BHP restriction and I think it's a good step up from my 125. I've also been told they have a very reliable engine and pretty easy to maintain, anyone currently owning or have owned one can confirm that? The one thing I'm worried about is the seat height. It's ~6 inches taller than my XT and I'm currently having to tip-toe slightly. I don't know how expensive it would be to lower a WR250F, if I were to get one.

Hello everyone. So i just picked up a 1975 dt175 for my wife to cruse around on. It worked great when i picked it up a few days ago. Took it around the neighborhood a few times since then and was really impressed with how it ran. The PO had some crappy turn signals on it that looked horrible, so i removed them. The battery was not holding a charge, so i had the battery out sitting in my truck so i could get the replacement. Today my wife and i went on a little ride, and about 10 min in she "stalled" the bike. From what i can tell it felt like it ran out of gas. Tried and tried to get it started again with no luck. Got back to the house and found n…

Hi all, Have been looking around for a few bits to buy once the DT is built, seen and heard a lot about these but wondering if anyone has had first hand experience with them.. apparently it allows you to keep the throttle held open and change up through the gears.. I would like some more info because they're over £200 and if it don't work as promised then its a lot down the tube.. This is the only place I can find them: https://www.cisport.co.uk/Product-Detail_/pg%5Fbp%5Fcle%5Fdep/CDASC23B Thanks

Been busy for the last 12 months sorting out a few bikes including another TT500, its taken some time and effort and apart from one or two very minor bits to do its neally ready for registering, i started of with a rolling chassis but had accumilated parts over a year or so.Home made wiring harness with full working lights and horn, home made speedo bracket and cable guides made from stainless welding wire. Oh and this is how i bought it. On another point my lad bought this a few weeks ago, put some time and effort into it as well as £400 and now its ready for mot, engine sound great which is a good thing. Other thing…

I just rebuilt my xt350. It had melted the piston partially. Everything else looks good. I got the new piston and bored the cylinder out. I rebuilt it today and tried to start it. No luck. Tested compression and maxed out at 60 psi. Anybody have any ideas? My buddies think maybe it's got a stuck valve or the timing is off. We did our best to get the timing lined up but it seemed to be stretched about a half tooth off so we couldn't get it perfectly lined up on top dead center. We went with a half tooth advanced. Anybody have any ideas on this? Thanks

I love the sound of my bike but it isn't very loud compared to other two strokes I have heard, it seems to get drowned out by other vehicles very easily. I am thinking about shortening the silencer but I'm a bit worried that I will lose bottom end power especially as the dt doesn't have much anyway. Would it be alright if I shortened it about 4 inches or so? Has anyone done it to their bikes? The bike has a full DEP system. Cheers

The new XT660RandX have poor fuelling at low throttle openings. Yamaha have a "fix" for this. Owners who are concerned should go to their dealer. Ask him to contact Yamaha, who will give the dealer details of the fix. It works very well! My bike runs a lot better.

i have a 1989 dt125r which has a dep exhaust system, performance reeds ,working power valve and when it hits the powerband it goes very well, but when at very low revs it will not tickover and will die when opening the throttle, from about 3000rpm it is fine i stripped and cleaned the carb and found nothing amiss,in fact it was clean so it is not blocked jets ,the main jet is 210 ,when starting the bike does need choke ,but when it has been run for a couple of minutes it will start fine but you have to catch it on the throttle to get it to rev ps i cant give the bike max revs yet due to running in and the engine is turning freely any help would be appreciated

Hello, I've just recently bought my first Yamaha.. Its a dt125 -86. I therefore just regged an account here =) Overall I am very pleased with the bike, I think it runs really well as I have only driven some old Mopeds earlier There are however a few small wonderings I have about the machine.. 1. The prev. owner claimed that the modelyear is 86 (wich is also said in the Registration papers) but the engine was exchanged to a -89! Is there someway to check if this is true? and are there big differences between 86 and 89 engines that may cause problems when I need spare parts? 2. I have driven a total of about 50km and the last time i drove it I notised that the Oi…
