Haven't been here in awhile...had another bout with congestive heart failure that kept me down for a bit. Ready to start on my restoration - 1970 DT1. I know we've been over this all before, but i need to replace the oil seals. Can I just pull them off the ends of the crankshaft without splitting the cases, and just press the new ones in? Any tricks or advice? A good source for the seals other than ebay? Roger

Hi Guys, A small update from last time couple of months on the TTR125. And a couple queries! Cleaned and rebuilt the carburettor, new oil, new petrol, cleaned the air filter, new spark plug.. Finally got her running! A Matter of days after it was running the electric starter stopped working, the clicking with full battery charge all the that I needed. So Im about 75% certain the starter has packed in. Anyone know any methods for testing these things? Anyway I put it to a "mechanic" I use that term loosely.. who let the bike rott in his garage for 6 weeks which did not help matters. So here I am 2 days ago I got the bike back and have decided to pour many ho…

Hi guys, new to this forum & fairly new to biking, I've had my XT125 on the road for about a month now & I'm finding that the headlight, even on full beam, is very poor at lighting much of the road, I was just wondering if this is common on the xt125 & if anyone can reccomend a way to brighten the light, I'm not sure if I can put a halogen bulb straight in?

I have a couple questions. 1. Where can I get them from ? 2. What tyres ? The bike spends most its life off road. So I was thinking just big knobleys. They have to be road legal and I dont want to be changing them every couple month's so need to be hard for the daily ride to work . Cheers for the help

Hi I'm new at the club but I've had very much help reading the old topics with my glorious battle with all the problems and faults with my old DT 125 LC. Thank you for that Well I finally managed to det the old bugger up and running nicely. This ofcourse did not anymore satisfy my twisted need to fiddle about with the machine. Since I got a bargain price on a Gianelli exhaust I decided to get a bit more fun from the bike and bought me one. I was looking forward just to bolt it on and head for the fun. Did'nt quite go like that. The Gianelli was more of a weld on than bolt on. Had to shorten it from the rear to accept the original suppressor, weld a bracket to it a…

Hi everyone I am trying to connect the rear brake light switch and the linkage from the brake light switch to the rear brake pedal has got me scratching my head a little. it is the linkage from the spring that returns the brake light switch plunger to normal after the rear brake has been released, there is a fixing that fits on the rear of the pedal with a connecting rod on it to connect the spring, no matter which way i position it the movement is the wrong way. it has been a year or more since i dismantled it and i am not sure this is even the right bit as I cant find the linkage on cmsnl. a photo of someones linkage would be appreciated. o…

.....at the Yam dealers! Fantastic machine, and a big step up in build quality and sophistication from my XT600. I really like the twin high level pipes, and apparently they are 10bhp up on the old 600 as it delivers about 58bhp. Anyone else checked them out yet? BleedinYanks need not answer....cos the nearest you'll get to one is looking at the photo above! Big fat lardy cruisers is all you boys can handle!

I have a DT125R '03 model. Showroom spec. Seriously considering the DEP pipe and can, which I understand means taking the main Jet up one size. Can anyone confidently describe how I would release more power from the servo assisted powervalve? I have viewed a lot of conflicting information on this very point and remain truly confused. Thx.

hi i got a 1974-75-76 dt175( i thinks it's a 76 but cant tell for sure) and i had to dismantle the fork because of a leaky seal. It has been time that it is now sitting in my basement and i want to put it back togeter. Put now one piece is missing... or not! thats the point! click tis link, it's the part # 11. i only have 1 for the 2 fork. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycl.../m7081sch227985 the piece is exactly like the #9 but smaller, and it seems to go under #3...on this one http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycl.../m7079sch217765 (on this schematic, the inner tube is splitted in 2... it's not supposed to be?...huh?) the piece is not the in…

Following my unfortunate seized engine I've had the barrel honed and ordered a new piston and rings. Unfortunately the new piston has arrived with only 2 piston rings - No oil scraper ring. My original piston had an oil scraper ring fitted, do I need to fit a new one? or just the normal 2 piston rings ??? To be perfectly honest I'm not sure what the oil scraper ring does, it's not shown in any of the manuals I have or any of the DT diagrams of piston and rings !!!
