Any members have experience of modding or replacing the exhaust on the XJ6? The Scorpions look and sound good for the money. But are there real performance benefits in the OEM+ exhausts, seems a bit odd stuffing another can onto the one thats on there. Not that Im unhappy with the current performance, just trying to justify shelling out the bucks for cosmetics and a different tone. I think on a practical level Givi Panniers will have to come first though. Would appreciate the collective wisdom and experiences of the group. Cheers

Sorry but although I posted about this before its still bothering me a little. Its going in for its first service soon but I don't want to be fobbed off. My XJ6 runs fine, pulls very well and never misses a beat. But I have noticed that when pulling away or low speeds in first or second I can hear a whitsling/whine noise (between 2000 to 3000 rpm). If you increase the revs its goes. If I pull the clutch in it goes. When the bike is on the stand i can hold the throttle at a rev range and hear the noise. Can't exactly hear where its coming from, could be the cams or is it the air induction, whistling the air in or possiblly the transmission. I have seen on forum…

Hello , I am carrying out a rebuild of my 2009 XJ6N and it is stripped down to bare frame . Frame is rusty on seams and I would like to get it blast cleaned and powder coated. There is a white sticker with frame number and other info up near the headstock and a vertical frame number that looks to have a clear sticker protection over it and that is on the head tube itself as I guess you all know if you have one of these or a Yamaha of a similar age. I would like to know if the clear sticker is actually protecting a number stamped into the frame or is it a clear resin type sticker with frame number within? Obviously I would rather not loose eithe…

I know this has been asked before but will ask it again as someone may have done it recently. I need to replace my bars as they are bent. New Yamaha ones are £100 plus vat . So I thought about some Renthals or Rizoma bars . I don’t really want to deviate much from the style and shape of the original bars and don’t need fat bars . All Renthals are wider than original bars so I don’t want to get into messing about with fitting longer cables etc but not exactly sure what the style of there shortest bar will be ie is it similar to original. Rizoma only show one bar when you put XJ6 in search box and it is much closer to the Yamaha dimensions. Wha…

Guys, some advice needed, requested from Belgium (small European country)... Recently bought an XJ6 (clocked 2000 miles) and have 2 questions. 1. Gearbox. When accelerating hard going from 1st to 2nd gear, the gearbox tends to shift in neutral gear. I've tried quite a bit, pushing the clutch pedal harder with my foot, closing throttle sufficiently, pulling clutch lever sufficiently, though the issue still stands... Any one already experienced the issue? Any solutions? Thinking of switching clutch lever (TITAX), cause that might be the problem... 2. Exhaust. Willing to replace my exhaust (just the can). Which one would you advice? Thinking of Leovince or Arrow…

Hi The headlamp blew on my XJ6. I have removed the old bulb and replaced with a new H4 type. The bulb does not light. I have tested the voltage at the bulb connector that pushes into the back of the bulb and there is no voltage. I have tested the terminals into which the bulb fuse fits and there is no voltage there. The 20A headlamp bulb is not broken. All other electrical components seem to work ok. The bike starts fine. Does anyone know where else I check to see if some wiring connection is loose to explain why the bulb doesn't light? Regards, Clive

Hello, I've recently got myself the lovely XJ6 SP and I'm trying to figure out what exhaust to stick on it. After some research, I've narrowed it down to the Ixil Dual Full system exhaust. Has anyone on here got the same system? If so, what are your thoughts? I can get it for £455 which is a decent amount cheaper from a Leo Vince system. Just like to know if you'd recommend it if you have one. Thanks.

Hi all, Just joined! Anyway my bike is a XJ6N and been in the gararge for a couple years. Main issue is the chain as it had snapped. However I put in a new battery and some petrol and it started straight away, so quite chuffed. Im looking for some advice. To replace the drive chain, I will need to take the swing arm off, meaning it will be challenge to keep the bike raised so I can do the sprockets/chain. Does anyone know of any good means to lift the bike with the swing arm off? Ive had a look and got some ideas but maybe someone here will crack it :-D There seems to be little area at the bottom of the bike to add things like an axel stand and so on. But w…

Hi all, want other people's opinions on replacing the back tyre. I've just had my 6000 mile service and my back tyre needs replaced. I'm currently running on Dunlop/Roadsmart 160/60-ZR17 (69W) on the rear and they want 130 for the tyre and 29.95 for fitting. What is other peoples opinions on this? Am I getting the piss taken out of me or should I replace with a different tyre? Blah, the opinions, thanks for your inputs in advance I also had a wee look at the Michelin Pilot Power. Anyone had any experience?

So I was thinking to buy this bike 2010 XJ6 with over 60000mls for under 1K GBP And I was wondering how to fix the speedometer? Seller was saying it reads half of the real speed.

Hi, I have posted over the last few days about an engine noise on my XJ6 . Today I have found out this from the clutch cover area. It's only first and second gear and only when pulling away or low speed. I think it is a normal transmission wine. But being inexperienced I think I am looking for problems which aren't there. A bit paranoid as the bike is new. Thanks to those who have replied. Arthur

Hi All. Can someone help me, I have a xj600 1990 with only 12000 odd miles on it and its now running poorly, I've put new plugs and air filter on but with no joy. It seems to be chocking up with fuel and missing after about 15 mins of running and wont tick over. And then fails to re start. The carb are clean and fresh petrol. I can clean the plugs and the next day it starts but all of above happens again. Anyone out there with any idea of whats wrong. Thanks Jon

As i'm sick of that damn DT125lc, i've decided enough is enough i need to get a better bike! Been using my car to get to work for the past few weeks and its really painful being stuck in traffic! on the bike it was taking me 25-30mins in hell traffic, by car it takes minimum 50mins! So the theory test is booked, as soon as thats done the test is getting booked. Ideally i'd like it all done in about a month or so. I;ve been thinking at what bike to buy, starting off thinking about getting a sports 400 FZR, CBR or VFR. But then overnight i've decided i think i should get a commuter type. Why??... i dont know?? i think i'm trying to be sensible?? Anyways, im thi…
