So as is usual I was having a quick look through what EBAY had to offer and came across an advert for an 2007 FJR1300 engine, that looks cheap I thought and bunged in a bid for £99, of course I was thinking I have no chance of getting that for that price! The fella selling it was local to me and he strips and sells car engines for a living, you know the sort, your engine goes pop and you can't be arsed to repair it yourself so you plump for an EBAY special which probably came out of a worse car than yours. Anyway the FJR engine is complete with all the gubbins included electrics and mechanicals. So I wait around all day and bugger me I got it! The cheapest engine I have e…

Its a shame, the TDR forum used to be quite lively, as much as on here certainly. Post something and there would usually be some kind of comment within hours. Its tumbleweed town now, I posted about my wheels with questions and have had little or no comment. 12mths ago the screen would have gone spatty with people commenting, good bad or otherwise. Same ol names same as on here but now, nothing. Suppose its some kind of farcebook group, shame really. Lot of experience on there and it will be lost in facebook. Just be lost in the corporate blue.

Ok so this is completely my fault and its due to a lack of experience, (and being wet behind the ears) I have bent the down pipe assembly on one side where the down pipe actually bolts to the front of the engine (I have only managed to do this on 2 of the 4 rings which secure to the front of the engine) has anyone got any reasonable suggestions for trying to straighten these back out as the holes where the screws should go are now out of line by a few mm and it wont reattach to the front of the bike.Ah the joys of being a young an in-experienced DIY mechanic. :'( any help as ever is greatly appreciated.

to Yamaha ownership. I just sold my auld Triumph and now I have some money burning a hole in my pocket I am happy to go £3k on a bike and would be looking at something like an XS650. This is based on my mate owning one back in the early 80s when I had my 1st Triumph. I liked the look of them then, and still do Any thoughts or opinions

I'm on my way to making my magneto good again. It is a 1975 dt 175. A component in the magneto had come out of place and so as the bike was kicked over it caught on the coils and damaged them and bent itself. So I have had the coils re-done, a good job at Rex's. So all there is now is to replace the component that did the damage; the trouble is that i have no idea what it is called, and neither can I find any pictures/diagram drawings of it. So I will try to describe it in the hope someone can know what I am on about and what it is called. How can i begin? Well, I am taking about the actual flywheel with the magnets around. In the center of this is a tapered shaft, a…

i dont know what your problems are with cars. you get one or two arseholes and everyone gets abused now ive seen alot more dangerous drivers on bikes ie yesterday3 drz400s came fucking up my road on their back wheels that is 100% fucking dangerous and what if a kid walked out in the road which usually does happen here, cars have more right to be on the road cause they pay more road tax. there are just as many wankers on bikes as there is on bikes

Hi Guys, I went for my M/C Theory Test this morning and........................ :? I PASSED! Got 35/35 for the theory part and 53/75 for the Hazard Preception. Next step is to go for the DAS course. I need to save for a bit first, I think the course is about £500-£600! I'm going to save for a leather suit and a pair of boots as well (about £500! ) before I do the course (might as well).

Been offline nearly 24 hours as my Pipex ADSL connection was down. Seems they had a major network problem, which is very unusual for them cos they're top notch. And even worse, it's been pissing down and blowing a gale here...so no bike either. Did I miss anything happening on here? Has Alan got rid of his Mullet yet?

Well done to Rossi for knocking up another win for Yamaha in Portugal. Also, did you see Marco Melandri's "Spiderman Leathers" and bike paint work? PRetty cool it was but shame he crashed out and wrecked it! :? Unlucky mate.

to a sheep! whilst out dualsportin on the klr i encountered a flock of sheep being moved from one field to another half a mile up the road. not a farmer in sight, no dogs etc. then i noticed the sheep at the back had got caught in a cattle grid! so i thinks i'd better try and lift it out being the kind sole that i am. let me tell you something, sheep weigh a fooking ton! how pete does it i don't know anyway so i had to lift its legs out which thankfully weren't broken and try and get it off the cattle grid. i eventually found the farmer at the other field and told him about it and why the hell did he have them going over a cattle grid?! coont didn't even say thanks th…
