I have a 1962 Yamaha 60cc yj1. I was wondering if anyone knows what value it has. It is complete, motor not froze up, good condition for sitting for many years, needs new seat. If I could figure out how, I'd insert a picture of one like it. Thanks, Shirley

Good Evening. I got my 1964 YA6 running and on the road. I can't seem to be able to stop air in the tube. I rebuilt the pump. New seals etc. Bled the pump. When the bike is running if open up the oil pump and slightly open the throttle I can get oil pumping through with no visible bubbles / gaps. If I let it idle it will eventually start to show air gaps etc. Any thoughts would appreciated, cheers

Good Morning, I ended up with a 1964 Yamaha YA6 which I have gone through. I went to start and it has no spark. I checked the wiring, changed out the regulator, coil and starter/generator/dynamo. It has lights, signals, horn, brake light which all work, but I can't get a spark. When I pulled the bike apart the white wires (armature circuit) was melted, I fixed that. Otherwise I'm stumped, please help! Cheers

Hello all, Just purchased a 1964 Yamaha YG1 80cc. Seem like a great little bike. Look forward to riding her. Just had a few questions that I was hoping someone could answer. What type of oil should I run in the gear box? I was reading that some people use 10W40 and even some use ATF in the 2 stroke gearboxes? I was leaning more towards the 10W40. What fuel to oil ratio should I use for premix? I think I read 20:1 on an old brochure I saw online...kind of hard to make out the text though. Also along with the gearbox oil, anybody know what the capacity is and how to tell how much is in there? There doesn't seem to be a dipstick or anything...at least th…

Hello, My name is Brian from Oregon, USA. I recently bought a 1965 YDS5 from the original owner. What a find!!! I rode one in 1968, I was 17, and I will never forget the ride, my knees are still shaking. When I found this one I had to have it, anyway to my problem. I rebuilt the carbs and the tank distribution valve and have her running pretty good. The clutch slips really badly so I can't ride yet. I cannot find a clutch kit or much of anything for this bike. I am starting to think there are not many of them left so parts will be hard to find. Maybe there is a secret liquid clutch fluid I can put in the trany and hook me up to that power plant. If I remember rightly the …

This is my first post (other than my introduction). Forgive me if this is not the appropriate forum for this question. I am getting my dad's old 1968 Yamaha YL-1 back on the road. Hasn't been driven in decades. I restore vintage Volkswagens but I know nothing about motorcycles, so I appreciate any help greatly. I don't have the owner's manual so my question is simple, what oil should I use in it? It has a "Twin Jet 100cc" in it. Also, I'm a little confused. The bike fell while in storage and bent what I now know to be the oil pump cover on the side of the bike and all the oil leaked out. I bought a new cover for it (on its way) but it's strange to me …

  9. Just this week I rebuilt the motor of this exact model of bike. I bought it pretty cheap because someone had broken the piston rings. So I just put the rings in, and the bike fired right up. Next day, being yesterday, it wouldnt. I checked for spark but got small white sparks. So following clymers manual, started checking resistance. The book gives me resistance values for a m100-08 magneto, but my magneto is m100-16. Are the values going to be the same? Theres a red/white to black test which should have no resistance, but I am getting infinite resistance there. Is that my issue? Not sure how to proceed. Thanks to anyone who can offer some advice

If your out there lord I need help. I'm trying to get an old bike running for my grandson. The bike is for off road only, no electrical system other than ignition. In regards to timing a 1971 DT1F Yamaha and I have the following questions please: -I have an ignition base with points and condensor that 2 of the 3 wound wire coils have been removed. Is this because only 1 winding is needed to fire the ignition? I asume since there are no lights or battery the other wound coils were removed? -There are 3, wires soldered to the condensor, 1 going to the points, 1 from the wound coil and the other is loose. I think it should go directly to the ignition coil. Is that co…

The headlight on my 1972 G7S was burned out when I bought it. It's a sealed beam lamp and the part is no longer available. A guy at NW Vintage Cycle Parts said people are using the headlight from a 1968 YG5T. My original headlight is a 6V/15W and the replacement is a 12V/25W. Is that going to cause problems? Also, when I checked my battery I found a clear tube in the battery compartment. The tube is not hooked up to anything. It was just threaded through the compartment. I haven't found any mention of it in either the rider's manual or the Clymer manual. Does anyone here know what it might be? Thanks!

I got a 1972 Yamaha 360 RT2 that is in need of a new motor. As I was taking it apart i was finding metal peaces all around and some where falling out of it. I was wondering if anyone had that motor laying around and would like to sell it for a descent price. Or can I put any kind / style of motor in it????

I have a 1972 Yamaha 360 RT2. When I was taking the motor apart there were metal peaces falling out of it and i cant find where they go. So I'm coming to the conclusion that the motor is toasted. I don't think it helps that is been siting for close to 12 years in a barn. And when it was park the guy i got it from said it was acting weird.. So I was wondering if anyone had a spear motor they would like to sell for a descent price and lives in Michigan. Or can I just put any kind / style of motor in it??? thanks for your help

  20. Good Evening, I picked up a 1972 G7S a few weeks back and trying to awaken it from its slumber. Electrically, I have cleaned all the connections and have everything working off a brand new battery except the headlamp. I read in an older post (Sacha's) that the headlamp circuit is powered by the magneto, and not the battery (similar to a DT). I have a rectifier, and no voltage regulator that I can find. The headlamp is intact. If that is the case, I will finish cleaning the gas tank, oil tank (shall I flush it with mineral spirits?) and order a carb kit and get this running. It has good compression and spark, so will sort the fuel side out. Thank you…
