Hi Folks - I'm learning my away around bike maintenance, it's secondhand 19k on the clock, with little knowledge of past servicing. I've been recommended refitting the chain and sprockets. I was wondering what you guys would be checking whilst the back wheel is off? I've got the Haynes and am happy to do entry level mechanics myself! Any thoughts? Cheers!

Hi all, My problem is exactly as the title really. The YBR125 coughs and splutters when the throttle is quickly opened from fully closed - if you do it more slowly though it is not a problem. Do this too quickly and the engine dies completely / stops dead. Idling speed is fine. I've cleaned the spark plug and this seems fine. Could it be the carburetor / air intake that needs cleaning or is it perhaps that the engine cope with a large air intake do you think? Any help appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, It's been a long while since posting, but due to circumstance, I have yet to do my DAS and am on 6th CBT. Anyhow, moving on to the issue: The only way to shift down that works is blipping the throttle. I struggle blipping when breaking, so, naturally I go by the manual which says not to blip but slowly release clutch and apply throttle as required. The problem with that method, is that the revs spike when releasing the clutch, by about 3k, if there is and throttle applied, with no throttle the back wheel starts to lock and the bike lurches. So far, the only work around is to blip on downshift, and block change if coming to a stop. I find it od…

hi all I've just replaced the the fork stanchion on a friends ybr 125. All was going well until the bottom Allen screw needed to be undone, it just spun round without undoing. So the damper rod needed holding from inside needing a special tool, or in this case not, I just put two long 1/2" drive socket extensions together and the square end of one locked the damper rod perfectly. Just wanted to get the info out there so someone else could benefit.

Hi all, Just purchased my first bike, a new ybr125 and for the first 80 miles loved it! However the last 30 miles or so the bike has had problems going into third. I give it a firm flick and nothing but resistance with the clutch firmly in. This happens around 80% of the time and its very frustrating. It does however work second time everytime which i find very strange. Also When going from 3rd to 4th somtimes there there is no feedback at all no click or clunk, it goes but feels as though it hasnt if that makes sense? If anyone could help with this it would be much appreciated. Lee

I have a 61 plate YBR which has just started hunting between 1000-2000 rpm and then stalls. Any idea what can cause this? My local dealer has never heard of this happening before. It has done 530 miles from new and has always been garaged when not in use. Any help will be gratefully received.

Greetings, Took a dive in the wet over the weekend and luckily the only damage to the bike was the front right indicator was totalled However for the first time in years the internet has let me down and I can't find anywhere to get a replacement. I can't find a part number, can't find 'indicator' listed on any yamaha ybr125 site, I'm tearing my hair out! It's an '06 YBR with huge clunky indicators. That doesn't bother me in the slightest. A direct replacement would be best but even if I could find a pair to replace with I'd be happy, but I've already tried some random generic indicators but I think the volts/wattage is wrong. Can anyone point …

Hey there, I just got a YBR125 09 and when I am looking for parts on websites I cant find parts for newer than 08. Can anyone tell me why this is and if the parts for an 08 are the same as the 09 model. I am looking for a chain, is it a good idea to get a "heavy duty" one? Cheers

Recently bought a 2013 EFI YBR125 and it seems to have a fault, but no error lights (The light does work on first turning of the key, so not a bulb issue). The bike starts first or second stab of the starter button and ticks over lovely and quiet, BUT is is really fluffy at picking up when cold and nearly stalls, so to be clear it doesn't increase revs cleanly, it has massive lag. Once it's ticked over for a few minutes it goes away and runs fine, and picks up cleanly. Air filter is spotless, plug looks OK if a little rich, has fuel. Is this "Normal" for cheap injected bikes, was expecting a nice clean pick up and pull away from the off?? Any advice/views greatly ap…

Hey all, nice to meet ya, newbie here and all that funk My Q or dilema is this, i walked into a yamaha dealership last week, looked around as you do at some fine machinery, saw the deal on the YBR125, went home, scratched my head then picked up the phone and bought the bike. I repeat i know jack about motorbikes other than they looked cool in Akira and i wanted one since. The question is this, does the bike have somewhere where i can store the helmet? Thanks in advance, flame is you want, you cant hurt me no more than the GF when i broke the news to her w000t.

ive been riding a YBR125 since April, through the rain and shine, but now, it seems more rain than shine yesterday, my instructor showed me some tricks to keep warm and dry when the wet stuff comes down. I liked the handlebar muffs, which would certainly keep my hands dry (im sick of having wet hands all the time, and drying my gloves with a hair dryer), and heated grips also seem to be a winter essential for some riders but before i go spending money, it would probably be worth checking that they ACTUALLY work, and that my little bike can cope so, first of all: is it sensible to fit Muffs to a YBR? and are there any brands that are incompatible with the YBR bar…

Greetings, I'm brand new to bikes and brand new to this forum, so Hi there all! Got my CBT around 3 months ago and had my YBR 125 (just under 3 years old) for around 2 months. Had a few issues with sticky and occasionally slipping gears, but looking around that appears to be normalish. My question today is about what I can only describe as a 'clattering' noise coming I think from clutch/gearbox. When stood still there is nothing loose and no noise when reving the engine. I hear it when riding in gear with little to no throttle or during gear changes. I plan to get it serviced in a week or so, but I want to know if I should stop riding i…
