Hi, just got my xt125x today and took it for a ride. Everyone was saying i should be getting at least 70 with it but on the longest bit of road there is i only got 51mph!!! i weigh 13.5 stone so i dunno if weight makes much of a difference? but does anybody have any ideas of how to get a higher top speed either cheaply or just by fiddling about!?

Hi I'm in the process of rebuilding a Yam XT 250 1981. The bike was dressed up to used in a war film by a company (Classic Cars 99) who supplied vehicles to the film industry. This bike was modified to have a camera set up on it and beefed up for jumps. It seem that the steering yoke has been changed possibly 500. I've bought a replacement bottom yoke but not a top one. The problem I have is that the clock ( two circle ones) fit into a base which bolts to the top yoke but the centres don't match up. So it either the a different top yoke or I got the wrong clocks? I think the centres on the yoke is 100mm and the clock base is 120mm. Any thoughts

Hello all, New to this (or any) bike forum, but have just bought a brand new XV950 and have covered about 30 miles - unfortunately, I'm getting the same old pain in the ass (literally) I've experienced with other bobber style bikes I've owned. Before I start ordering solo sprung replacement saddles etc, can anybody advise if they have gone down the same route of sourcing a comfier (softer) replacements ? I suffer from a condition called pilonidal sinus (right at the base of your spine), and have had a few op's over the years - and really cant be riding something that brings it back. Previously, I've tried gel pads, but never felt like they offered any …

Hi all, I'm thinking of getting an xv950r or xv950, but the clock is really putting me off as it's ugly, useless and doesn't suit the bike. Gas anyone also found this, and knows if the clock can be changed for a speedo with tach and indicator displays, fuel gauge etc. Sent from my SM-G928F using Tapatalk

Hello, Was wondering if anybody could help me? I dropped my bike a couple of times last winter, and now the weathers cleared up a bit I was going to start getting it road ready The main problem I have is a fair few deep scrapes in the twin Exhuast pipes, and the rust to accomodate. Can anybody suggest somewhere to get some new (or good as) pipes? Many thanks, Chris

Hey, I have recently purchased a dragstar off ebay and bought a pig in a poke. Its beautiful to look at and has been converted to a bobber. The previous owner has put harley controls on it and the existing wiring doesnt fit, therefore I cannot twist the throttle and I'm not a fan of holding the indicator switch as I turn (still a novice rider) I'm looking either for original controls or something that will do the job - by controls i mean left and right hand controls on the handlebars (brakes, clutch, lights, indicators, etc) Can anyone help me? Desperate to get on it as the summer months are rapidly approaching.

My Yamaha (shaft drive) seems to have a strange problem that I noticed the other day, up til about 30 - 40 mph when i pull in the clutch i can feel this "dit-dit-dit" bumpiness the i THINK is coming from the front but resonates throughout the entire bike. It is very slight but so irritating, I took it to one garage they said it's fine, then another who removed the front wheel, re-did the inner tube alignment and added a weight to it .. but it's still there. I thought it may be the engine, so I turned the bike off and went down a hill in neutral, still there clear as day, I have removed the front fender, the tool roll and nothing rubbing against the wheel. I think the bump…

Hello all, just charged the battery two days ago and it's gone flat again. I did a four mile trip stopped for five minutes and it just would not start. Kind of hopeing the battery is knackered and not anything else, although it seemed to charge ok on Sunday. Any thoughts would be greatly received.

Hello and first post from a newbie. Bought a badly kept XV 650 to turn in to a bobber. Stripping it down and when I removed the tank I found that the 2 plastic covers over the wiring (it also surrounds the ignition keyhole) was brittle and parts broken. Need to get a replacement but cannot find on the service manual what this part is called? If I am not making myself clear I can post some pictures later. Thanks in advance.

Hello dear members, I'm busy with the restoration of a Yamaha YA6 125cc 2 stroke autolube from '64. After changing some bearing, o-rings, gaskets and seals the engine is almost done now. Only thing left to do is putting new transmission oil in and start her up. The problem is, I can't find the right amount of oil and wich is best to use. Greetings, Lars

I have Yamaha YB100 two stroke model 2004. although the bike is in god condition. but one day when I was offroad at the speed of 100 suddenly my bike engine siezed in the middle of the road. when the engine got cooled it started again. I took my bike to technitian who said that your oil pump stoped working and due to over heat in cylinder head your engine seized. I changed the cylinder head. Now after changing it still my bike gets hot at the speed of 60. I have noticed that cylinder head is now again giving voice like some thing got loosed in cylinder chamber. I again took it to the technician who said that add a bit oil in the gas tank (Petrol tank). but problem is still…

Hello all, I’m a newbie to the forum, bikes and Yamahas. I found an old 1989 Yamaha YB100 Deluxe in a barn on my wife’s farm. It’s been sat there for some time and I managed to persuade her to let me take it home for some TLC. Whoever left it did so with fuel still in ??♂️. Going off the DVLA MOT checker it last ran out of MOT in 2014 with the same mileage on the clock as it has now, so has literally been stood. So far I’ve: - changed the fuel filters - drained the tank - replaced some fuel line - cleaned the carb - cleaned the float and float bowl - reset the pilot air screw - reset the oil pump setting - got it through an MOT It does run and runs fine at…

Hi all New to the forum I'm looking at getting a YBR 125 as my next bike when I turn 17 in January. As a step up from my 50cc scooter! If anyone has got one. What are they like to live with? Also as I'm thinking of doing my full A1 licence. Would the YBR be capable of getting me and my gear over to next years Isle of Mann TT? Thanks Ash

I currently own a Yamaha YBR 125, and am looking to put a new set of tyres on it. Due to all the snow here, whats the best kind of winter tyre I can use on such a small bike? Similarly, any advice on summer-friendly tyres? Any help will be much appreciated! Thanks
