Hello i hope someone can help me with this: i went to buy a TRX 850, cosmetically the bike was in a nice clean condition, but something bothered me, at the join between the head and the cylinder there was a thin line of discolouration all the way around the joint, but only on the left cylinder, i could not work out what this was i.e. oil, grease, or a disintegrating gasket. So i revved the bike and at mid range there was a dark colouration from the exhaust not a lot, just a thin viel of dark grey. from the exhaust. can anyone shed some light as to what this may be.

Hi all, I own two Yamaha TT600's, one in rebuild the other running....well hmm sort of....anyway my issue is this, the bike starts easy, idles perfect but when going over 60km's per hour or when you start gunning it, the bike changes completely, she starts backfiring and gosh knows what else ....it really sounds like a timing issue when you rev itr high... Changed the following : CDI,coil, stator, carbs.....to no avail, i cannot understand this problem...building engines is a walk in the park but this bike is killing me lol Any comments would be highly appreciated.. Frank

  4. Hey all, last week I decided to pick myself up a couple of sweet looking bikes off of Facebook being the impulsive 15 year old I am. I have never owned something with 2 wheels before so not sure if I made a good choice but one is a twin jet 100 and the other is a trail master 80. The 80 is completely seized and the cylinder block is pretty messed up. The transmission kicks into gear though and it is complete enough just needs a couple of things I could probably do myself except for the motor. The twin jet spins freely has good compression but is missing key switch, the wiring is messed up, missing a second carburator it only has 1 at the moment and needs other repairs th…

I have a yamaha tzr 125 that needed new clutch plates, I replaced these and the issue was not resolved. I was told later by a friend that they need to be put in a certain order and there will a differance beetween the plates to help or markings. I cant see any of this and all the 6 plates look the same. So is there an order or is there another issue im just not seeing.

Hi, I've just bought myself a 2008 Yamaha TZR 50 and I was thinking about fitting a tail tidy because the stock back end is huge! However, I've just been out and looked how it would fit but it seems as though the number plate bracket and the undertray is all stuck together in one bit. Now I've taken off the seat to see if there are any bolts keeping it in place but I can't seem to see any. i've managed to get a few pictures off YouTube to see how people fitted theirs and they seem to have taken the undertray out and the number plate bracket but if I did that all the electrics and wiring would be exposed because that's what the battery is sitting on, effec…

Ive had this bike nearly two years. A couple of weeks ago the piston rings broke in it. Replaced the piston, rings and gaskets and cleaned the barrel out which hadnt been damaged. yesterday took her out to make sure she was running right and kept the revs and speed down for about 30 miles to get her run in, then reved her up and when she hit 8 thousand rpm she stalled herself but kept rolling. she started easily and away she went a while later she went over 8rpm but stalled again when she dropped back under 8thousand. she started again easily and when she hit 9 and a half thousand rpm i slacked off the throttle and she stalled and locked the back wheel throwing the back e…

  16. Hello all I've just received back the very V50M I used to use when I was 16 - I'm 51 now! It was my mums before she could drive, then my dad's commuter, then I used it to do my paper round on and then my brother used it when I could drive. It sat in my dad's garage for about 25 years before giving it to a friend's son. After more years, friend's son now works for Triumph testing new bikes on track in Spain so poor V50 now a tad overlooked. Anyway, I was asked if I wanted it back as a resto project. Yippee - time to revisit my 16 year old self. So, I've been doing a bit of a "rolling restoration" on it - not much point spending too much time and money if it'…

  17. Hi folks. Just wondered if anybody could help... I rebuilt a Yamaha V80 engine (same as PW80 if that means anything to anyone) as i bought it on ebay as a runner, but the case got cracked in transit, not ideal. Anyway, i stripped it down and used the cases from another engine and rebuilt the engine. All seemed ok with build, i used Threebond to join the halves together as recommended on forums (no paper gasket). Anyway, it doesn't run properly. I feel i have fooled around with everything trying to get it sorted. Basically, in stock form, carb, autolube, air filter etc) it just doesn't run well. It bogged down massively and wouldn't allow for any road speeds. I atta…
