Need some experienced advice concerning my clutch lever on my XJ600S. Its a '98 model and in really good condition with FSH etc, but since I bought it (last week) I've noticed that the clutch lever is a bit shakey and needs to be tightened. Whilst a bit of movement isn't a problem, mine seems to be able to move around an inch up and down at the furthest point from the pivot. I'm surprised because the bike had a service before I collected it from the garage I bought it from. Is this normal for an older bike? Can I tighten it myself or do I need to go back to the garage for some adjustment? It still works fine and the gear change is nice and smooth. Perhaps I'm …

So story goes like this.. Passed my mod 2 1 minor for undue hesitation not like me at all as you know if you have ridden with me Very pleased very happy as you would expect. All the joy of getting a bigger 2 stroke spinning around in my mind. Nice triple or a mental screamer but more important for now burning those L plates that are of great shame to me. Thankfully and i say with behind grinding teeth i haven't yet ridden since passing on the 11th. Why you maybe thinking Thankfully? Well after a urgent message to get in contact asap with the instructor i used sent Friday last. It seems that my Module 1 had expired with my 1st theory November 2012…

Ok just for those that don't know, bought myself an FJ1200 a couple of weeks ago and I am in the process of tearing it down and refurbing it. So far I have 4 sheared bolts that the PO has kindly left me and now I have added 2 more in the stripping process, they all are sitting flush to the various mounts and things so nothing to grab hold of and was trying to think of the best way to get the buggers out, remember these are as rusty as F**K so they are not going to come out easy, thought that I might cut them with a slot with the Dremel and use some heat and plus gas to get them softened up but other than that open to suggestions. I have a welder so could try welding a bol…

this bloke was in the pub and he had a shiner. His mates asked how he got it, this is his story..... Me and the wife are shopping in the local Asda I pick up a case of Beer and puts it in the trolley. 'What do you think you're doing?' asks the wife. I said'They're on sale, only £10 for 24 cans. she say's, 'Put them back, we can't afford them , and so they carry on shopping. A few aisles further on along the wife picks up a £20 jar of face cream and puts it in the trolley. I said, "What do you think you're doing?" 'Its my face cream. It makes me look beautiful,' replies the wife. 'So does 24 cans of Beer and it's half the price. And that's wh…

I'm not usually accident prone but earlier in the week while helping my eldest with some diy I did two things that have kept me off my bike during the really nice riding weather we have had. First while collecting some aqua panel from our local diy store one of the sheets slipped and landed on my foot, nothing broken but some very bad bruising that had me hobiling along like cripple and there was no way I could get my bike boots on, then that evening while shutting the tail gate on my van I got distracted by someone just at the wrong moment and managed to smash my head with the door again nothing broken by a nasty gash and some more bruising, by the time I can put my hel…

Just a general enquiry; I quite fancy a Bulldog ( NO Not the 4 legged kind you pervert!) The BT1100. Shaft drive, nice riding position, big Vee twin and shaft drive. Oh, did I mention Shat drive? I figure that when I retire next year, I've got one more long trip at least left in me and what better "Step-up" from my K Reg. XJ900F than the said doggie. The XJ's tank is in for some serious hole-mending while the weather tries to freeze the feathers off the local penguins, so my mind is increasingly turning to a route and what bike to use. Do any of you fine people ride one, or have any real time experience or opinions? Let's hear from all you big milers and Bulldog aff…

i got a '82 yamaha XT 550. Oil has started leaking from the bottom of the engine not a lot of oil just a few drips. but its enough that it lowers the oil level on the dip stick. i put more oil in adjusting the oil level to where it should be... Then i didn't ride for two weeks and now the exhaust note sounds different than it did two weaks prior and i hear what i think are the valves taping/a clicking sound coming from the engine. What yall think?

I bought an extended warranty for my Stryker 3 years ago. It expires this year. Last Spring when I uncovered my bike, I found the plastic surface of the clutch cover had become wrinkled. I called Yamaha to find out how to get the cover replaced under warranty and was told I had to go through my dealer. I contacted the dealer twice, first in February and then again in May. Nobody from Yamaha contacted me. I finally got in touch with a manager at Yamaha Canada and this was his reply: Good afternoon: I am not showing a file in the warranty system regarding your request for warranty coverage but I just consulted with the Warranty and Service staff. T…
