Hi all can anybody tell me if the Alternator on my 1999 XJ900s has a rubber shock type drive or is it direct ? as it seems to be rattling a bit on tick over, and I can not find any comment about it in the manual. Keith

Hey all, I am about to attempt to put 12" apes on my xvs 650. I have bought some 5.75 single core wire but have no idea if it is what I need. I have been searching for ages to try and find out what wire I will need to use, has anyone any advise to offer? And thank you in advance

Well, the weathers certainly picked up these last couple of days. Loads of bikes out today, took both mine out yesterday, the cruiser in the morning, the fazer in the afternoon, bit cool on the legs after and hour or so, but no big deal. Was going to ride out to Newark autojumble tomorrow, Motorcycle News says its on, but good job I checked the jumble website, that says its next week. Just need to stock up on consumables (tiewraps etc) used through the year. Off to Stafford again next month, likely on the saturday, Im at donny on the monday for road bikes only trackday, hoping to get down to 2 minute lap time. id be well chuffed. Folks See pic, 2MG cylinder head, the hole circled in red pen. What is this for? Any idea? A tell tale? There is one each side. I have a very, very, very, slight coolant leak out of one of the holes only, clutch side of engine. Machine does not run hot at all. Fine on a long run. It is not chucking coolant out of there, but leaking never the less. Just want to know what is up this hole! Doubt it should be leaking from there anyway. Is it an indication of a head gasket going?. Hello All, It has been a while since i have been on this site and wondered if you could help. As above i am looking for my old XVS 1300 (FM56URA) It was all in black had a black tribal air filter, matt black single exhaust, black brake pedal, black engine covers and a polished cobra rev counter. The bike is also an american import has non standard bars, levers, grips and tear drop mirrors. I am hoping that someone might know it i have a pic below of before i had the bike changed.

Missus asked what the TDR is worth as I have been jealously muttering about my neighbours new (old) vmax. So I used ebay, then worked through all the other sites like auto trader, gumtree etc. I found 5, in TOTAL, not per site. There was one that must have had gold plated parts at over 4k, 2 others at around 2.7-2.9 and a non runner, non registered dog for 1500, last one was a bitza basket case worth nothing but hassle. Search other stuff like RD400 or 350ypvs or lc. Kh(of any cc) and there are plenty. I knew they were rare but!

I recently bought a "running" roadstar. had to replace the main relay, the starter relay and tear apart and clean the carburetor. got it running great went to take it for a spin and it stalled when I put it first gear. whats up with it and how do I fix it without replacing the clutch. the bike has 3452 actual miles and was stored the last 2 years.

Hi all , I have a 2009 XJ6n that I will register in France and would like to know if the headlamp unit is switchable from rhd beam pattern to lhd like on some cars. I cannot find my owners manual although I would think a lhd headlamp is required. Beam deflectors will not be adequate. Regards , David

Hello! I just bought a 1997 Yamaha XJ600S Diversion. I bought it used obviously. When i went to look at it before i bought it everything worked. He said it had been standing for a while, like a couple of months i think. It was a bit tricky to turn the ignition but i figured it out and it worked. We probably turned it on and off 3-4 times and it worked. When i got home and tried to turn the ignition it was as said a bit tricky but it worked, it started and the lights worked no problem and i could drive it. Then it all went south when I removed the front fearing. I removed the front fearing(front lights, front signals, gauges, some cable from the gauge thing to the fro…

Hi guys! Having a bit of a "problem" when trying to put my bike into first gear from idle during a cold start. The engine starts usually pretty well (occasionally cuts out during idle on a cold day), but when I get onto the bike and try and put it into first gear....the engine cuts out. I have to repeat this process maybe 1 or 2 more times before it eventually works and I can ride off. I know the Yamaha SR125 has a side stand cut off trigger (caught me out before!) so I could investigate that switch. However because it eventually goes into first gear after a while when the engine is warmer makes me believe its a clutch problem. Thanks guys!

Hi guys, I wondered why my Ace had a bit of a wonky indicator (front left). I found the indicator had been cunningly wedged in using black electrical insulating tape. Taking the thing apart I found there was no supporting stay behind the indicator hence the reason for it being a bit wonky. I couldn't find anything on EBay for my bike and I don't really want to pay over £20 new for a bent bit of metal which is all it effectively is. Does anyone know if there are bikes with compatible parts - other than the Thundercat which is similar age and has presumably similar 'hen's teeth' parts availability. Many thanks in advance

Hi, new here, hope someone can help? Just bought an old 1980 xt250, the log book says RED, the colour is actually white. It has the correct looking Xt decal on the tank and nothing on the side panels. Can anybody tell me what colours were actually available in the UK circa 1980? Also interested in colour schemes across the world, but just want to put my bike back the way it was. Was it actually Red? I owned a new xt250 in 1980, it was white with the black triangle on the tank going over the petrol cap.

Hi all, I’m new to the group so go easy I'm currently rebuilding a 1981 xs250 and need a upgraded regulator/rectifier. I’ve tried searching the web loads and asked lots of questions to the sellers on eBay but no one wants to say “yes the one will work for you”!!!! Can anyone recommend one to me? I’m also changing the battery to a lithium ion too. Any help will be appreciated, thanks G
